Windows 8.1 on HP Envy
I just upgraded to 8.1 Windows and added that all the recommended HP drivers and updates. Now, there is no sound and an error message that the upgrade to the internal speakers is a problem. What should I do?
Hi SharonTN,
I just discovered the same problem with my laptop HP Envy 17 TS a moment ago. I updated yesterday to 8.1 Windows and my audio doesn't work anymore, but I didn't notice until today. After reinstalling a driver Intel graphics to try to resolve the problem (just like others related to HDMI sound), which did not work, I came across a post on the HP forums who spoke to reinstall the audio driver using HP Recovery for Windows 7. While it is not exactly the same thing, the point is to use HP Recovery Manager.
My shortcut for you: look for the HP icon in your status bar at the bottom of the screen. Click it to open the center of the HP utility. Click the HP Recovery Manager. On the left side of the dialog box, see the topic "I need help", and then click on "reinstall drivers and Applications. Check the box 'IDT High Definition (HD) Audio Driver', then click on the 'Install' button below. Reboot when finished.
Good luck.

Installation of Windows 7 64 bit on Envy M6-1205dx - I'm screwed for now...
I just want to M6-1205dx... First thing I did was bust on my CD of Windows 7 64-bit... I enabled legacy mode so that it can boot from CD... I deleted all but the recovery partition (thinking it would allow me to go to Windows 8 I if desired)... I install W7, and then he got all the way to the end of the installation and gave error "" windows cannot configure at installed on this hardware "and won't be finished...»
Then, I discovered that it is not a recovery (must have need of one of the other partitions I deleted) and given that manufacturers no longer include media (all the cents.35 it cost them) I'm totally screwed...
I really wish I had loaded W7, but if that's impossible, I would put 8 on!
Any ideas?
Thank you
Today, I had a Client who wanted to Downgrade to Windows 7 Windows 8 on a laptop HP Envy M6. After that reading many articles about everyones unsuccessful attempts to install Windows 7 on this laptop, I had to respond.
First Things First
1. go into the BIOS and enable the Legacy Mode.
2. under the Legacy boot order - have the CD - RW / DVD - RW DRIVE Boot First.
3. restart the computer
4. press the "ESC" button when she said HP or when it says press ESC for Boot Options
5. Select "F9" for "Boot Device Options '.
NOTE: DO NOT SELECT THE ' INTERNAL CD/DVD ROM DRIVE (UEFI) - even knowing that you have your Windows 7 DVD in the drive
6 SELECT ' INTERNAL CD/DVD-ROM DRIVE (this is the Option to boot Legacy & is the difference between failure and success.7. install Windows 7 normally
PLEASE NOTE: DELETE ALL PARTITIONS ON THE DRIVE C, INCLUDING THE RECOVERY. IF YOU DO DELETE A RECOVERY, THIS PROCESS WILL NOT WORK.
8. upon completion of the installation of Windows 7. Open the Device Manager. You will notice that there are several devices that the drivers are not installed. PCI device / Sm Bus controller / network card / adapter Ethernet / USB controller / USB Controller.
9 go to the following Web page of HP and install Audio / LAN / WIFI / CARD READER / GRAPHICS for Windows 7 64 bit, providing that you have installed a 64-bit Windows Version.
Don't forget not under "Input Devices" to download the card - reader This will install the driver for the PCI device in Device Manager.
In Device Manager - you'll end up with SM Bus controller and 2 USB controllers to install.
10 navigate to this Wepage Lenovo for the Bus SM AMD controller driver. Download the file (DO NOT RUN) and install as usual. Accept the license agreement. After completing the driver installation, the device shows as installed SM Bus controller Manager (possibly after a reboot).http://support.Lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?docid=DS019868
11. Finally, you need to install the drivers for USB 3.0 to your card controller mother AMD. Go to the following Web site to download these drivers.
http://support.Lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?docid=DS030088
NOTE: RUN-DOWNLOAD & INSTALL normally
12. open the device Again Manager - check the peripheral No. are yellow (point yellow question mark)13. restart the PC after installing all the drivers
14. after rebooting, open the Device Manager and you will see that all devices have been installed.

Windows 7 drivers for HP ENVY Sleekbook 6-1126sa
Hello
I have a HP ENVY Sleekbook 6-1126sa. I need to have Windows 7 (not Windows 8). I installed Windows 7 (no UEFI). It's pretty simple. Now I find there is no Windows 7 drivers on the HP support site. HP support site advises to use Windows updates to update drivers or visit the manufacturer's Web site. Problem is I need an Internet connection to run Windows Update but cannot find the Ralink Wireless drivers. Looking for Ralink manufacturers website I find http://www.ralinktech.com/en/ (which States that the Ralink site merged with the Web of MediaTek site and one for pilots redirects to http://www.mediatek.com/_en/07_downloads/01_windows.php). Maybe somebody has an idea which driver I'm supposed to use? Updates of Windows actually work?
Does anyone know if HP intend to provide Windows 7 for HP ENVY Sleekbook 6-1126sa laptop drivers (and indeed any other portable newly acquired)?
Kind regards
Keith

8.1 Windows drivers for the HP ENVY 17-3000eb laptop
Y at - it an update of drivers for a computer laptop hp envy 17-3000eb in the pipeline.
And if they are coming they appear here
http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=us & LC = in & Product = 5187210
Thank you
Ronny
I'll have to accept this as a solution, just can not say that I am happy with it.
Will they (hp) have a version of windows 8 and my laptop is just over a year, then they should have a version 8.1 to.
But then I would not have bought the retail or whatever.
This is IMHO a bad habit for HP as well as for Microsoft, who, in their great wisdom, made sure that a .x upgrade cannot use the same drivers.
I'll wait until amd drivers cease to be beta, and then try to upgrade.
Thank you lasvegaswireman for pointing me in the right direction.

