Windows 8 locked out.

Started the Acer laptop but just missed seeing a notice on the first screen - login screen says app prevented the closing down and the computer is locked.

As I thought I had a virus I pressed the power button and the screen is blank but the laptop is not stopped. I checked the internet on my desk and found that it is a common problem with Win 8.

I've updated Windows Essentials the previous night.

I tried to insert a recovery USB flash drive - nothing happens.

Help!

That the message is probably not a virus - it is very common for a prevention program stops.  By example, if you have even just a Notepad file open and waiting for you to decide if you want to save it or not, it is likely to block the closure.

Depriving of electricity directly in now the power button is also very bad and can damage the system.  Use it only as an absolute last resort.

Regarding the current situation, can you let me know what happens now, when you try to turn on your computer?  Message/error/problem do you see?

  • Windows 7 locked out

Locked put off of one of my computers. You don't have to remember the password. My password hint is not helping? Anyone know of a solution?

To be honest with you, it's a friend's computer. He has no idea where is the DVD. Don't you think that there is a work around or maybe just reformat and start from scratch. There is no important data on the C; drive.

In Windows 7, there are several methods to resolve this problem:
    • Restart the computer with your Windows repair CD, then use system restore to set Windows in a few days (only works if you have recently changed the password).
    • Log on to your account admin to spare, and then reset the password for your existing account (works only if you set up an alternative admin account).
    • Log in as administrator mode without failure, then reset the password for your existing account (the password is usually empty).
    • Insert your flash drive USB with the password key file (only works if you have taken the time to create such a key file).
    • Use the password indicator (only works if an indicator was created and if it's good enough to allow you to guess the password)
    • Check your paper files (works only if you threw down the password somewhere)

  • Windows 7 has become my comments login and I'm locked out of admin

    Hello

I've been running W7 Pro 64 bit very happy for two months. When I installed, I made a user account for me with admin privileges (I'm the only user on this machine). All of a sudden yesterday I noticed that I could not do some things and on investigation found that W7 has become my admin account a guest one. Same account name, icon, the user files, but no right! I did nothing to cause it, as far as I know, it just happened. I don't think it's a virus, Kaspersky certainly is not report anything.

I tried to boot from the DVD and by defining the built in Administrator account, but that the command window told me that the command executed successfully, when I restart I see no administrator account. Because I'm the only user I had previously defined netplwiz to connect automatically and I can't disarm that - I just get a window saying 'entry password administrator to run netplwiz' but there is no password box, probably because that there is no administrator account on the system.

I seem to be completely locked out from changes to the admin of my system. First thing I will do when I get the machine working again, is to create an alternative admin account to use if it never happens again, but for now, I'm completely stuffed.

    Can someone help, please?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

UPDATE: I booted in safe mode with command prompt and run lusrmgr.msc to view accounts. Administrator account is here, just can't see on login screens. I thought that the administrator password should be blank (or perhaps the same one that I put in place with my initial admin-level account), so I tried shift-right-click netplwiz and selecting run as another user, and then typing in Administrator and white as well as a selection of passwords possible. No joy. It does not accept any combination of names of users and passwords.

So, how to use the administrator account?

    Aaaaaargh!

I have fixed my problem on Windows 7 guest user.  The problem is after I added the computer successfully in my area, I decided to change the name of the computer. So I changed the name and the past of the domain to the working group. After rebooting I connected under the no original domain account, I created, but it was no longer a member of the administrator group and has been labeled as guest user account type.  I had not enabled the administrator account.

The solution: press F8 at startup for Advanced Startup Options.  Select the option 'Safe Mode with command prompt'.  I was given the opportunity to log on as an administrator, and I did.

I entered my orders, first to change the admin password then command to activate the administrator account:

"password net user administrator"-password the password to use.  (Password must meet complexity requirements)

"net user administrator / Active: Yes.

Computer restarted and I is presented with the option to connect as administrator.  Connected and managed to create a new account and add to the domain.

  • TrueSuite Fingerprint Software me lock out of my files!

    Help!

I use the TrueSuite Access Manager very happy five months for some of my files important protect from prying eyes. Suddenly, today, when I try to "unprotect" them, I get a message saying "Invalid"File Protection Key"". The fingerprint reader works fine and TrueSuite Access Manager accepts my footprint quite happy.

I am using Windows XP Pro. The only things that have happened since I last accessed files successfully was a download Microsoft Tuesday last week and my Norton Internet Security 2008 installation.

I really hope you guys can help ' cos I need to access these files.

    Steve

PS, I tried to restore to a previous system restore point, but they all fail...

Well, here is where I have to this day...

The TrueSuite Access Manager is provided by AuthenTec, but is actually just a rebadged version of the Password of ABIG software. The site Web of TrueSuite disappeared off the internet (although you can find one or two references to the fact that there were once). AuthenTec or ABIG offer any support whatsoever. So the only source of help is Toshiba...

I traced the beginning of my woes to an application error logged in the log of the events of Win XP - fingerprint software didn't. The description of the error says only: "prints notifier Application digital Suite has encountered a problem and needs to close." Large. The application error has somehow broken the link between fingerprints recorded and the key used to 'protect' all my files. Even having a back-up fingerprints was useless, because that was the link between the fingerprint identification system and the file system of Windows that was broken, not fingerprint information...

I rang the Toshiba help line, who recommended to download and install the latest drivers. What I've done. It made no difference.

I managed to roll back to Windows to a date earlier than the application error (the problem I had before which prevented me to restore the system to an earlier date was caused by Norton internet Security, a "known" feature). But even once it made no difference.

So where am I today? TrueSuite has lost the connection between my fingerprints and the key that he used with the file system Windows to protect my files, I was in turn locked out of all files. I can't access, copy, move them or delete them, BACK or Win XP. Toshiba recommendation is to use the provided with the laptop recovery disks and to reinstall Windows XP from scratch. Of course this will not return me my information, but at least it will remove all unnecessary files and free up the space occupied by them!

Lessons to be learned - if you use TrueSuite to protect your files, think twice. If you want to continue to do so, back up all your files before protecting them. Of course, the backup version of the file will not be protected fingerprint (bat rather the object of the exercise, is not...)

    Good luck.

My HP pavilion laptop G6 locked out

    Hello

You don't mention which operating system you use, but if you normally sign - on with an email and password (Windows 8, 8.1 & 10), see if you can reset the password via another PC from the Microsoft page on the following link.

    https://account.live.com/password/reset

Otherwise, there is a general policy on the Forum do not provide methods to bypass the Windows log-on passwords, but a local computer store would be able to do it for you.

Another option, if all your personal data, etc. is saved, would be to reset the laptop to his "factory Condition" and then set it upwards from the beginning - if you do not have your recovery media, your laptop are shipped with a recovery Partition which is accessible at the start - that is to say stop the laptop, then start typing away at f11 as soon as you turn on.

A comprehensive guide on this can be found on the following link.

  • OfficeJet 6700: Officejet 6700 locked out of Control Panel

I just bought this printer for my office a week ago, and has put in place for the wireless network, everything worked very well.  Over the weekend, it seems he dropped the Wi - Fi connection and when I went to restore it, I am locked out most of the settings and said that the administrator (me) locked their (no) when it was put in place.

I plugged in an ethernet cable and I am still not able to enter the web page of the printer to access these settings.  On ethernet, I cannot ping the device from any other computer on the network.  How can I obtain this lock out of here? I'm almost ready to return this thing, it's ridiculous.
