Play TV DLNA

Hello

I have a Samsung 46C8700 led tv being dlna capable. I use Windows 8 Pro and I can easily broadcast video from the Explorer file to my Samsung TV using "Play To" File Explorer or media player. It's really amazing because it instantly plays the video on my tv. It's just a little pop up on my TV that wants to allow playback. It's really amazing, because you need a decoder or xbox.

Unfortunately, I am not able to use "Play To" the modern user interface. In the settings window of the modern user interface, my TV is listed under devices, but labled ist 'not certified Windows'. Video app or photo app I can't play on my Samsung tv. The TV is just simply not in charms bar. But more unfortunately is the fact that I can't stream UI modern Internet Explorer on my TV Samsung. I looked forward to YouTube videos from Internet Explorer on my Samsung tv, but unfortunately, it is not possible.

Now, the question remains: why is it not possible? Because I can use "Play To" of the Explorer files or media player in videos to my Samsung TV desktop mode, I see no technical obstacles why it is not possbile for the modern UI (especially ie).

Is it possible to cheat Windows 8 with certified Windows TV? Maybe a registry hack? I really hope this will be fixed, because it's such a very impressive feature, because you do not rely on specific hardware/software provider when using dlna.

Hi Barb and all on the thread. Let me add some clarification about this because there seems to be an (understandable) confusion.

Since Windows 7, Windows has a long history of support UPnP/DLNA and Windows 8 is no exception. In fact, we went even further in Windows 8 than what we offer in 7 to support based entirely on UPnP/DLNA standards within the home. The Play To function, in the jargon of DLNA, is a digital controller of media (DMC) and a play at the post office, in the jargon of DLNA, is a digital media converter (DMR). I'll save it for another day, but Windows 7 and 8 also fully support Digital Media Player (DMP) and Digital Media Server (DMS); all are standards-based.

For Windows 7, we have been certifying play for (DMR) devices for Windows. This certification program is not inventing new standards or use Microsoft's proprietary technologies. Here's what makes our certification program:

1. DLNA guidelines have a bunch of optional requirements. It is an example of a device support the volume control. Are those things that are optional in the guidelines affect the UI in new apps Store and the Windows user interface (such as allowing a user the ability to control the volume on the unit using the slider volume app, or search in a video, or update the State of keys (play, pause, etc.) in the application user interface when a user is using the TV remote control). We believe that this kind of thing is important, so the Windows certification requires some specific requirements which is optional in DLNA.

2 guidelines DLNA have mandatory requirements which themselves don't test. I won't get into the details here, but the lack of a test for the mandatory guidelines means that some devices don't implement things badly, or not their at all, causing odd behavior that are difficult to work around. Without doubt, this isn't the goal (device manufacturers always solve the problems when we bring to their attention). Because the user experience can stop because of this, we believe that it is important and Windows certification tests in fact some specific requirements which are also mandatory in DLNA.

3. developing #1, DLNA makes optional certain multimedia formats that are popular today and users expect. The main example is respectively MP4 video (M4V) and audio (M4A), or more specifically H.264 (AVC) and AAFC. Windows 8 has a strong focus on HTML5 for sites and applications, which depends on the MP4 Player. If DMR support not MP4, we would not be able to keep the promise of workflow based on HTML5 audio and video from apps and sites to your TV or speakers. You might think transcoding MPEG-2 is the answer, but Surface and other tablets Windows RT is not hardware MPEG-2 encoder in them (and even if you decide to do in the software, the experience would be terrible and drain your battery).

4. read latency. To be competitive and deliver a great user experience, we believe that a TV should start playing a video within 6 seconds and audio within 3 seconds when it is connected through Ethernet cable. I'd be surprised if someone thought it was controversial.

That's all. UPnP/DLNA is the technology of our Foundation. Remember though, DLNA means many things. A TV which only implements a Player multimedia (DMP) and a TV that implements a converter of media (DMR) both have the same DLNA logo, but only one of them is even able to work with Play To (DMR).

While new applications of the store will not work with devices not certified for reliability, performance and other reasons, all your devices continue to work even as they did in Windows 7. From Windows Explorer or Windows Media Player, these certified and non-certified devices will be displayed in the context menu. We have added a button to the Ribbon to make it more friendly on touch screens. Try it on the Surface or other Windows RT devices for example.

