Windows 7 on Latitude D810

Hi all

I used to use a Latitude D830 with Windows 7, as my Latitude D810 is my laptop backup, I tried to install Windows 7. Everything seems to work perfectly except the video card for which I find no correct driver. I tried all for who I found on the web, tried lots of tips, nothing to do. I have a Radeon X 300 with a normal resolution of 1280 x 800 32 bit and the best pilot (Catalist V10.2) just display 1068 x 780, which is appalling.
Does anyone know this problem?
Thank you very much.
FR.

Hi Turbo33,

Welcome to the community.

I'm afraid, the laptop was not designed for windows 7 and there are has no windows 7 drivers available for this notebook on the Dell support Web site. I also tried to look for the driver on the AMD Web site and was not able to locate the video driver there as well. So in this case, you can be forced to go back to windows XP or use the native Windows 7 drivers for this video card. Or you can also try to search for the driver online.

Let me know if there are other concerns. Glad to be of assistance.

  • Dell Latitude D810

    Greetings,

I was given a Latitude D810. I rebuilt the fort with a fresh install of XP and downloaded, video and network Sigmatel audio drivers on the Dell site and install them. I've also updated the memory to 1 GB. Everything seems to work with one exception.

I use this computer to connect to Second Life so that I can run sound audio effects for theatrical productions through the Vivox voice communication channels. The audio comes a computer and pipes through mixer to the laptop. I did it with my other computers well enough, but for some reason any with this one I am an almost constant static pulse. This does not work when I plug a standard Logitec headset into it. The microphone works well and I get no static. But when I connect the output of the mixer Behringer or go directly from PC to laptop, I get static. I tried all the settings I can find on the laptop, I tried different ports on the table mixing and going even directly from the desktop PC that runs the SFX in the laptop, and also of various cables without result. Anyone have any ideas on what is the cause and how can I eliminate it? Thank you.

    Kind regards
    Craig Allen

Hello Craig. Run the laptop on battery. If the noise goes away, then you have some kind of loop of mass caused by the AC adapter.

There was a design flaw that simultaneously struck all Dell laptops. I don't remember when it was fixed, so don't know if the D810 had the problem.

If battery eliminates the problem, a temporary solution is then get an adapter pin 2-pin (ground eliminator) 3 in a hardware store and use it either on the phone or mixer card.

Long term fix is to get a ground isolator - an inexpensive Radio Shack used to have (part 270-054). Or get a usb sound card that has optical s/pdif and connect to the mixer it's - no drivers. An external card that connects with copper cables will not help.

  • Latitude D810 PATA for upgrade of the SATA HARD drive

I have a laptop Dell Latitude D810, with an ATX hard disk controller interface (at least it is what I was told that I have, in addition the Linux kernel reports ATX so), but the installed hard drive is a Hitachi Travelstar 7 K 100 60 GB: HTS721060G9AT00, which a Ultra ATA drive with IDE interface. It connects to the motherboard with a Foxconn adaptor (p/n 59PJA). I have two questions:

    1. How can I be sure that I actually have an ATX interface for hard disks in my laptop?

2 if I do, can I get an adapter to connect the hard drive to the ATX system board?

  • Windows 8 for latitude d620

    Hello

Ive got the latitude d620 computer, it works under xp pro, ive requested clarification on the execution of 7 on it, and you guys said it might be done.ive just read about windows 8 and put other than the fact its going to be a radical change, seems, it will not take much space on computers (im sure that's what I read) , according to me, he also says that it would be universally available from microsoft for about $40 to download from one site, so could this be the way to go, when xps supports drys, could someone tell me if it is a good idea, if it works john etc.

I have Windows 8 preview of consumption running very well on a Latitude D820 is essentially the same machine with a larger screen, you should have no problem upgrade to 8.

  • How to recover Windows 7 on Latitude 3540

I bought a Dell Latitude 3540 with Windows 7 Pro.  I installed Windows 8 with the recovery media, but I would like to recover my installation of Windows 7.  Thank you for your time.

If Windows 8 has been installed with the GPT partition style (when UEFI is present, it is the only supported option), all partitions will be deleted. Therefore, in this case, you must contact Dell support by phone, explain the situation and ask for a new DVD of Windows 7.

If Windows 8 has not been installed in the GPT partition style (i.e. in the MBR style), and the recovery partition is not affected, you can start Dell Recovery by pressing F11 or Ctrl + F11 when you see the Dell during the boot logo, and it will restore the PC to Windows 7.

  • Windows 8.1 Latitude E6430 wireless issues

After a recent clean install of Windows 8.1 on my E6430 Latitude, I can access is no longer my work wireless network uses 802.1 x and Cisco wireless controllers.

It's using the RTM of Windows 8.1 version. Windows 8 and 8.1 client preview worked without any problems.

Windows has installed the Broadcom 802.11n network adapter during installation. When this does not work, I updated the driver using the Dell support site and installed the drivers from Dell Wireless 1504 802.11b/g/n (2,4 GHz).

