Windows 8 Jump List

I want to open my recent documents in word and excel (both are 2010).  However, when I go to the jump list in windows 8, all the choices are grayed out.  How can I change this so I can specify how many recent documents I want to allow?

Try this:

1. right click on the taskbar and select Properties

2. Select the jump lists

3. you can specify the number of items you want to appear in the jump list. To enable the recently-opened items, make sure that both boxes in the window are checked.

See you soon!

I can not disable on Windows 7 jump lists. I unchecked the box properties of the system, but the jumplists show always upward. How can I disable the jumplist?

You say jump lists do not display files recently opened by a particular program, but the jump list itself cannot be disabled.  These lists were built by the creator of program that allow you of "jump right in" a task such as right-clicking on the mail program allows you to instantly create a new email without having to open the program first of all of the tasks.

  • Replace the previous Question on Windows 7 jump lists

Previous question incorrectly referred to as Windows 7 Jump Lists rather than the Start menu lists.  I tried to delete it, but could not... Please disregard.  It is corrected below:

With the Windows 7 Start Menu, number of items in the list of the default Start Menu is set to 10.  There are currently 10 applications in this list.  When I opened an application 11, different from those in the list on the Start Menu, I expected to be added to the list with the oldest list entry being deleted (by example, most recent, most former fate).  This was not the case.  When I click an app (PPT 2007) from the desktop, regardless of how many times I opened it, it was not added to the list of the Start Menu.  Only after you open in the all programs list it has been added to this list.  In addition, no matter how many times I opened Windows Explorer, whether by the bar of tasks or in the list of all programs, it is not added to the list of the Start Menu.

The Microsoft online help States the following on the list from the Start Menu:

"You will notice that, over time, the lists of the programs in your Start menu change. This happens for two reasons. First of all, when you install new programs, they have added to the list of all programs. Second, the start menu detects the programs you use the most and places them in the left pane for quick access. »

First of all, what is adding programs to the list of all programs has to do with the list of the Start Menu?  If I install a new application, is automatically added to the start menu?  Second, what are the programs will be added to the list of the Start Menu?  You have to open 'x' repeatedly to be added to the list?  Are there exceptions to what is added to the list and if so, what are those exceptions?

If someone can explain the details of how the list of the Start Menu is supposed to behave, I would be very grateful.  At the moment it seems inconsistent.  All of the default settings in the Start Menu properties that affect the lists are active (for example; ("Store and display recently opened programs in the menu start" and "Store and display recently opened items in the start menu and taskbar" is selected both).

    Thanks much for any help.

  • Windows 7 Jump Lists does not

I've been using Windows 7 for a while now without a problem. I pinned Word, Excel and other programs from my taskbar. I was able to pin documents to these programs as well. When I right click it appears the most recent and pinned. Yesterday, Excel has decided that he would not do that more. I can't do anything in the program PIN to the taskbar and it shows no history. My word program works very well and other programs that I've pinned to the taskbar. How can I fix it? It is quite annoying because it takes a few minutes to open Excel files from 'my computer '.
    Thanks for any help.

This does not solve the problem.  All other icons display recent documents when I right click on the taskbar icon...

    Hello

There are several known issues with Excel 2007 and the item in the list of shortcuts. No miracle were still out.

You can pin items to the list of shortcuts Excel by dragging the file and by the applicant on the Excel taskbar icon.

    I hope this helps.

Thank you for using Windows 7

  • Jump list problems: unpin / disassembly do not work in double entries, appear entered PIN change

I run Windows 7 Ultimate (new installation) of an SSD. Most of the document files are stored on a network drive.

At the beginning I was very excited about the new jump lists, but after a few days I started to notice problems:

    • duplicate of some files on my player entries network appears in the section of "Many" of the Windows Explorer jump list
    • This is the case only for items on the network drive
    • only some of the duplicates can be removed, others persist
    • pinning of items from the network drive to the Explorer jump list Windows seems not to accept only one item; elements subsequently added simply to replace one who was pinned in front of them
    • pinning items from the main system drive is functioning normally (the item will be added without moving the previous items)
    • After pinning on a specific folder on the network drive in the Windows Explorer jump list, he spontaneously changed in another folder (a subfolder of the first that I recently created and worked with). This repeated behavior after that I have this marking the file and I tried to re - locate the right pair

The problems seem to be centered on the use of the network drive. My home network is built around a router that distributes dynamic IP addresses, the network drive may not always use the same IP address. Also, I keep the 24/7 network drive, so both the computer has no access to it. No doubt this confuses Windows somehow, but I really think that it should not be a problem for a modern operating system.