For amateur users or medical device manufacturers who want to test your device that is not yet certified, you can put your PC in Windows 8 (it does not work with Windows RT devices) in test mode. DANGER - this allows unsigned drivers to be installed. It's called the TEST MODE for some reason. Caveat applied, to put your machine into test mode, starting from an administrative command prompt: bcdedit-set testsigning on. After a reboot, if your device is truly a DLNA-DMR, it will be shown in the charm of devices. You will see that "not certified Windows" appear in uncertified devices. Contact your device manufacturer if they may not certify their devices. As I show above, it's standards; nothing that we have heard from any manufacturer to controversy.

I hope this helps.

  • Windows Media Player 12 play the DLNA problem

Hi, I have a laptop Samsung to dual boot with windows 7 Home premium running on both drives. I bought a DLNA receiver which I connected to my stereo. My idea was to be able to listen to my music collection from the laptop using media player 12.

On a single disc is an old installation of windows 7 with lots of software, the other contains a new installation of windows 7 with office and antivirus. Media Player can connect to the receiver using the two versions however that on the new installation of windows is the music actually broadcast using the game to function.

I compared the two to find all the differences in services, media, the Platinum settings, sharing options and uninstalled software / deleted (including the media player) that could have conflicted. I rebuilt the media player library and reconnected the device and the network.

Any help to fix this would be appreciated!

  • SMP-N100 will not play VAC/.m4a files from DLNA server but will play them to USB storage device.

When I try to access my iTunes music files located on my Windows 7 laptop, my Sony SMP-N100 sees files, but the labels 'LCMP', even if these are CCA/.m4a files. When I try to play these music files, Media Player tries to do and eventually times out the claim that the file is corrupt or the wrong format.

When I copy the music files (and keep the same directory/folder structure) on a key USB a plug in the front USB port on the SMP-N100, Media Player sees thin files and labels like "ACC" and plays perfectly.

By tables of supported media, published by Sony, VAC/.m4a files are supported USB and DLNA, and yet they do not seem to work on DLNA.

    Hello tpcannon.

AAC files are not compatible for broadcast in the drive via DLNA.

You can download the manual from the following link:

See page # 26 and 27 of the manual to confirm the same information.

  • SMP-N100 expanded DLNA video format offering?

Looking at other posts, I would assume that SONY will not provide response or update of this post but here goes.

Sony has any intention to expand the types of video formats, the SMP-N100 can play via DLNA? Not very well why the offering by the USB bus is more robust than on the DLNA. I know that the technology is there to support a complementary offer. I have a library of movies .mp4 on a NAS that can not be read. The only solution is to have my Windows Vista box as a DLNA media server certificate by using a third-party transcoder software to convert MPEG2 files to play. Would be nice if the SMP-N100 could be pushed to an update of the firmware that would play as .mp4 files in their native format. It would be great.

I think, however, is that you have all opt to produce a new multimedia player that has the ability to expand and force consumers to buy this product vs pushing an upgrade. Oh that's just the pessimistic side of out me. Wonder if Sony is going to prove me wrong.

    Hello MatthewB,

Sony wants to add this feature (MP4 via DLNA) for the SMP-N100, too? As they did for the SMP-N200 or will I haver to buy the SMP-N200 to get this new piece of software?

Thanks in advance for your reply and happy new year from the Germany!

    Kind regards

  • "Play-to' peripheral network keeps repeating same song

When I move a group of songs to the play area on the right panel and select the menu item ' in play', my DLNA compatible AV controller is displayed. When I select it, a new window opens, and the first song on the list begins to play on the audio/video devices. Fine.

The problem is that the song just keeps repeating. It doesn't matter if the 'repeat' control is enabled or disabled. I can click on any song in the list and he plays with happiness this song - again and again and more :-(

If I select a playlist saved from the DLNA client, he plays very well and is not repeated. Unfortunately, I want to control the WMP device, not in the Panel of the DLNA client.

    Help appreciated.

One of the reasons that the aircraft not certified for Windows are blocked is to

  • Poor video quality using windows 7 "play to" with DLNA Sony Bravia KDL-40EX700

When I use the option "play to" in windows media player 12, everything works but the video streams on tv is of very poor quality!

Most of the time the video is not yet play full screen. When I first set all and used television to find the video file, it played in the perfect resolution and quality, but now it does not matter if I have the video on the TV or choose play... two ways I get bad video quality.