The two drivers lead the same: I am connected with limited connectivity and usually a self assigned IP address.

The wireless works fine on home networks using WPA2.

Any ideas or suggestions for troubleshooting?

I had the same problem with my Dell Latitude E6430.  I have tried everything what I found online with no luck.  I even applied all system updates Dell pulled out this week (more as of 10/17/2013).  Nothing has worked.  I found this today and it solved my problem (from http://blogs.technet.com/b/dennis_schnell/archive/2013/08/31/windows-8-1-wifi-showing-quot-limitied-quot-or-quot-no-internet-access-quot.aspx):

Hi guys, I tried all the methods above, but none of them worked for me. However, I found something that worked, which is to restore your network card driver to a previous version instead of the one installed by windows 8.1.

You can do this by accessing the device, right click on your network adapter Manager, click on update driver, then ' Browse my computer for driver software, and then "Let me pick from a list of... ", uncheck"Show compatible hardware"and finally select the older version of the current driver (if you don't know that, just use trial and error).

Hope this helps others who have this problem. See you soon.

The specific driver that worked for my Dell Latitude E6430 was the Broadcom 802.11n 5.100.245.200 (as dated 14/03/2012).

  • Windows 8 Dell Latitude without WiFi

I own a Dell Latitude ST tablet that I've upgraded to Windows 7 8, since this my laptop cannot find wireless networks to connect to the internet and the arrival in front of my load down to win 8, I tried everything and the Wi - Fi works as I'm running the other laptop from him. I'm no computer expert so any ideas should do step by step and in layman's language, or would it be better to take the computer for Curry or PC World and ask them to sort and cut my losses... Thanks for any help

According to Dell support site http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/latitude-st> Win7 32-bit is the latest OS, it has drivers for. You may be able to install in Compatibility Mode. Download on another PC, copy on a USB key, then your tablet.

    Hi Country4grlz,

did you install windows XP by using a XP disk provided by Dell? If so, what was the reason to perform IMRT? You will find the folder windows.old in case if you have 2 copies of Windows XP. You can refer to the below how to uninstall a second installation of a Windows operating system.

  • Latitide D810 - lost all sound with Windows 7

    Greetings!

I recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my Dell Latitude D810. After installation, I've lost all the audio features. My volume control in the Quick Launch bar States, "no Audio output device is installed". I ran the "problems of detection" to try and fix the drivers, but it wasn't able to fix it.

My next step is to check the drivers of Dell and downloads site and they do not have a driver for my computer with Windows 7. However, I have read on other sites that people have had any audio problems with installing Windows 7 on their Latitude D810s. Others have claimed to have had problems, but have been able to find the drivers for their audio problems.

Through various websites and download, I tried the following driver executables: D810_A05.exe, R99254.exe and S1wua01i.exe. It's audio drivers I found for XP and Vista, but they no longer work.

Does anyone else have other recommendations in pilot? Or links to other drivers, I can at least try?

At this point, anything would be helpful! A lot of satisfaction and thanks in advance...

    See if it works:

Download driver Sigmatel R99254. Unzip it but cancel the installation process. (Skip this step if you still have this driver).
It will unzip the files and store them in a folder on the hard disk to c:\Dell\drivers\R99254, and this folder will be a subfolder named WDM.

Open Device Manager and expand system down devices. Locate the PCI Device with one? next to it (or if it is not there, then look for "Multimedia Audio Controller"). Go to properties and select Update driver. Select to manually locate the driver and let Windows not seek.
    Go to c:\Dell\drivers\R99254\WDM

With a bit of luck, it should detect new hardware, and one of them should be the Sigmatel.

  • MY DELL LATITUDE D610 HOW CAN I UPGRADE TO THE NEW VERSION OF WINDOWS? NOW IT IS WINDOWS 7, WHAT VERSION IS SUPPORT FOR USE WELL ON MY DEVICE?

MY DELL LATITUDE D610 HOW CAN I UPGRADE TO THE NEW VERSION OF WINDOWS? NOW IT IS WINDOWS 7, WHAT VERSION IS SUPPORT FOR USE WELL ON MY DEVICE? PLEASE HELP ME

Read this: upgrade Windows 10 Dell Latitude D610

Take a look at my answer, complete instructions.

Basically speaking, Dell officially supports Windows 2000 and Windows XP on Dell Latitude D610 (and other models of Dx10).

However it can really run Windows Vista and 7 at least, as long as you max out the RAM (2 GB, 2 x 1 GB, can be purchased at a great price in eBay) and install the drivers, in particular graphics drivers, look in Device Manager and see what drivers are needed manually.

If you're lucky to have a D610 with ATi graphics card then you can even run Windows 8 and 10 with all drivers available, and I can tell you that it won't be slow dog not unlike a lot of people say, I don't have something similar (a HP Compaq nx8220) in common use. Keep as lean as possible (not bloatwares, anti-virus etc.) system, and it will serve you well.