  • Windows 7 Excel and Word 2010 jump lists appear only not on the Start Menu

    Hello

I would like to apologize if this is in the wrong section... I got here by looking at another thread, which ultimately does not solve my problem. I read the same solutions on dozens of different threads and not one has done something to help, so I thought I'd try to ask once again, indicating that I have tried and see if anyone has any other ideas!
... I also like to apologize if "jump list" is the wrong term. I mean, it is when I click on my Start Menu, and "Microsoft Word/Excel 2010" icon is the small arrow on the side right does not allow me to click everywhere for what files I recently consulted on Word. I have exactly the same problem in Excel 2010, but No problem at all for Powerpoint 2010 and it seems that programs such as Notepad and so forth are very well as well.
    What I did:
    1. right click on 'Taskbar', click 'Properties', select the "Start Menu" tab, under "Privacy", I checked the boxes ("Store and display recently opened programs in the start menu" and "Store and display recently opened items in the start menu and the taskbar").
Make a right-click on 'Taskbar'-> properties-> select Menu-> customize-> items recent fact make it appear a list but less it is tab and not attached to the application (which is what I want to xD).
My original problem was that the list of recent items for Word has not been updated and it was stuck on what he was about 3 months - which eventually prove needless after I lived my computer and deleted, renamed and moved a bunch of word documents! Unchecking the boxes got rid of the arrow completely, and when I checked hide them he refused to reappear for Word and Excel.
    2. I was at '% AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations' all files deleted from here and restarted my computer - ' 1b4dd67f29cb1962.automaticDestinations - ms' seem to be for the word, and I think that ' 3d961d1bb3da929c.automaticDestinations - ms' are to Excel. I have them I deleted, I moved it out of the folder, I renamed them, I sang for them, etc. etc. and every time it did not work.
This seems to be a really popular solution that works for most of the time everybody... it does not work for me!
I've also been to '% ' AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\CustomDestinations and deleted everything from there.
    3. I checked that related to open different file extensions in Excel and Word programs are associated with Excel and Word. Everything seems to be strong in that Department.
I use Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and fight with versions of Word and Excel 2010!
Then... I don't think anyone has any other ideas?
    Thank you in advance!

I emptied two recent used folders but did not work.   Then I fixed my office installation to add/remove programs in the control panel and that did the trick.  I have office 2007 and 2010 installed, but make sure that I only use 2010.  Will probably uninstall 2007.

  • How to add 'Frequent' "Jump List" section in FF 23.0.1?

Looking to add pages in the right click menu of the FF icon. I would like to be able to change what appears in the "Frequent" part in particular.

Several months ago there was a bug where Firefox 21 arrested in the jump list update. When I did the research at this time, I reached the following conclusions:

    (1) the section "Frequent" in the list of shortcuts matches high points listed by the 'Most visited' bookmark ('smart folder").

    (2) Firefox manages a binary data file in this folder (because it's a binary file, it can not easily be changed):

    %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\CustomDestinations

(My file is named 969252ce11249fdd.customDestinations - ms but yours may have a different name... not sure how these names are chosen)

Therefore, I am not optimistic about the control of the selection of items in the section Frequent of the Jump list.

You can add bookmarks to your list of Firefox shortcuts, but for names of control (by default, the URL is displayed), you must use a two step process:

    (1) bookmark drag on the desktop or another folder in Windows Explorer, rename as desired.

    (2) made drag drop on the pinned, then make Firefox icon right click to confirm that it has been added to the Favorites section.

After that, you can delete the shortcut on the desktop.