Are there settings for the streaming video quality in windows 7? I have the current firmware for tv update and tried on two different computers with the same bad results.

What can I do to fix this?

    Mr. Goetz,

There is nothing wrong with the drivers of your graphics card. The TV is one that makes the video file not the graphics card on your PC. The reason you have a bad video quality is the limited support of the multimedia formats that is supported by your TV. Generally, Sony's Bravia TVs have a limited set of media formats supported and for this reason, most of the time that the Play and Win7 will send transcoded versions of the video on television. Usually, the way Play works is the following:

-Play questions the TV for supported media formats

-If the TV supports the type of media you're trying to make, the Play sends native data flow to the TV. The quality will be provided by your video file.

-If the TV does not support the native format, the Win7 also offers versions of the same video file transcoded: MPEG-2 and WMV for versions.

-Play preffers to make reading possible at any time so he will choose a transcoded version if the native format is not supported. DLNA mandates support for MPEG NTSC or PAL MPEG formats, so this will be the common denominator.

I tested several Sony's Bravia televisions in the last years of the development of Play, and several times reading transcoded. I guess that this is the case for you as well. Unfortunately, nothing you can do, unless Sony decides to support your media file nativelly. To make things worse, the qulity of the transcoded version depends very much on the quality of native files (win7 transcode in a lower resolution than the native.) It will be not high-end). If the native file is HD content, the resolution of transcoded stream will be pretty good for a TV 40 ". If the stream resolution is SD or smaller than (usually flows that can be downloaded on BitTorrent), resolution transcoded will be less than that. On a big TV screen, it will be stretched and the quality will be very poor. More the native file resolution and the resolution of the TV, the bad will be your experience.

Therefore, could you please tell me what is your multimedia file type?

    Hope this helps

    Thank you very much

  • OTP-S790 does not play. Server DLNA MKV files

    Hi all

I have a Western Digital MyBookLive NAS drive and I copied all my. MKV and. MPG files. I can play. MPG files using the PS3 and BDP-S790, but not able to play. MKV files. Is this common? In the forums, I have seen that two of them should be able to play. MKV files on Server DLNA network. One has faced this problem?

    Thank you

    Hello

In fact, I solved my problem with the Synology NAS and the fact that it worked with the WIFI connection and not with the ethernet connection.

To use the S790 as a streamer with a Synology NAS media, it is necessary to do the following on the Synology DSM software:

-Open the multimedia server on the DSM (via the drop-down list at the top left).
-Select DMA compatibility, then list of devices from this tab.

    -Declare S790 as a default

The problem is that the S790 has two different addresses, one when it is used with a wifi connection and another when it is used with the ethernet connection! So the solution is to do the above for both mac addresses.

Everything works as it should, and I can stream the NAS .mkv files.

  • using speakers Polk Omni DLNA with Mac Book Pro

I bought Polk Omni S2 Wireless speakers.  Polk offers only iTunes app on iPhone.  It is not Apple's music and will play only the music downloaded from the cloud, which takes too much memory on my phone.  Polk offers a link to a software that supports playback of music from a Windows PC:

(Download the application of PC gaming - Fi DTS) but this is not supported under OSX.  For OSX, Polk suggested "OSX support DLNA devices, third party software (e.g. Twonky, Plex or Servio) must be downloaded to make them visible on the network. Once downloaded, all of the content stored locally on OSX devices will show up in the application of Omni Polk under 'media server '.

Try the Flex application. Many users, including OSX, use Plex as a media server.

  • 3.1 AT100 not seen by Win7 as a network device, dlna fail

My AT100 with v3.1 can use the Toshiba Media Player integrated to transmit certain types of video from my PC Win7 Home Edition, but the PC can't see the AT100 as a WiFi-connected device. As the AT100 is certified compatible DLNA (I know that "compliant" does not necessarily mean "fully compliant with all aspects") I expect to see the AT100 in view of features of Win7 as my Media Player for WDTVLive appears.

I use a TV tuner card in the PC to record free to air programs for changing object that registers Win7 as .wtv file types. The AT100 nor the WDTVLive could play this type of file when pulling the stream from the PC. However, I can push the .wtv files using the WDTVLive watching "Play To" feature. I can't ' play to ' the AT100 because Win7 does not recognize the AT100 as a device connected.

OMP Win7 there is a window that shows all the devices on the network and allows streaming of the permissions to be set individually for each device. I can find the AT100 in this list as an unidentified device by matching the MAC address reported.

