Windows 7 to windows 8 Easy slow transfer and buggy

Trying to transfer files from a computer laptop windows 7 to a windows laptop 8 (the two Samsungs BTW)

After following the instructions for a network connection and put the magic number in the windows box 8

They (as in laptops) check for Updates of simple file transfer and rub a line from 0 to 400 and something

The box of windows 8 and then stops and displays a weird message on the other laptop being in another language (the two are set to English (UK), kbd UK UK local kbd US well and really removed)

Click OK in this dialog box, however, and she proceeds to transfer files very slowly

I tried on a 802.11n wireless and then a 100 M Ethernet wired and he chose to transfer about 700Kbs

+++Therefore the 60 GB will be around 200 hours of transfer.

More than a week BTW, a week in which two laptops can be used.

Should I go and get an iPad?

Hi Michael,

The transfer time depends on the size of the file/disc that you are trying to transfer from one computer to another computer.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state, and then try to transfer files and check if the problem persists. Clean boot will help you determine which third party/PPP program is causing this problem.

  • Win7 - windows fade too slow in and out; can I disable this feature?

    Hello

I just did a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit and some other programs.  This PC has only 4 GB of RAM, and it seems a bit lazy.  I noticed that when I open and close windows or dialog boxes, rather than just appearing and dissappearing different application, they just melted and melted out of sight.
It looks nice on a system with sufficient power to deal with, but on this system, the fade in / fade on takes long enough that it's boring, and I think that it is affecting the systems overall responsiveness.
I would like to disable this feature to see if it helps.  Can someone please tell me what we call this function and how do I do this?
    Thank you

  • Windows Vista to Windows 7 easy transfer

I tried to use the simple Windows for Windows 7 easy transfer to transfer files on my old laptop (Vista 32-bit, SP2) for my new laptop (Windows 7, 64-bit). I downloaded the WET and I get the message "Windows Easy Transfer has encountered an unrecoverable error. Please restart application. "Tried several times. However, even though I have uninstalled/reinstalled the patch, I still get the same message.

Windows Easy Transfer of 64-bit to 32-bit, or vice versa

    Hello

I'm trying to fix my settings my current machien to a W7 VM user to make sure that I have the transfer settings and I get all the information I want.  My machine is 64 bit, but the VM is 32-bit.  I can't seem to get the easy transfer Windows from Windows Vista to play with Windows 7 easy transfer and can't seem to install the transfer Windows 7 because it gives me only a 32-bit version to install...

How I have a 64-bit Windows 7 Easy Transfer to install and if I get one to install and build a transfer saved the data file has there 'restore' on a 32-bit Windows?

    George George P Botuwell, programmer

    Hi George P Boutwell,.

Thank you for using answers Forum.

I think that VMware has a 64-bit/function version. You will need to contact them to verify this.
64-bit to 32-bit is not supported by Windows Easy Transfer, as far as I know.

    I hope this helps.

  • "the password is incorrect" after using Windows 7 Easy Transfer

The problem is that the 'password is incorrect' after using Windows 7 Easy Transfer.

I've already studied this problem on the Internet and in online forums.  A lot of people seems to have the same question/problem/question.  Noone has a solution.  Several members of the staff of Microsoft technical support provided responses which do not solve the problem, explain what is happening, or were intended to solve the problem of evil.  For example, many responses were that political Microsoft does not provide assistance when retrieving passwords.  OK, but this isn't what is asked for.  There is a problem and it would be good if someone has recognized that there is a problem and - at least - it is being researched if there is not already a solution.  Anyway, as many have already asked, here is my point of view trying to find a solution to this problem:

Used Windows 7 Easy Transfer to move user accounts and files between an old 32 bit Vista PC to a new PC 64 bit Windows 7. The transfer was made on a network without using an easy transfer cable. There is no errors during the transfer and user accounts on PC Windows 7 seem to be transferred correctly. Once connected to a user account on the new PC, opens a window titled 'Migration of protected content'. Text indicates that the protected content is transferred and request a password to be entered in a password field. I entered the PC Vista user account password, but the password was not accepted, and this error message is printed "the password is incorrect". All the transferred accounts had exactly the same problem, even if the original Vista PC account password has been entered correctly.

Studied this problem on the Internet and a suggestion to solve the problem is that the password requested is the STEM of simple transfer is used to start the transfer. I have re-transferred from user accounts and entered to the STEM of easy transfer when windows 'Protected content Migration' asked a password. Always to receive the same error message "password is incorrect" on all user accounts.

You will need to determine what password is requested. In my view, it should be the original account on the old computer password, but perhaps the easy transfer ROD. If it is not what should it be? If it's neither of the two, which? If it's the original on the old computer account password or easy transfer ROD, why aren't these being accepted because I tried them both. Once the correct password is available, is it possible to open the window of 'Protected content Migration' to enter the password without having to use Easy Transfer to transfer the accounts?

Finally, what is the protected content that is transferred? How will I know what it is?  It doesn't seem to be something missing in the accounts of user who is easily visible by me. If the protected content is not necessary then not being is not able to access may not be a problem. Because I don't know what content is protected, I have no way to assess if not available is important.

    Pegasus,

What password? The Windows logon password? Yes

Have you tried to log on as an administrator? Yes

Or using your database password key USB key file? No, but why?  I know what are all passwords logon and they seized everything correctly.  Again, the question that must be answered - by someone who knows - what password is asked?  Why are all the suggestions "try this or try that."  Nobody seems to be able to tell which password is requested or why.  What is the protected content that is transferred.  I don't think that there is nothing like DRM content on the original system.  Why this request appears?  Anyone know?

  • I try to install the windows easy transfer and I get the error.

I try to install the windows easy transfer and I get the error, "the version of windows you have installed does not match the update you are trying to install.  I download and install the 32 and 64-bit version for XP.  I also downloaded and tried both 32 and 64-bit version for windows 7.

On which version of Windows 7 you are trying to install Easy Transfer?  Easy transfer seems to be automatically installed on Windows 7. You run Easy Transfer on Windows 7 to 'prepare' the copy, you need to be running on the 'old' PC.

  • Windows 8 upgrade - slow WiFi

    Hello

I recently updated my Acer Aspire 5750 G for Windows 8. After you format and do a fresh install because I was stuck in the 'auto repair loop', I found myself having to re - install all the drivers, etc.

I advanced and installed all necessary drivers, including Wireless LAN ones. However, I get now ridiculously slow speed when the WiFi. Ethernet works normally.

I think it's a Broadcom 802.11 b/g/n card. The site provides drivers for a certain card Atheros. I installed, it tells me the device is not found, but still installed a Broadcom (5.100.245.20) driver.

I also updated the BIOS with the latest version (1.21).

I don't really know what more can be done, I installed and uninstall the drivers many times, tried a few old Windows 7, but am always incapitated with very slow transfer rates.

Any help would be really appreciated, because now I'm stuck in the living room with the Ethernet cable!

    I fixed it:

I have downloaded the Windows 7 Broadcom drivers on the Acer Support site, ran the installation in Windows 7 compatibility mode (it crashes if not), and now my WiFi speed is back to normal.
