Windows 7 tries to connect to an unknown wireless / network wifi (neighbours)

I am new to Windows 7 and any ordinary member of the public - not a computer expert to provide basic instructions (model instructions) If you are able to help. I have posted this question elsewhere and had 3 responses but I can't follow responses.) The problem. I have my computer (windows 7) set up a home wireless network that is secured with addresses MAC etc. I love my connection and when I click on the icon to the right low cnr of my screen - its listed in the box. Only problem is there other wireless (probably neighbors) are also, and the computer often tries to connect to these institutions (in vain because they are also fixed). These wireless networks come and go in the box and when they reappear, the computer will always try to connect. When trying to connect, I have my own connection loose and need to reset it to the top. I checked the option automatically connect to these networks, but not matter how many times I do it, it always appears again, check mark. Oh and it's just done as I type this - its very frustrating. I want neighbors prospectus and begging them to stop their networks! Hope I have not to lose this position.

    Hello

Check the firewall it is maybe it has been reset.

    In general.

Most laptops have a physical switch for the wireless card. Read the manual of the computer and make sure that the wireless adapter is on.

Check the Device Manager for the wireless card valid entry.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_dm.jpg

If there is no valid entry, remove any entry from fake and re - install the drivers for the wireless card.

Check network connections to make sure that you have a network icon/entry wireless connection, and that the properties of the icon (right-click on the icon) are correctly configured with the TCP/IPv4 protocol in the properties of network connections.

Make sure that if there is Wireless Utility a utility vendor is not running with the native Windows wireless utility.

Make sure you firewall No. preventing / blocks wireless components to join the network.

Above everything is OK and it connects to the wireless router. Log in from any computer which is, or can be connected to the router with a wire wireless, disable wireless security, make sure that the wireless streaming is enabled and try to connect with no. wireless security.

When the work turns on the Wireless security.

Note * people sometimes make mistakes in writing and retype the password for security.

Another way is to copy in the menu of the router and then paste it when asked of the wireless card.

    --------------------------------------------------

I really checked and configured every thing and it doesn't work.

Software firewall application that is not configured to allow local traffic (between the computer and the router is also a possible problem.
some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .

  • Windows Vista Home Basic Edition, Acer laptop wireless, Linksys router and connect Lexmark X 9350 wireless network.

I'm tired... I tried everything I can think of, as well as everything I can find online in order to connect my printer Lexmark X 9350 WiFi for my Acer laptop which is connected to my home network wireless via my linksys router. At the same time, the printer has been set up through my existing wireless network and was working properly. (FOR A SINGLE DAY!) Then I got the bright idea to installNorton Anti Virus Security. Since then, my printer stopped working through the wireless network. It works as a stand-alone Copier and fax machine, but nothing of the printer.  I contacted Lexmark via online support, but their suggestions did not work or were so confusing that it would take a computer technology to interpret the instructions to correct the problem. I learned more about the Wi - Fi networks and computer by trial and error, I should be able to re - connect my printer the eyes bandaged.  Help, please... This problem is ongoing for weeks. Thank you so much in advance.

Just a thought, as you say it started with Norton check his firewall exceptions:

Have a read of the link above re Vista file and printer sharing.

  • Error code 651 while trying to connect my computer to the network

    * Original title: Please help

I am trying to connect my computer to work at our network and when I try to connect to our broadband network he said WAN mini port connection and then it gives me an error code 651.  Does anyone have a suggestion?

You are probably connected through the bad device.  You must have a wireless to laptop (?).  If so,.

    Control Panel

    Network and Internet

    Network Sharing Center

Change the settings for the adapter.

Make sure that the network adapter to use is selected

Right-click on it and select Connect

  • Unable to connect to ground or wireless network

I can't connect to my land or wireless network.  I tried to connect through my laptop to work and land / wireless worked as expected (e.g. problem is not with the router).  Previously, I was able to connect to the network via my computer at home.  Some information:

    1. I get the following message when I consult my network connections:

    "Connection status: unknown.

The dependency service or group was able to start. »

2 Windows cannot find any wireless networks in range.

    3. I tried to use Windows Network Diagnostics and the message I got was "The Windows Wireless Service is not running on this computer."  I tried to start the service, but couldn't.

I would appreciate any you can give troubleshooting tips!  Thank you.

    Hi Kelly1986,

    1. what happens when you try to connect by using wired connection?
    2. do you have security software installed on the computer?
    3. did you of recent changes on the computer?
    4. What is the error message when the service started?

First of all, I would say that check you what happens when you connect using the wired connection.

Check also in mode safe mode with Networking if you are able to connect to internet using wired connection.

Steps to start in safe mode with networking
1 restart your computer if it is running.
    2. press the F8 key after your initially on powers computer.
    3. Once you see the menu Advanced Startup Options , you can stop tapping.
    4. use the up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.
    5. Select Safe Mode with network and pressenter.
    6. you should see loading drivers and wait please.
    7. you should then be at the Welcome screen.
    8. connect to your computer using an account with administrator privileges.

Start your computer in safe mode
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Restart the computer to return to normal mode

Disable the security software on the computer and try to start the service and check.

Important: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

If you still cannot start the try running SFC scan service that would have a search system files corrupted on the computer and replace them.

  • MacMini don't auto connect to the preferred wireless network when the router reboots

My MacMini is located to join my favorite wifi network. Where I stay, there is usually a power failure close to a minute or two during the day.

My setup is such that my MacMini running 24 x 7 with a backup uninterruptible but my router (AirPort Express) turns off during the power outage. When the router goes off, my Mac disconnects from the network which should, but now when my router turns, the MacMini reconnect to the preferred network.

