Windows 8 app names (Plaid) are not in my language

Hello

I had this problem where all my built-in apps (weather, news, people, etc.) were in English. Following the advice that I found here, I changed my primary language in French and it worked partially: the contents of built-in apps are now in French, however, their names are still in English. The result is that my splash screen displays a tile "Weather" instead of the expected "weather", and search for the same application is not the weather app if I search for "Weather" The Windows store, however, shows the French names for my installed applications.
How can I get app names as in my language on the screen and start looking for the app?
Thank you.

    What is the brand and model number. the phone?

    The question may arise for various reasons, including a problem with the USB, all recent software update etc. So, I would suggest trying the following steps and check if the problem still persists.

    Method 1:

    Please, try the steps in the following Knowledge Base article.

  • The access permissions to the NTFS file in "C:\windows" and "C:\Program files" are not secure

    Hey there
    Had a minor shock after I discovered that the access permissions default to the "limited users" in "C:\Windows\" and "C:\Program files\" are raised by the image automatically XP - Pro installed on my Tecra A6.

    Default access permissions to the NTFS file in "C:\windows" and "C:\Program files" for "A limited number of users" should not have permissions "File/writing data Creation" or "Creation of folders/adding data. This opens up for what is called dll redirection attacks (ref: http://blogs.msdn.com/aaron_margosis/)

    When you install a Win XP a normal retail or OEM Windows XP cd these two folders are special protected by this measure (not allowing the permissions listed for limited users). Installation procedure of your image work it around (in established Microsoft) measure and open breaches in security.

    Now I have to drop all these permissions and hope that all of the utilities of your work for limited users after that that, otherwise you get a very unhappy customer on your hands. ;)

    Hi Henrik

    Thanks for the information. I have a common user of Toshiba and I have never heard of such attacks to redirect m .dll.
    However, I think that if each user install antivirus software (nothing unusual at the time; everyone should use) and activate the Microsoft Windows updates and OS firewall should be safe.

    Greetings :D

    If make sure you that the files are not used by some programs or windows, then, the answer is YES.
    Easier would be, just look for duplicates in the folders where the files are not required by Windows or programs.

  • Contact NAME changes are not kept on 4.5 and 4.6, I see a bug?

    I was wondering if this is a known bug in 4.5 and 4.6. This example works on a 4.2.1 Simulator and the device, but does not work for all of the 4.5 and 4.6 Simulator and device I tried. When the altered contact is retrieved again, the name always has the original value. Is there any work around better delete and re-create the Contact?

    BlackBerryContactList contactList = (BlackBerryContactList)PIM.getInstance().openPIMList(PIM.CONTACT_LIST, PIM.READ_WRITE);

    Contact contact = (Contact)contactList.createContact();String[] name = new String[contactList.stringArraySize(Contact.NAME)];name[Contact.NAME_GIVEN] = "Homer";name[Contact.NAME_FAMILY] = "Flintstone";contact.addStringArray(Contact.NAME, Contact.ATTR_NONE, name);contact.commit();

    contact = (Contact)contactList.itemsByName("Homer").nextElement();name = contact.getStringArray(Contact.NAME, 0);name[Contact.NAME_FAMILY] = "Simpson";contact.setStringArray(Contact.NAME, 0, Contact.ATTR_NONE, name); // This does not stickcontact.commit();

    contact = (Contact)contactList.itemsByName("Homer").nextElement();name = contact.getStringArray(Contact.NAME, 0);System.err.println(name[Contact.NAME_GIVEN] + " " + name[Contact.NAME_FAMILY]);

    I was able to reproduce it and reported to our development team.  The work around be like you suggested, which is to remove and recreate the contact.

  • music files in .aiff format with encoded path names, but are not displayed in Windows Media Player or iTunes.

    I have several CDs with music files engraved on them, but when I play one any of them in WMP or iTunes, music plays, but each track does not have a name.  They appear as the track track 01, 02, etc.. The music files are in .aiff format. Now, here's the clincher, the same CD will play in my car stereo and display the name of the track.

    Are you sure that they are in the format .aiff? It looks more like an actual audio CD for me (in this case, the music files will have a .cda extension when displayed in Windows Explorer).

