  • Should I have the Network Access Protection Agent Service to start automatically on Windows 8?

    Hello!

While I was looking for a completely different setting in Control Panel in Windows 8, I came across the center of the Action settings and noticed that the Agent of network access Protection service is not running. I open the computer management snap-in and noticed that the service is configured by default must be started manually. I looked for more information on the internet but I wasn't able to find a detailed explanation about his goal for a personal computer. The only explanation I found applied only to Windows Server.

Is it really necessary to configure this service to start automatically on a home network, or can it be just left set to start manually? What is its use on Windows 8? Is this just in case the computer needs to access a network of business domain?

I am running Windows 8 Pro 64-bit edition on an Acer Aspire 5552-5898 connected most of the time in my network domestic, although usually I connect to public networks. My computer is not configured to connect to a domain on a corporate network, not even using VPN. When I access my e-mail from this computer company account, I first need to authenticate with a code provided by RSA device before I can connect to Outlook (OWA).

    See you soon!

    Hi Cspork,

    Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community!

You have reached the right forum. Try to solve this problem.

As I understand it, in the center of the Action the officer of Access Protection settings network service does not work.

The network access Protection agent service collects and manages health information for client computers on a network. The information collected by the NAP agent are used to ensure that the client computer has the required software and settings. If a client computer is not compatible with the health policy, it can be equipped with restricted network access until their configuration is updated. Depending on the configuration of health policies, client computers may be automatically refreshed allowing users to quickly regain full network access without having to manually update the computer.

The service can be left to be set to start manually.

It is especially where the computer needs to access a network of business domain.

Hope the helps of information. Don't answer if you need assistance, we will be happy to help you.

How can I activate on the network access Protection, he tells me it's off and that it must be manufactured on. So please can you me how to enable Network Access Protection?

You don't need to turn it on. Network access protection is a feature that for use in business and companies to make sure that only clients which are safe and meet certain security requirements could access the network location. It is something that will be in service by admin in a company if wanted.

If your PC is part of the domain network and it is part of the company contact your admin to ask if this feature is applicable. Otherwise, don't need to worry about this. This is just to inform you about the status of the PAN and you don't need to do anything.

  • How can I activate on the network access Protection?

Windows 8 may depend on network access Protection.  How can I?   How to find the answer to this question.   I see that a lot of people have the same question, but I do not see a single response.  I see that they have received a response, but can't find the answer.

Its a Windows Service.    Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services - and scroll down to the network access Protection Agent.       If you set it to automatic, it will run at startup every time.    You can read its description.

  • U2715H - Windows automatically resized when the screen turns off then turn it back on

    • Windows 8.1 Pro
    • 1 single monitor connected to the PC
    • native resolution 2650 x 1440 at 60 Hz the value
    • through CDM of the monitor to the RFP the ti EVGA 750 SC (cable Dell)
    • all drivers updated on 28/12/15

I just bought this monitor and I noticed this strange behavior. Whenever I have turn off the monitor (or it will turn off by itself), if I didn't have a maximized window, all windows (regardless of size) gets automatically resized to fit in the left upper quadrant when the screen turns back on again.  If I had something full screen, this behavior does not occur.

I find this very annoying. This behavior happened with my previous monitor, which was only 1080 x 1200.

I was unable to find any setting for the U2715H disable this "feature". This isn't because EasyArrange from Dell. I do not use this feature. And this always happens with Display Manager not installed.

Is it just a 'feature' of Dell U2715H? Is responsible for Windows? Help, please.

    TIA

There was no pilot or changes to the hardware of my first post.  BTW, my monitor is a Rev A02.

A few days after my previous message, another question emerged.  Monitor flash intermittently ON / OFF every few seconds.  I unplugged/replugged the cable CDM - DP and that seems to fix things... until the next day.  This time, I nothing could fix the random rotation power SWITCH of the monitor.  Desperate, I decided to plug an old HDMI cable, I had to hang out.  Flashing problem has been resolved.  Not only this, using HDMI solved my original problem of auto resizing windows.

The solution to my original problem: use an HDMI cable.  I went to the Dell CDM - DP cable and the problem has been resolved; no more windows resize automatically when the monitor turns off in sleep/towers.  I always get the native resolution at 60 Hz and there is no noticeable disadvantages to the use of the HDMI versus DP interface.  I've been using the HDMI cable for about a week and there is no other issue.

Just for additional verification, I bought an Accell UltraAV DP - DP 1.2 cable (B142C-007 b-2), one of the few officially approved by VESA (see link below).  Using this cable does NOT my automatic window resizing problem original.  I do not use it long enough to see if they would prevent the random flashing question.

I still don't know the exact cause of my original question.  I guess it's a driver problem with DisplayPort standard.  But if you do not need DP 1.2 functionality, I suggest that you just use your GPU HDMI output (if she has a).