It shows the network preferred list, and when I manually click on this subject, it reconnects immediately without asking for password. But this will not happen automatically.

If I restart my MacMini it reconnects very well. The problem occurs only when my MacMini is but my router restarts.

To reproduce this problem on your side, just turn off your router and once your Mac disconnects from the network back on the router. See if your mac reconnects to your wifi fine.

Any solution or advice for this problem?

    Thank you.

Please test after taking each of the steps that you have not already tried it. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.

    1. If possible, test at another network, such as a public access point or hotspot created by a mobile phone. Some Wi - Fi routers are not fully compatible with Apple devices. More specifically, the security mode for the network, as shown in the network preferences window, should be 2 personal WPA or WPA 2 Enterprise. If the router doesn't support either of these modes, it should be replaced with another.

    2. make sure that the network is on the list of favorites by following these instructions. It is important to read the article, as it is the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem. If you skip any step, the problem cannot be resolved. Make sure that the box marked

Remember this computer has joined the network

    is checked.

3 follow the instructions in this article to support.

    4. reset the PRAM.

    5. take note of all your parameters of connection Wi - Fi in the network preferences pane, then remove the connection in the connection list and re-create it with the same settings. This by clicking on the icon of the lowest sign from the list of connection, select Wi - Fi as the interface in the form that opens. Select join the other network in the network name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when you are prompted, and then save it in the keychain.

    6. in the menu location at the top of the network preferences window, select Edit locations. A sheet will fall. Click on the plus sign to create a new location. Give it the name of your choice. In the new location, set up the Wi - Fi service with the same settings that you used before. Click on apply and test.

    7. run the Keychain Access application. Find and remove all the network password AirPort elements that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.

8 turn off the Bluetoothand the test.

    9. reset the system management controller.

    10. This step should not be necessary, but he has been advised by the Apple Support in some cases, apparently as a solution for a bug. Open the energy saving pane in system preferences. If necessary, click the lock icon in the lower left corner to unlock the settings. When prompted, enter your administrator login password.

Select the Power Adapter tab and uncheck the boxes marked

Continued access to the Wi - Fi network

    and

    Enable the NAP...

If it is present. Then, if the computer is a MacBook, select the stack tab and uncheck the box

    Enable the NAP...

    11. reinstall OS X.

  • Cannot connect Tecra 9000 to wireless network

    Hello

I am trying to connect my laptop Toshiba T9000 to my BT home Hub 2.0 Wireless v but a little difficulty.
The laptop recognizes the hub, but every time I click on connect, I get the same message.

""Windows cannot connect to the selected network. " The network can be is no longer in range. Please refresh the list of available networks and try to connect again"

I went through a few troubleshooting steps to resolve this problem, but always without success.
Can I update the driver? My inclination is that this may have something to do with the laptop is not able to support WPA?

I am not very computer but if anyone has any additional input to help me with this question then I would be very happy.

    Kind regards
    Answer by quoting

    > Can I update the driver? My inclination is that this may have something to do with the laptop is not able to support WPA?
    This may be possible

The point is that this laptop is an oldie and the wireless network adapter appears to be old too.
I ve no idea what WLan card you have, but you could try to connect to the WLan without use of encryption settings. Disable encryption on the router Wlan and test connectivity again. of course, this must be done only for testing purposes
The wireless network must be always secure

The alternative could be the use of external USB WLAN, it would be the easiest and fastest way for that to be resolved

    I will have these disorders:
    • When I "manage network connections", none are present now while 10 + networks should be there.
    • When I "diagnose and repair" the wireless network it says: "this computer is set to connect manually to"Netgear F8"" is not a router I know or preferred my network

    • I have reset, turned on and off and enabled the network card
PS. connection to the preferred network via LAN internet gives computer problem

OK, so it has been set to 0 (the DHCPNode) and I changed it.

What strikes me as odd, however, is that earlier tonight the problem cleared up. I don't know what has changed.

I noticed it happened because I was playing a game online (with LAN) and jumped rope, but I was able to continue playing.  During the inspection of more I noticed that all the saved networks were back and I connect to my local network.

I then remove the Netgear network recorded, that I didn't.

Again, thank you for your time and help,

  • Win 7 does not recognize that I am connected to my home wireless network.

Recently, I upgraded my desktop and my laptop at home to Win 7. I'm trying to set up a home network, but on my laptop, I can't change my home network location. Even though my laptop is connected to the internet via my wireless router, Windows don't think that I'm connected to a network. When I click on "connect to a network", it shows that I am connected to my wireless router. When I try to set up a home network on the laptop, it tells me I need to change the network location of the Public at home, but since he did not think that I am connected, it will not allow to do me this.  I searched the internet and worked through it for hours, but can't seem to find a solution to this problem. Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

    Ideas:

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

I had this same problem.  I have a home group on my desktop running win 7 64 bit.  My laptop (win 7 64 bit) could not connect because the internet connection was showing pubic hair and I couldn't change it.  Here's what I did.  I deleted all my networks and groups off the laptop computer.  I restarted my laptop.  On my desktop, I went into Control Panel, home group and consulted my password.  I also need my wep key of wireless network.

To better understand, my wireless network name is cleopatraiz

On my laptop, I went into the wireless network connections through the status bar at the bottom right which displays all networks wireless scope.  I clicked on my wireless (cleopatraiz) and it prompted for the wep key.  I entered that and then I went into newwork & Sharing Center, was now showing my active network as cleopatriz, I clicked on choose home group and sharing options and joined using my password of the Group House of desktop computers.  It worked.
