Windows Update, stuck to malicious Removal Tool KB890830

When new updates to date is now available on Windows Update today, I selected all the and installed.  Everything went well until the malicious removal tool (KB890830).  Just stuck there for 20 minutes, so I decided finally hit Cancel and restarted my computer (to apply the updates installed successfully).  After windows restarted, the malicious removal tool appeared on the list of Windows Update to update applied successfully, each after he (list of display compatibility IE KB982664) appeared as cancelled.

It is not the first time that this problem happened to me.  (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/a33315c8-68c0-43cb-945c-7f00e6c071f2/#27e2ccbf-090f-4e66-8d12-043a03176cb3).  The last time, he was also stuck on the malicious removal tool.  I have already run the MS fix to reset my Windows Update (the aggressive option).   Why it still occur?

I opened C:\WINDOWS\Debug\MRT. TXT and scrolls at the end of the file and I saw the following entry at the time of the day.

I am running Vista SP2.

Anti-Malware: MSE, SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes Anti Malware.  No Norton anti-virus and deleted using their customer products removal tool from McAfee.

1. you did a facility own shortly before installing MSE. and this...

2. While you have uninstalled the reinstalled McAfee-free trial, you did not download/run the McAfee Consumer products removal tool before installing MSE.

Well I had you then run the tool, reset Internet Explorer and reset Windows Update by running the KB970158 Fix It in default & aggressive modes, I know not how long you had run MSE until we have done all that it is a slight chance that the steps you took resolve not behavior. That being said...

QUESTION: Do you have all the other updates released August 10-10 install successfully? [Yes/No]

ACTIONS:

1. download the Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT), save it to your desktop: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=AD724AE0-E72D-4F54-9AB3-75B8EB148356

2. temporarily disable all S * PERAntiSpyware real-time protection & b MBAM (but only if it is the paid version) & ZoneAlarm (c) (if it is always installed), and THEN select Windows Firewall. [1]

3. double-click on the file that you saved in #1 above (e.g., windows-kb890830 - v3.10.exe) and run a quick scan. Do not TOUCH the computer until the end of the race (wait at least 30 minutes).

4. assuming that the quick scan under #3 went well, now run a full scan. Yet once, do not TOUCH the computer until the end of the race (may take an hour or more).

[Comment: when you download/run the MSRT tool as part of the installation of updates, analysis will take much longer time (vs. manual execution) that your system a little "tied" by the automatic updates and the entire update process does not complete until after the MSRT tool has run.] In short, be a lot more patient next time.]

5. now open the journal (C:\WINDOWS\Debug\MRT. (TXT) & go downstairs. Highlight the last two 2 inputs (e.g., the results of the scans that you did in #3 & #4 above) & copy it to the Clipboard.

6. open a response to my post & paste the contents of the Clipboard in your answer and your answer to the above QUESTION.

[1] with MSE installed, real-time protections included in S * PERAntiSpyware or the paid version of MBAM and ZoneAlarm (any version) may be "overkill" for your computer. In other words, the protection in real time of the MSE anti-virus & antispyware components could be hampered by the real-time protection included with other applications. Food for thought, anyway.

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. click right on the file saved in #1 above, and then select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    4. If Webroot Antivirus with Spysweeper is installed or if you do NOT plan on buying of Webroot Spysweeper, uninstall this application, too, then reboot once more.

    5. open IE8 32 bit (only!) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 [ignore the section will APPLY to] & run it in DEFAULT and modes difficulty then AGGRESSIVE. [1]

    6. restart & test.

    First, download the drivers for the device in question and is they don't are not already in a zip file, place them in a backup of the folder on your desktop. Once completed, click Start > run > type or paste mrt.exe > OK. Now run a quick scan. Once completed, check the results to see if the drivers for the device in question are detected as malware. Let us know the results and we can go from there.

    I came across another thread with the same query as mine and after reading all the reviews, I decided to do the same thing that the "asker" which was to educate Secunia PSI to ignore instructions from manual update for the original program expired. Secunia PSI shows now 100% on my programs updated and everything seems to work OK.
    I obviously confused and put in the wrong program for removal in my 1st question.

  • Windows Update stuck at 'Check updates'

    Original title: Windows Update stuck

    I had to recover my laptop windows 7 back to out-of-box state system. Once presented to my office, I immediately went to Windows Update to install all of the updates that I needed. After installing SP1, and restart the computer, windows update to update the update agent, so he could get some more updates.     My computer ran a mandatory update on 20/10/14 to install Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool for Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2 x 64 edition-October 2014 (KB890830). Since the update I can not either of my browsers to load. I'm showing a connection wi - fi and have even attached to my phone, but still not get anything to load. I'm not sure what to do to fix this problem. Any ideas on what could be the problem and how to solve?

    UPDATE: well, if this seems to be a firewall problem. When I disable my Norton firewall, my web browsers work fine. My problem now is to find out how to get this new update and firewall to play nice together. Any suggestions?

  • Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool KB890830 computer preventing it from closing.

    I use Windows XP and several months ago, I received to update KB890830 and installed it.  As soon as the installation has been completed, I was unable to stop the computer.  He would rather go through the reboot cycle and remains lit.  I did a restore to an earlier date and the system worked as expected.

    Several times since, then I did the updates Windows and inadvertenly included the KB890830 in the update and whenever the same process occurred - it makes a "restart" instead of "shut down".

    General information

    I had a system that works with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. It is a platform for development and simulation that encrypted weeks of configuration and installs operational mode. It was installed in 2012 after my old motherboard has been damaged (I had to get a new license... not just).

    I opted for Windows 10 months ago, but because I wasn't ready I postponed. All of a sudden he just kept tenacious and like a child (not the friendliest approach Microsoft!).

    Last week he suddenly put a gun to my head and me has everything just no other choice to postpone, just install. Fortunately, I had done a backup of the Image of the previous day, so with the gun to my head I let him go ahead with the 10 of Windows 'upgrade '.

    Upgrade Windows 10 seemed to go wrong to 83% or more with a screen saying she was hurt that she would try again turned. If she did, and this time he APPEARED to go. Then I got to the Windows 10 for final configuration.

    It is configured to automatic updates, but all other settings give the same problem, no updates are installing more than 16 who are already there:

    So, how can I get Windows Update to work again? I lost about 4 days of work thanks to this "upgrade".

    For what I was able to see the update of Windows is the latest version of wuauserv.dll. It is an important part of WindowsUpdate.log of today. Note, however, that initially I had intentionally disconnected the network cable, reinstated later, but the problem persists. Note also there are several DatStor warnings about adding a URL that does not. :

    Windows Home screen is stuck it just keep going along in a loop, with message configuring updates 3 of 3, this started after attempting to upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10 I can't

    I have also the same problem rmahmud28 is seen except mine is Windows 7. He is stuck with 'Check updates' and I've already updated the Windows Update Agent. I tried some other stuff, like your FixIt tools, but nothing.

    No idea why or how... the problem was solved by itself. Looks like I have left no system check all these 300 updates available for download.

  • Windows Update stuck after refresh.

    I've had this laptop for a couple of yours now. A few days ago an error BSOD kernel data Inpage Error message. So I refreshed the laptop as nothing else worked.
