Original title: Add/Remove components error and DVD driver error

Yesterday, I removed several components of windows to attempt to clean my cpu. After the reboot, I noticed that my DVD drive disappeared. I tried to update the driver but told me I have the most updated version, I uninstalled and reinstalled the drive, but I still get the same error. Under Driver Details, it shows that I have a lot of drivers for my Phillips DVD player. However, the status of the device is the following: Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device. I've done the troubleshooting, and the two options has not fixed the problem.

Then I tried to add windows components that I removed, thinking maybe that was the problem. However, when I try to add them, I get an error message that says: 'Setup cannot copy the file zClientm.ex_' it shows the location of this file as being in windows/i386, and of course, the file is located in this folder. So when I go to browse to locate the file, I find and click on it to open it, but I keep getting the same error message that the file is not found and Setup cannot continue.

I realize that this problem seems very rare and weird, but any help at all would be appreciated. Thank you.

  • Machine virtual Windows 2000, ftdisk errors and BSOD (twice a month)

    Hello

We have a Windows 2000 SP4 installed to server with all possible updates of Microsoft Windows updates.  It's in our vSphere 4.1 environment which consists of 3 4.1 ESX hosts connected to an EMC SAN with NFS data warehouses.  Every once in a while ago and only this particular virtual machine will go belly up.  Basically, end-users will start to meet execution errors in their application.  Thus, we check the VM and notice a lot of pop-up windows and errors in the system for ftdisk event log (Event ID 50 {Lost Delayed-write-data}).  It gets to a point where you can not do anything in the server, then you will have to hard it turned off.

After reboot, it will display the Windows 2000 splash screen and then a BSOD will appear with INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE.  Whatever the choice of Safe mode, safemode w / Networking, last known good, etc...  Also try to attach ISO or a physical CD often freezes the vSphere client so hard to my intel core i7 PC for ever the same displays a CTRLALTDEL Task Manager.

So the solution is to mount a this machine VMDK file to another virtual machine, then run a chkdsk on it, then remove.  To power up the virtual machine Windows 2000, he finally fill the trunk and automatically run a chkdsk on other partitions and difficulty many files, indexes, security descriptors, etc.  The server is online and the hosted application works very well.

Audit in the newspapers, it seems that it has happened with this frequency (looking ftdisk warnings)

    02/11/2010 to 03/11/2010

    05/10/2010 to 06/10/2010

    29/09/2010 to 01/10/2010

    23/09/2010

So it's a little sporadic.  The server gets used exactly the same every week, is not as if he was not less any activity between the 10/6 and 11/2, where it doesn't have the bomb on at all.

Any idea on what is happening here?  If it were a real physical server, it would be all point to a failure of hard drive or scsi controller.  However, it is on an ESX host, as well as many other machines to talk to the same San, and nothing else has a problem.  It comes to our Windows 2000 Server only in our environment, everything else is 2003 or 2008.  The config for this VM problem is:

    1024 MB

    1 PROCESSOR

    4 MB OF VRAM

    VMCI limited

Controller of BusLogic SCSI parallel 0

30 GB thin provisioned SCSI (0:0) hard drive 1

    "Flexible" network adapter

Nothing special or notable outside of a default virtual machine configuration.

Thanks for your comments.  This one is perplexing.  Is not as we can 'swap hard disk.  Were in discussions with the vendor of the application for a migration to Server 2008, but I don't know when that will be possible (if this year or the first quarter of next year).

If you change names like this - ethernet also remove NIC ghost?

It is likely that your changes produces one or more of them - please check.

I cleaned some entries in your existing file and transferred.

  • None of my games will start in Windows 7, drive spins and then nothing

I did a clean install of Windows 7 and tried to play some of my games, both downloaded and those I have records for, but nothing starts.
    I'm running a P4 3gig emachine with 2gig RAM.

The game installed fine, but when I throw the disk spins then stops and nothing else happens.  I get some error massages and I tried to run in an earlier version and run as administrator. and still nothing.

I ran SFC scan and it came back without any problem, and I've also updated my drivers and still nothing... Please help before I die of boredom!

    Hello

Check if you are able to run these games when your PC is in a clean boot state.