I plugged the AT100 by USB and charge Win7 a driver, it gave me the ability new use of WiFi on the AT100 to control the streaming of files from the PC to the WDTVLive. The PC, however continues to refuse to recognize the AT100 its device management windows.

Whoever did this with different results?

    Hello

Can't say anything about the DLNA but AFAIK the Toshiba Media Player preinstalled on A100 supports different mod and one of the mods called DMP (digital media player).
Choice of this mode allows to connect to the PC or laptop with preinstalled Windows Media Player 12. But this only works under Win 7! This will allow to distribute video files.

  • 32tl838g video DLNA TV file not supported

    Hello

I bought a new TV, 32TL838G 3D LED, but I'm not happy with it.

It says it takes support DLNA, but for some reason I can't watch any video with DLNA. I have DivX enabled, but it did not much help...

And I tried a lot of different videos (with different codecs) but I can't play any of them...

The strange part is that I can play all these videos if I put them in a USB Pen drive...
And the problem is not in my DLNA server, as with other DLNA devices I am able to reproduce these videos, so this is a problem with this TV.

I hope that someone here could explain to me why this happens and how to fix this, or at least that a new firmware will fix this (as if with USB videos are playable, so this is not material but more likely a software problem)

It is quite unacceptable, when a feature is announced, that it WILL work properly.

    Hello

    > I can't watch any video with DLNA
    Does that mean exactly?

I n t have this TV, but I want to know if you have had a few CD with (DLNA server) software that you install on your PC.
Your TV has access to all the movies stored on your PC?
What type of connection between the TV and your PC do you use?

Usually, everything should be explained in the paper manuals user s. have you checked?

    Hello

    The user s manuals - http://www.toshiba-om.net/LCD/PDF/English/VL748-4046-English.pdf

If you check the user on page 52 s manuals, you will find a list of all formats that are supported for playback DLNA.
I can see mp4 is in the list, but there are also notes that some files can not be played.
    Does that mean exactly?
Due to huge encoding on the format options, which exist on the market, TOSHIBA cannot guarantee, that each file in the list, type will work in practice.

What you can try is to transfer your files in another supported format listed in the manuals and test the functionality again.

Firmware update won't help much. Decoders used in TVs are shipped and limit its specifications. Still is it that these decoder chipsets cannot be upgraded later.

Please try to change the file format and test it again. Would be nice if you can send comments.

  • Toshiba 32L 4363: missing DLNA + video auto-start

    Hello

I have some problems with my new Toshiba 32L 4363.
As I have read on the homepage L 32, 4363 should support DLNA, but I can't find the function.
    Where can I find it?

There are a few pages where I see a lot of applications to play videos, pages like YouTube.
The problem is that some of these apps are starting to play even if I hadn't started the app apps start automatically. How can I disable this?

Videos from a USB USB also begins to play when I chose the videos in a small windows on the right side, but did not press on enter on the remote control.
I don't like this feature. How can I disable it?

In the manual (also the web - the toshiba manual - om .net) I couldn't find anything about it.

    mellimelli

According to the specifications of the TV, the device is DLNA certified.
This means that you can share movies, videos, music and photos on your TV Toshiba or with DLNA using a DLNA certified media server on your network home.

I recommend checking the manual start of the user to page 45

The TV can be configured as a digital media renderer (DMR).
When using as a media converter, the TV displays content provided by a multimedia server.
The media selection is made by the media controller.
The TV can play photo, movie, or audio files when using as a Media Converter.
In the network menu, select Network Device Setup and press OK.
Select Media Renderer and press b to select on.
If demand media controller, prompt and the function of Media Converter will start.

According to the USB Autostart support: what is mentioned on page 61
When Auto-start is enabled, you will be asked if you want to start the media player each time that a
Peripheral USB is inserted. If autostart is disabled (or if you want to connect to a media server on the network), you must manually start the Media Player menu.

To change the auto-start setting: highlight the Options icon and then select Configuration of Media Player
and press OK. Select USB Auto Start, and then press OK. You can then select enabled or disabled.

    Start_ sent
Insert a USB device into the USB port on the left side of the TV. A prompt is displayed. Select Yes, then press OK. Videos, music or Photos and click OK. Then select devices and press OK.

    * NOTE: * If autostart is set to Off, you can manually start the media player.