    If it's an audio CD, then it probably has info CD-text engraved on it. You can install the plugin WMPCDText allowing WMP read this info. Unfortunately, there doesn't exist a plugin similar to iTunes.

  • Windows Media Player shared videos are not displayed

    Windows Media Player sharing videos?

    I started recently by using windows media player media sharing features and I wanted to share 2 seasons of a TV show from my office to my lap top, I added in, but after 20 minutes they still did not show again. They just take a while to appear here? And if so how long about?

    PS I know that videos can be shared as I already have a video shared between computers.

    Hi Nahtzee,

    You can add videos again and check or on the destination computer, close Windows Media Player and check.

    Step 1: You can check if the types of files to your videos (seasons) are supported by Windows Media Player. See the article below:

    Information on the types of media files that supports Windows Media Player

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/316992

  • Windows 7 Service Pack 1 are not

    I have a HP p6680t PC running WIndows 7 Home Preimum 64 bit. Until now Windows 7 Service Pack 1 in windows unlisted in update for me to download.  In this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2498452 , he mentions an Intel Graphics Driver (64-bit), versions 8.15.10.2104 to 8.15.10.2141 Igdkmd64.sys as being a problem when you try to download updated KB2454826.  Check my system, I think my version IS one of those that they stop talking.  The mine is the 8.15.10.2119 version BUT as I said KB2454826 IS in fact installed on my laundry, but also the alsomentioned KB976902 in the article.

    I checked the HP website for my model and it does not appear the driver has been updated, it only shows the original version I have.  On the Intel site that I ran the tool to detect the graphics drivers I had installed and he says that it was made by HP and to communicate with them.  I do not know if this driver is the casue since I have already installed KB2454826.  Can anyone shed some light on this.

    Just a quick update that I could finally try the fix listed in sevenforums, step by step instructions are on the post #33

    It worked great and I now have the ability to download SP1, although I hang on a bit for now.

  • Icons of Windows 7 move, pinned programs are not pinned

    About 2 weeks ago I started noticing that one of my icons in the top right of my screen began to move out of place on the next line. It was strange, but intermittent and relatively easy to put back in place. I don't think really much. Since then, the problem has worsened exponentially.

    I have my icons arranged in three columns on my desk to sort between the programs and files for my company, photos and programs on a daily basis, and then the handful of games I have on this machine. Now, every time I start windows, or shut down a program, icons are scattered (literally scattered) around the screen. They all seem to go to the same place every time, but it's not as if it is locked to grid or something like that: they have all moved to weird stains on the screen with random amounts of space between them.

    I unchecked and disabled all the theme or the definition who that would alter. I saved my layout a dozen times, but Windows will not be reset only when I restore it, rather to paste everything in the upper left, very similar to Windows 2000 used (which makes me wonder if the feature 'save default layout' still works). I did a post here that led me to two parts of 3rd party software, nor around who did not something beyond trying to install bloatware on my system.

    Today, the real kicker appeared that all my pinned programs have been released. Now, when I have something to pin to the taskbar (or), he went after a reboot. I scanned with the tool of Microsoft Malware, Malwarebytes, SuperAnti-Spyware and Avast, which none can find nothing.

    This would coincide with an update of windows, and I hear people talking about this as a problem intermittent, but not as severe as mine. I'd appreciate any help on this one. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Maklarr,

    Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    I can understand the inconvenience you encounter and would certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem. However, I would like you to answer the following questions in order to limit the question and provide you with better assistance.

    1. You did it of any significant changes to the system before this problem?
    2. Did you put your desktop in order to 'Icons snap to grid' before this problem?

    To diagnose the problem, I suggest you to set the icons to arrange in a grid and check if the number is reproduced. If the problem persists, check for any service of third-party software that might be the cause of the problem. See the following to:

    Method 1:

    (a) right click in the empty space on the desktop.

    (b) select display.

    (c) click on the icons to align it on the grid.

    (d) restart the system and check with the question.

    If the problem persists, clean booting the system as shown below.

    Method 2:

    Put your system to the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.
    How to perform a clean boot in Windows

    Note: See "how to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to prepare the computer to start as usual after a repair.