    1. sign the computer by using an account with administrator rights.

    2. click on start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue

    3. on the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the check box load startup items.

    4. on the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.

Note: following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

Now that the computer is in clean boot state, try to play these games and see if you are able to. If the games play, you can follow the steps mentioned in the knowledge base article below to determine which startup item or service could be the cause of the issue.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    1. click on start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    2. on the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    3. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    Post back with the result.

    Kind regards

  • Windows 7 finds errors and recommend to run Chkdsk

I'm trying to find support on Windows 7 Beta, but the center of maintenance that comes with the beta version which brings me to the support site for Windows Vista. I commented and sent your comments, but was hoping to find a central forum for beta tests of Windows 7. I'll gladly re-post my question it if there is such a site.

My question (which also took place in Vista)

Windows 7 is to find errors with the file system and suggests that I have run chkdsk.exe. When I run chkdsk and the calendar to do a scan on the next reboot of the system, it does not scan, it just keeps loading in Windows 7. "chkdsk c: /F" then "shutdown - r-t 0".

Some sites offer boogered up to the Windows installation. In view of this, I ran ' SFC/scannow' to see what has been found. The journal reported the errors which could not be fixed and continued perusing newspapers showed some other issues such as "C:\Windows\System32\autochk.exe mismatched real file" which was found in what concerns the cause of problems with chkdsk.exe runs does not during the next reboot.

Any ideas, suggestions or words of wisdom?

n0manarmy, check out this forum: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/category/w7itpro/, more generally, on the technical side, but there should be enough traffic on it for everyone :)

With respect to the SFC, the following link will be able to help you to extract the information that you need to replace the corrupted files:

Some Windows Vista functions may not work, or Windows Vista may stop responding

How to analyze the entries in the log file generating the program Checker (SFC.exe) resources of Microsoft Windows in Windows Vista

Windows 7 is still in beta, so I'm sending this to you for educational reasons for most.

What about the chkdsk command, it is interesting that you're forcing the scan and then request a stop down.
What happens when you do a chkdsk /r and when asked to run this on the next reboot, type y, and then press ENTER.

It could be your order which is inaccurate here and not the program itself.

  • Need help with Windows Live Movie Maker and DVD Maker

I have worked with Windows Live Movie Maker to cut a continuous piece of video footage into separate clips (these are dance performances by dancers of different about 13)... then once they were divided into 13 clips separated, I then cut them at the beginning and at the end of each clip (performance) and then used legends at the beginning of each clip with name of the dancer.  I also added a title at the beginning of the film page, and I added at the end of the credits.  Then I clicked on save the movie and had to wait an hour or more... Finally, when this was done, I opened Windows DVD Maker and clicked on add items... went to my file and put my film recorded in the creation of DVD.  I used also changed the Menu template to that for shows (it is red and black and has lights and cameras as a staging.  I thought everything was going along fine until I played the disc engraved on my Smart TV DVD player.  For some reason when I click on the stages (or chapters) to see the performance under this button, it starts to play the dvd in a few seconds or a few minutes in some cases in the performance... I've lost countless blank DVDs not to mention hours and hours of time... and I'm so frustrated... I'm ready to SCREEEAAMMM!  Also some of the performances were not even under one of the buttons or frames... in other words you could not use the arrow keys to locate some of them to click it and find out.  Yet, when I went back and pressed the 'Play' button, I could fast forward through the entire movie and find performances that seem to be missing the scenes/buttons.  Any help or advice before I blow a bridge! ???

    Thank you.

    ===============================================
First of all a question... did you you save the project in a video such as format
. WMV or. MP4? Or have you just of WLMP project folder?

I suspect that DVD Maker is to see your movie in one file
and he has no idea where are your scenes. More than likely it is
creation of scenes on his own in arbitrary places.

In order for DVD Maker correctly, identify individual scenes
each stage must be registered as an individual video clip, then
the collection of video clips can be imported and each of them must
become an individual scene.  DVD Maker is supposed to accept
    up to 18 scenes.

Just an experience you can import your new original
video clips in DVD Maker and see if it works properly. If
It does what you want... change and re-record your clips one video
    both will be the fix.

    Good luck...
