My computer Windows 8 acted as weird after I have updated to 8.1 that according to me. Windows Movie Maker does not recognize the files that it used to recognize. My Google Chrome acted a lot, just like my files. But the worst is that I can not reset my computer to factory settings to solve this problem. When I try to reset it to factory settings, it just says, "no changes."

It is very frustrating and so now I have to see if my computer update will fix all this. My computer tells me that I am due for an update when I login, but when I go to

    Settings PC > Windows Update

The Windows Update screen will load, load and load and I'll it let it charge for hours and hours, but it keeps loading. Never, he shows me the update I need. There is also no error code for the update because it won't load at all.

It's frustrating because I don't understand why I can't reset my computer completely or update. I did the research for hours and hours to solve this problem and I became irratible trying to fix computers.

I think that all this comes from the update and I can't fix it. I had a lot of people try and fix it, but usually, I'm able to fix computers or searching for the answer to fixing it, but not this time.

If someone knows the solution to this problem, feel free to respond. I ended up getting tired of all these questions and I don't know what else to do.

    Hi Kaitlyn,

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. We are here to help and guide you in the right direction.

To better understand the issue, I would need more information on your side.

    1. What is the number of brand and model of the computer? (So that I can help you find the device drivers on the site of computer manufacturer)

    2. what measures all troubleshooting have you tried?

This problem might have occurred because of these reasons:
    1. lack of Windows updates.
    2. If the device drivers are not updated.
    3 corrupt system files.

Before you start the troubleshooting steps allows you to download and install the latest device drivers for all devices in the computer manufacturer's website. Check if it helps. If the problem persists, try the steps listed here and see if it helps:

    Method 1:
I suggest you to reset components Windows Update, which fixes corrupted Windows Update components and help you install Windows updates.

    Method 2:
If the problem persists, I suggest to start the computer in Mode safe mode with network and check if the problem persists or not. If the problem does not occur in Mode safe mode with networking, you can set up your computer in a clean boot and check if it helps.

    Step 1
    :
Start the computer in safe mode with network. In Safe Mode with networking starts with a minimal set of drivers and files.

Start settings for Windows (including safe mode)

Note: After the clean boot troubleshooting steps, see the "How to reset the computer to start as usual after a clean boot troubleshooting" section in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

    Method 3:
If the problem persists, you can run the audit and the auditor of file system (CFS) tool if this solves the problem. SFC scan would be a system file corrupt on the computer search and replace.

When you try to install my CD with Nero 7 legitimate on Windows 10 IP, I get a message that there not right after the declaration of the wizard that is to install DirectX. Why it does not install on Win10, but fits perfectly on Win XP, 7, 8 and 8.1? I had several programs that will install not on Win10. This could be a strong deterrent for users who want to spend 10, but won't because 10 will allow the installation of software, they are owners and used for years on other Windows OS, even the most recent as Win8.1.

This becomes a serious problem. I do not believe that Microsoft would intentionally vandalize their own operating system but, that's what I'm thinking... everything to force us to Windows 10. I do a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro x 64 bit on a regular basis and this is a question. The first time that I started to meet it, I studied the problem to find that I had to install some updates before letting Windows try one it automatically. Fine, problem solved. Then, I started having the same problem again. Search again and find ago now more updates, I have to do before letting Windows Update automatically. So now I am back to the drawing board with the SAME FREAKIN PROBLEM. Seriously, Microsoft has to stop screwing of update Windows 7 system. I DO NOT PUT AT LEVEL 10 CRAP! Windows update and SP1 gave me the same problem and I used this hole day to RESOLVE.

Windows 7 is not bootable. Safe mode Windows 7 was not bootable, - stop at classpnp.sys.  I used the line of command of the rescue disk and Linux (!) to fix it.  And then little important reading / advice on this forum.

After a few reboots failed, I tried a restore of windows rescue disk, but windows update has somehow erased all my restore point! (Argh)

Then I looked in the log file c:\windows\winsxs\poqexec.log and found a reference to the error: (obs this folder has some 70,000 + files)

  • Inspiron 11-Windows, November 10 update causes white screen

Everything worked fine with Windows, 10 July upgrade of 8.1.  Then Windows 10 update in November 1511 causes deadlock blank screen.  After trying everything I could think I touched the screen and Windows suite to start normally.  I've updated the BIOS, I reinstalled Windows 8.1 then installed Windows 10 July build and everything works fine.  November update automatically installs and the problem comes back.  I disabled the function of quick start and came back to the old drivers.  No change.  Problems is still there.  I have no device USB and no software/apps not installed at this time.  Dell support spent a lot of time with me on the phone and tried everything and NO success.  Problems is still there.

This sounds like the same problem, I got several weeks back, when I upgraded my Dell 3148 of the original Windows 10 (build 10240) to Windows 10 1511 (build 10586).  I lost almost a whole day trying to figure what happened.  Here's what I found...:

My 3148 worked perfectly with Windows 8.1 - everything was fine.  When I upgraded to Windows 10 build 10240 in August, it was working fine as well.  When I upgraded to Windows 10 build 10586 in November, the system would block at the start, a black screen.

In my case, I have determined that the cause of the hang is the Synaptics touchpad.  If you uninstall the driver for the touchpad (falling back to the default Windows for the touchpad mouse driver), then the laptop starts fine.  But you lose gestures, acceleration, etc. with the touchpad, which was really annoying.

I tried to back out the Synaptics driver to a previous version (did not help), I tried to back out the Intel I2C driver to a previous version (did not help either).  I gave image laptop computer by using the recovery DVD, then upgraded to Windows 10 build 10586, then accrued all the drivers of Intel system and the Synaptics driver to the original (working) Windows versions 8.1 and it did not help either.

I tried all the drivers Windows 10 new on Dell 3148 support site and it did not help - the laptop hangs just at the start.

So basically the Windows 10 TH2 10586 build will not work on the Dell 3148 at this time.

Ultimately I gave up and reconfigured to 8.1 Windows again and disabled all Windows 10 forced upgrade of reminders that pushes Microsoft (using http://blog.ultimateoutsider.com/2015/08/using-gwx-stopper-to-permanently-remove.html that works very well).

I hope that Dell (or Microsoft) solves this serious problem of compatibility, because I really want to use Windows 10, but he has basically no longer works.  At the present time I am back on Windows 8.1 and the laptop works fine once more.

I hope this helps... and Dell if you read this, please someone look at this...!

Thank you, Martin. The thing is that my .NET and service packs would have to install. Don't forget that my problem was not downloaded from the update, but the installation. I think I found the answer. My Norton Internet security and Antivirus had expired. When I got Windows security updates, I had no program to receive these updates. I renewed my subscription, and everything worked. It has not been easy. However. I had to keep doing updates on Norton security until I received the message "no new updates were found" after that, I got all the new definitions and update of WIndows was allowed to install thanks to the new KB for your help.