  • Pavilion 500-321: dark blue background and placement weird icon on jump list (MRU) of applications in the taskbar

Hi, I recently did a reset of the W8.1 and now I see a weird and very annoying blue backgound dark in the recent files list that appears when you right-click an application pinned to the taskbar. Also, the "PIN to the taskbar" and "close window" icons show little irrelevant and apparently higher than normal

I tried looking through all of the possible settings, but I can't find anything on this particular list. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

I found out what was causing the problem in this forum. Apparently Windows KB3072318 update caused the jump list to behave strangely. I uninstalled this patch and apparently he himself reinstalled after rebooting, but it's okay now.

When I select an action in a jump list, the System32 folder opens instead of the action that I choose. I use an Acer under Windows 7 Home Premium. Can I get help, please?

  • How to enable recent items on jump list

Not sure if it of a problem or not. I would like a list of recent items on my list of jump (in fact, only for MS Word) in the task bar. I only have pinned files, but would like to be able to place a file in the list of recent files and PIN which as well. My problem is that I do not see the recent files on any list to jump from a program in the task bar. I went into the properties of taskbar (start menu/customize) and tried to click on the number of recent files, but it is zero and is grayed out so I can't change it. What should I do? Or is it a problem that requires a repair?

I've seen a few discussions about this in this forum - I don't know if this is a problem, or if there is somewhere a seting I forgot to check.

Right-click on the Start button, and then select Properties. Click on Start menu tab and check the box in front of the store and display recently items in the start menu and the taskbar.

  • Window front jumping up and down (LabView 2010 SP 1)

I have a bug problem with dynamically opening and running a VI.

The VI below is compiled into a DLL:

With that, I opened a secondary VI to display the results. That VI is called multiple times in a loop. It works fine, but I was annoyed by the flashing of the menu bar and the toolbar. That's why I added the 'FP. ShowMenuBar' and 'to. Visible' to hide those. This causes the Panel window before jumping up and down on my screen. Is this a known bug (I presume it is) and is there a work around?

One other minor annoyance is that open the front panel, close it and then open it again cause the façade to be open in the background, and I have to manually move it to the foreground. I thought it might be remedied by adding "FP. IsFrontmost', but it does nothing.

OK, I did the VI reentrant and added the option "prepared for reentrant run" in the box "open VI Reference. This is the VI opened as a clone and stop the blinking of the menu and toolbar.

As a bonus, the CPU dropped load. (But I do not see why).

The façade positioning mind again, but did not understand.

  • How do I know which programs to take off the windows Installer CleanUp list?

    Windows Installer Cleanup of

    * original title - how do I know which programs to take off the windows Installer CleanUp list? I don't want to uninstall or remove a program that I always use currently__ *.

Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/290301 (MS Office only - replaced by the 'Fix It' utility)
(Note: the Windows CleanUp utility has been replaced by the "Fit It":http://support.microsoft.com/fixit/ )

    The Windows Installer Cleanup utility:
It was created to correct software installations that failed during the installation process and leaving a bunch of files (including a file name that ends with an extension .msi (= MicroSoft Installer .msi). For example an installation failed MS Office (note I said "failed").
    See: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA011185721033.aspx

Also if when you installed MS Office you decided at the time you had no need of Power Point and chose not to install it. You find out later you need to make a Power Point presentation, insert the Office CD and try installing PowerPoint and it causes an error.

The tool using Windows Installer Cleanup will remove damaged installation files (located in C:\Windows\Installer). You then install Office and Power Point, once more, as they are not more present in the list of programs in the Add/Remove Control Panel. But at least this time Office and Power Point will install without errors as the Windows Installer Cleanup utility did what it was designed to do.

The unfortunate side effect of the cleanup tool is when you select and delete software that works correctly you then will no longer be able to install this software because it is no longer in the Add/Remove Programs list.

Now as to why there is so many files in the C:\Windows\Installer:
You will find lots of them. MSI files belong to software such as Java, Microsoft .NET Framework software AV, Norton Ghost, file downloaded during a Windows Update session and so on. It would seem that some software will clean up after itself and deletions, this is the file that were in the folder C:\Windows\Installer. Windows Update failure will create and leave the folders and files behind every time that you try to install the update and so you could end up with a large number of files taking up disk space.

It could also be a lot of files (is most needed) orphans.
If you still have the original Windows Installer Cleanup utility, and then by using the msizap (msizap g!) command removes all cached Windows Installer data files that have been orphaned.