Hello
I recently bought a HP Envy X 360 laptop for work. The laptop comes with Windows preinstalled 10.
I'm doing a clean install of Windows 7 and during the installation, I get an error message "A required CD/DVD drive driver is missing. If you have a drive floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.
Novel if the Windows installation media is in the Cd/DVD drive, you can remove safely for this step"
I'm doing the installation via a USB key. The laptop has 3 USB ports and I believe these are all 3.0
Any help is greatly appreciated.

c:\temp\mount
c:\temp\DVD_Files

-l' other contains x 86 vs x 64-put-the separate directories in separate directories.
c:\Drivers\x86
c:\Drivers\x64
(1) copy the ISO files from the DVD to install Windows 7 in a directory - c:\temp\dvd_files
(2) mount the boot.wim file
-dism/mount-WIM /wimfile:c:\temp\dvd_files\sources\boot.wim / index: 1 /mountdir:C:\temp\mount
DISM / image: C:\temp\mount / Add-Driver driver:c:\drivers\glb
DISM image:C:\temp\mount / Add-Driver driver:c:\drivers\x64 (or x 86 if the picture is for a 32-bit install
DISM /mountdir:c:\temp\mount unmount unmount
(3) mount the install.wim file
-you know what image to update because the install.wim file contains all the images (except Enterprise). If installing 64-bit Home Premium - that would be index 2
-dism/mount-WIM /wimfile:c:\temp\dvd_files\sources\install.wim / index: 2 /mountdir:C:\temp\mount
DISM / image: C:\temp\mount / Add-Driver driver:c:\drivers\glb
DISM image:C:\temp\mount / Add-Driver driver:c:\drivers\x64 (or x 86 if the picture is for a 32-bit install
DISM /mountdir:c:\temp\mount unmount unmount
Copy your files to USB and everything should be good.
Bryan
I forgot something. The boot.wim file has two images. So after step 2, you must do exactly the same thing again but on index 2 like this:
mount the boot.wim file
-dism/mount-WIM /wimfile:c:\temp\dvd_files\sources\boot.wim / index: 2 /mountdir:C:\temp\mount
DISM / image: C:\temp\mount / Add-Driver driver:c:\drivers\glb
DISM image:C:\temp\mount / Add-Driver driver:c:\drivers\x64 (or x 86 if the picture is for a 32-bit install
DISM /mountdir:c:\temp\mount unmount unmount

Help me on installing windows 8 in my HP envy 6 ultrabook 1106tx
Hello
I bought my laptop HP envy 1106tx 6. I can't create my recovery my laptop cd. and unfortunately I have lost my windows 8. But I have my University original windows 8 English Pro (UK) with the original product provided by Microsoft DreamSpark Premium key. But when the installation starts windows Setup gives me an error of «product key is not...» Blah! Blah! Blah!. and it stops the installation. Guide kindly of me how I install my windows 8 pro provided University. Waiting for your quick response. Thank you.
Yours respectfully,
Waqar Ali
Pakpattan (Punjab) Pakistan
Thanks my problem has been solved.
1: not installation windows cease on product key. He said that the product key does not match try another. COS key is in the bios windows 8 detects the key of embeded bios of windows.
Solution: Create the file PID.txt and put my original key of windows int it by putting my windows product key like this 8
[PID]
Value = XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXXand copy the PID.txt file in the 'source' of installtion windows USB folder.
2: my hard drive not shown after having put the key file.
Solution: because there is no driver in windows installtion kit. I download the driver from hp site storage device and also copy these driver usb installation Kit. and search for the driver where it requires. and my two problems are solved.
Your comments: I propose to HP doesn't give us the option of recovery, there too many disadvantages as too take time up to 6 hours to retrieve also on core i7 PCs. many mistakes occoure during recovery. then I suggest to give their client to the installation CD windows only. that just take up to 20 minutes only to install and work like a charm pc. Thank you for your support. Can you long life and be happy forever.

Windows 7 drivers for HP Envy 15 j111tx
Hello
I have a HP Envy 15 J111tx - it comes with windows 8.1, but the USB3.0 ports were not reliable (external drives to disconnect or not be recognized) and also I don't really like the windows 8.1 interface, so I downgraded to windows 7 using the drivers on the HP support site.
USB3 works well under windows 7, but I'm missing 2 drivers in Device Manager. One is listed as BCM20702A0 (which I think is a bluetooth driver), the other is listed as "unknown device". The Intel Management Engine Interface also has a yellow exclamation beside her icon (in Device Manager).
I ran the HP support assistant - is to show the Intel Management Engine Interface "failure point".
Are there alternative drivers available for windows 7 for these issues.
Thank you
Hello:
You probably need this driver for the unknown device.
Try to manually install the driver IMEI by navigating to the driver folder, because the automatic installation does not work.
Try this bluetooth driver.
