Windows 7 Professional, and Windows XP Mode

LV045UA #ABA product number: Envy 17 3D i7-2090nr

My main operating system is 64-bit Windows 7 Professional.

I also installed Virtual PC Windows XP.

The information in the properties for the computer, Virtual PC XP mode, displays not either 32-bit to 64-bit. This would mean 32 bits, if I wasn't running XP in a virtual machine. However, my primary system is 64-bit.

This seems to me not to be is not clear

How can I determine if the virtual XP mode is 32-bit or 64-bit

  • Problem of Windows 7 mode and Virtual PC XP

A few months ago, I bought a laptop. It was the vista operating system. I was told I could easily upgrade to Windows 7 Professional and activate the XP mode, so that I can run some of my business software that can only run in XP mode. They gave me a free upgrade to Windows 7 Home premium with the purchase of my new laptop computer.

Yesterday, my upgrade from Windows 7 Home premium arrived. I installed and then bought the online upgrade to Windows 7 Professional. After professional installation, I tried to activate Windows XP mode and I discovered that my Intel Core 2 Duo microprocessor does not support virtualization technology to run windows XP mode 7.

The place I bought the laptop has agreed to take my laptop and give me a refund. My question is how can I make sure that I don't have to pay for him any time upgrade to the professional version when I get my new computer with the right type of microprocessor?

Being understood that the question and your post has nothing to with Windows Update features (compared to the upgrade of Windows), see Windows XP Mode requirements article here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/install-and-use-windows-xp-mode-in-windows-7

If return you the computer to Vista & then go to Win7 Home Premium, you should be able to use the Win7 Pro Upgrade Anytime to another eligible computer.

How can I start/re-start Windows professional XP in safe MODE? Aid filw I get only instructed on XP Home Edition and the buttons and it tells you to follow the guests do not appear in the professional edition. I need the instructions for Pro.  Can someone help me with this?

    Original title: Safe Mode

You can start either home or Pro in SafeMode by this technique...

Keep F8 hitting twice a second immediately after you have switched on the PC. You should get a boot menu where safe mode is selectable using the up/down arrow keys.

Or, use the msconfig utility. When you do it this way, Windows starts in SafeMode permanently until you reverse the changes in msconfig...

    • Click Start
    • Click on run
    • Type msconfig and press enter
    • Click on the CHEST. INI tab
    • Check the box for/SafeBoot
    • Click OK
    • Restart the PC when prompted

    1. were there any changes (hardware or software) to the computer before the show?
    2. is this a popup to third party software?

Use the Microsoft Safety Scanner in full scan mode and remove all threats that is not detected by it and see if the problem persists.

  • Transform Windows XP Mode software to execute in Windows 7 Professional

Now that support Windows XP and Windows XP Mode are going bye-bye, how do I convert my existing programs running currently at the 'Windows Virtual PC"to run directly in Windows 7?

I know that several of my old programs already running well on my Windows 7 Pro Office (I never installed Windows XP Mode 'snap-in' on the desktop). Unfortunately, I also installed these programs on my laptop Win 7 Pro via the Windows XP Mode; That was before I realized that they would work fine without worrying. I have not seen any solution to simply convert these programs run directly in Win 7 Pro; Furthermore, I don't really like how Windows XP Mode puts it in another folder that I have yet to discover when I'm looking in the folders from Windows 7. I have no idea where the files of the "virtual" folders are stored Simple solutions on the conversion of programs in Windows XP Mode and the files, just simply work under Windows 7? I really don't want to have to reinstall the software directly in Windows 7 Pro. (Note: I am voluntarily stating "Windows 7 Professional" in different ways.)

    Thank you very much.

Do you mean simply to reinstall directly in Windows 7, as I had done on my desktop?

    That's what I mean.

  • Windows XP mode and Windows Virtual PC

My old system crashed (looked like 15 years in any case lol) and a low-cost system now has the SATA card and readers, but my old HD is ok. My new system is installed with Windows 7 Ultimate, but my old HD has WinXP with all my music, games and other software. I'll get the IDE to SATA Adapter block, but in any case, here's my question... I want to reuse my old IDE hd with all my files from WinXP on it and I did a reading in this Windows XP Mode and Windows Virtual PC and I would like to know if someone is using this download mode of Windows XP to Windows 7 and what questions have known and if it is worth, but for me it would be worth cause I had some problems with my (x 86) software from the re - install it on my Windows more recent system 7 and Win7 is a big update for me and my new system only cost me about the same price it would just go out and buy Windows 7 Ultimate lol.  The experiences and knowledge of Windows XP mode on Windows 7 would be helpful thanks in advance...

    Hi RussBrad,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community.

Based on the information, you want to know if you can run Windows XP mode without any problem in the Windows 7 system.

Windows XP Mode lets you run business software Windows XP older right on your Windows 7 desktop.

Windows XP Mode comes as a separate download and works only with Windows 7 Professional, full and business.

Windows XP Mode performance depends on the configuration of the computer.

Since you are using Windows 7 Ultimate edition, you will be able to install and use Windows XP mode without any problem.

For more information, see the articles:

    Windows XP Mode

Install and use Windows XP Mode in Windows 7

    Hope the information is useful.

  • Tungsten T3 Hot Sync in Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and WIndows XP mode

I've upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and now my Palm T3 will not be synchronized.  I downloaded desktop 4.1.4e 6.3 and 4.1.4. I tried all three in both windows 7 and windows XP mode that tells me is a 32-bit o/s but I'm really not sure.  I tried to hot sync in bluetooth in windows 7, as the T3 and laptop connect but he always tells me that the port is used by another program? Does anyone know what I have to do to get it to sync or am I've sentenced to throw my faithful T3 out? Any ideas?

Hello eaglesfan723 and welcome to the forums of Palm.

The Tungsten T3 HotSync driver is not 64-bit capable, this is why you can't get the T3 to HotSync.  Please read this thread to learn more about your options with Windows 7.

    Hello

I guess that this is caused by the graphics chip, it is possible that caused graphics card driver problems related to bad entries in the registry or in the worst case the graphics chip could badly run.

This problem started about 10 days when I used the CD of XP Professional to correct a problem. My computer is a Dell Dimension 5100 and I have two CDs that were sent to me - Dell - Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP 3 and Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Version 2005 with update Rollup 2.

Thanks again and I ran the "fix it" you suggested but it have no problem found to fix. Every thing works fine on my system, but Media Center won't play DVD. It will play CDs and videos on my system.

The initial problem was that I could not download the Blackberry Desktop Software - updates needed. The computer came with Windows XP Media Center Edition Home and I use Internet Explorer 8 as my default browser. I also use Mozilla Firefox as my backup browser.

Also note that you don't have NO Windows XP Media Center Edition, installed now if you upgraded to Windows XP Professional.
