Windows 7 stuck on step 3 of 3 loop and restarts

I tried to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10.  Unfortunately, he has been blocked on step 3/3 was updated.  It will reach 35% complete and restart itself one and repeat the process.  I tried several times to hit F8 to restart in fashion advertising safe that does not work.  I would like to restore to a point before the conversion attempt for Windows 10 or at least be able to delete the data on this computer before I need to erase and start over.

Help, please!

    Hi royfos,

    Do you have a code error message when you try to run the system restore?

    Check if you can get into safe mode. If you manage to get into safe mode, then you can run the restore of the system from there. Otherwise, another option is to perform the Startup Repair.

    Method 1: Troubleshooting Safe Mode

    Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode

    Safe mode is an option of troubleshooting for Windows that starts your computer with only basic services and features.

    To get into safe mode, check out this help article: , start your computer in safe mode

    Step 2: Run system restore

    For complete help, see this article:System Restore: frequently asked questions

    Note: If you use system restore when the computer is in safe mode, you can not undo the restore operation. However, you can run System Restore again and choose a different restore point if any.

    Method 2: Startup Repair

    Startup Repair is a Windows Vista recovery tool analysis of missing or damaged system files that may prevent Windows from starting correctly. Run it and see if that fixes the boot problem.

  • cannot restore the system with the Vista recovery disc, computer stuck in step 3 of 3 loop

    Hi all

    My computer has been blocked in the formidable step 3 of 3 loop. I followed the advice of Mr. Murphy and created the Vista recovery disk. I loaded it and followed the instructions. Everything was fine. I chose a 5 days ago restore point, and it went well until he must "finalize the restoration of files...". ». That's where he stayed - it would not be completed. I tried the restore points different, all with the same result. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Try to make with her startup repair.

    With this CD, you can also do a startup repair of your Vista OS with it.

    If she can't do a startup repair and system restore has failed, it is time to consider doing a re-install of the Vista operating system.

    See you soon.

  • Windows XP media center keeps going in a loop and will not complete the boot.

    Rebooted PC, probably because of an update, but I also dropped the mouse wireless in the word, and I don't know if that's the problem.  To start Windows and I have three choices, but if I choose safe, last known config, or normal mode, it ends the countdown and starts, but loops to the same black screen that has the countdown.  Help!   Thank you very much.

    Ideas:

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

    the problem is known as "boot loop" and it is generally caused by a lack of disk and file system tune up

    There are commands that can be executed in the disk prompt that will help stabilize the boot process.

    However, you need to start with any xp cd and launch the recovery console to log on to the disk system.

    then the disc prompt, run the following commands >:

    Chkdsk

    Fixboot

    FIXMBR

    (the fixmbr will provide a serious warning, but you can ignore the scarecrow)

    then the output, remove cd and the system should be able to boot normally again.

    II. Antivirus software is configured to scan the folder % Windir%\SoftwareDistribution.

    III. service (BITS) Background Intelligent Transfer Service does not receive a content link header.

    IV. a required system file is incorrectly registered.

    When new updates to date is now available on Windows Update today, I selected all the and installed.  Everything went well until the malicious removal tool (KB890830).  Just stuck there for 20 minutes, so I decided finally hit Cancel and restarted my computer (to apply the updates installed successfully).  After windows restarted, the malicious removal tool appeared on the list of Windows Update to update applied successfully, each after he (list of display compatibility IE KB982664) appeared as cancelled.

    It is not the first time that this problem happened to me.  (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/a33315c8-68c0-43cb-945c-7f00e6c071f2/#27e2ccbf-090f-4e66-8d12-043a03176cb3).  The last time, he was also stuck on the malicious removal tool.  I have already run the MS fix to reset my Windows Update (the aggressive option).   Why it still occur?

    I opened C:\WINDOWS\Debug\MRT. TXT and scrolls at the end of the file and I saw the following entry at the time of the day.

    Microsoft Windows malicious software removal tool [version month year]

    I am running Vista SP2.

    Anti-Malware: MSE, SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes Anti Malware.  No Norton anti-virus and deleted using their customer products removal tool from McAfee.

    Thanks a lot for your help.

    The last time, he was also stuck on the malicious removal tool.  I have already run the MS fix to reset my Windows Update (the aggressive option).   Why it still occur?

    In your original thread (14 Jul-10 & ff), we learned that:

    1. you did a facility own shortly before installing MSE. and this...

    2. While you have uninstalled the reinstalled McAfee-free trial, you did not download/run the McAfee Consumer products removal tool before installing MSE.

    Well I had you then run the tool, reset Internet Explorer and reset Windows Update by running the KB970158 Fix It in default & aggressive modes, I know not how long you had run MSE until we have done all that it is a slight chance that the steps you took resolve not behavior. That being said...

    QUESTION: Do you have all the other updates released August 10-10 install successfully? [Yes/No]

    ACTIONS:

    1. download the Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT), save it to your desktop: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=AD724AE0-E72D-4F54-9AB3-75B8EB148356

    2. temporarily disable all S * PERAntiSpyware real-time protection & b MBAM (but only if it is the paid version) & ZoneAlarm (c) (if it is always installed), and THEN select Windows Firewall. [1]

    3. double-click on the file that you saved in #1 above (e.g., windows-kb890830 - v3.10.exe) and run a quick scan. Do not TOUCH the computer until the end of the race (wait at least 30 minutes).

    4. assuming that the quick scan under #3 went well, now run a full scan. Yet once, do not TOUCH the computer until the end of the race (may take an hour or more).

    [Comment: when you download/run the MSRT tool as part of the installation of updates, analysis will take much longer time (vs. manual execution) that your system a little "tied" by the automatic updates and the entire update process does not complete until after the MSRT tool has run.] In short, be a lot more patient next time.]

    5. now open the journal (C:\WINDOWS\Debug\MRT. (TXT) & go downstairs. Highlight the last two 2 inputs (e.g., the results of the scans that you did in #3 & #4 above) & copy it to the Clipboard.

    6. open a response to my post & paste the contents of the Clipboard in your answer and your answer to the above QUESTION.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    [1] with MSE installed, real-time protections included in S * PERAntiSpyware or the paid version of MBAM and ZoneAlarm (any version) may be "overkill" for your computer. In other words, the protection in real time of the MSE anti-virus & antispyware components could be hampered by the real-time protection included with other applications. Food for thought, anyway.
  • Stuck at step 2 updated configuration
    I have vista home prem 64 bit, it was automatic updates and did last night, I don't know what he was trying to load.  He is stuck at step 2 of 3 Configuration of updates, it says 100% full and do not turn off your computer.  It has been like this since at least 6-7 hours last night.
    What to do?
    Hi Randy,
    It's been a while, we can think that the update is stuck and will not continue any further.  You can press Ctrl, Alt & Del and open Task Manager.  You should see the update on the Application tab, and you can select it and press end task.
    Click on the start ORB > Control Panel > programs and features, on the left, select view installed updates and see if the update that was being Setup finished installing.  If it does not have and does not appear on the list, you can restart your computer and try to install the update mode without failure.
    To do this, restart your pc and even if your pc is booting press the key F8 on your keyboard to enter the Advanced Boot Options menu.  On the Advanced Boot Options menu, select Safe Mode and press ENTER.
    Your computer will boot mode safe by using only the basic drivers and services, hopefully allowing Windows Update to complete the installation of the update, you are having problems with.
    Please let us know if you are making progress in this way.
