Windows 8 OEM through KMS activation

Hello

We have 100 systems with Windows 8 Pro OEM license and we also bought another 100 Windows 8 Pro VLK licenses for other systems with the old operating system.

We would now enable all 200 KMS server systems. We have prepared an operating system Windows 8 Pro VLK ISO image.

If we deploy just this image of an operating system on all 200 systems, we will be in line with the MS license or is there any other requirement to achieve this.

Will be great if someone can point to the documentation from Ms.

Thank you.

You will not be able to activate the 100 Windows 8 Pro OEM licenses using the KMS server, those must be set manually (so even once, preinstalled copies is already activated or automatically activate the minute they detect an Internet connection active).

If you want to have the OEM preinstalls activate via KMS, you buy 100 copies of additional volume of Windows 8 Pro license and rebuild their image.

I bought an OEM licensed for laptop HP ENVY TouchSmart J003tx with WIndows 8 a year back. Recently the OS has had some problems and I had to reinstall using the option refresh to Windows 8 providd.

However, when the operating system had been updated, it is said that the previous operating system license key cannot be used and it was blocked and asked to purchase a new license. After reading the forums, I found that this is a problem in WIndws 8 or BIOS where the key was stored.

Could someone help me how to solve this problem without buying a new license.

  • Windows 7 OEM never active key but can't find discs, I can sell it?

I have a spare Windows 7 OEM key, I bought several years for construction of the computer, but ended up never activate. I kept it in a journal of all keys that, over time, I bought, but I don't have the disks. MS has retained this page to download Windows 7 when you plug the key, I have confirmed here that the key is always good. I have an old SSD to sell with it, too. So it is possible to sell safe key with the SSD because it has never been activated?

Yes, you can, as long as this is not enabled.

    (1) I'll be able to activate my Windows 7 OEM new temporary hard disk?

    and especially:

    (2) if I am able to activate Windows on the new drive, I'll be able to put my original hard drive, once it is fixed, in my computer and "re-install" the activation code on this HD previously enabled?   I no longer need it on the temporary disk.

There is not need - and no point - to 'disable' Windows before installing a new drive (or a new machine)

Such a procedure is relevant that when you change the product key on the current installation, as no changes only occur on the Server Activation of Ms. MS senior officials also suggest that the procedure is actually dangerous!

Unless you use recovery media from the manufacturer for the new installation, you MUST use the product key of the COA sticker or your full license to install retail package - if you try to use the key found a tool Keyfinder, chances are that it will not work.

  • Windows 7 OEM license, cloned the new hard drive.

I'm scratching my head on this one.

I'm running Windows 7 Pro with an OEM license.

Beyond December, my original hard drive started failing so I made a clone of Clonezilla and transferred to a new hard drive.  Since then, I have not been able to run Windows update and I regularly get a Windows is not real popup.  I checked the section properties and my computer Windows Activation of Windows is enabled.  I tried the site of verification but that sends me to a web page that does not seem to load correctly and 9/10 times.  When I managed to load and I downloaded the WindowsActivationUpdate tool, it gives me just a Setup 0xC8000247 error.  I tried returning my SLUI 3 product key and everything went through fine.  I checked various websites and people say that it must be good using a new hard drive, others say you can't and others are calling saying Microsoft and speak to someone.

Can I use my OEM license when transferring to a new hard drive?  Answer, what would be the next step?

Yes, you can use the same OEM license, because it's the same computer.

What you need to do is probably performing a new installation. Clone software tends not to provide the best results.

The old hard drive still works? You might try one last time to create a system image and restore it on the new hard drive:

How to pass Windows 7 to a bigger hard drive - books...

This of course would mean reinstall the old hard drive, create a system image and then restore it on the hard drive.

Another option is to perform a new installation using the OEM key.

Step 1: Download a copy of Windows 7:

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?

Make sure you scroll down and read the section:

What to do if you cannot get your manufacturer recovery media, refuse to use or to buy it or the Microsoft Software Recovery Website does not work?

Step 2: Perform a custom installation, see Windows 7 section of the following article how to perform a custom installation:

How to: perform a customized Windows installation

  • Windows 7 OEM ISO

    I need a little help.

After several trials/cleans/restorations made to my current computer to Windows 7 Home Premium, I am unable to upgrade to Win10. (I get different errors at different times, the farthest, I got is 33% in the install window black.)

I decided somewhere along the way there is a corruption in my computer and the best solution is to do a clean install of win7, then proceed with the upgrade to win10 and reinstall my desired apps.

All that being said, iso Win7 Home Premium ALLOWS you to be available to a third party Microsoft Download site.  In recent months, this has changed to where all the ISO files are downloaded directly from Microsoft Support.  The problem: I have an iBuyPower computer and the Microsoft site will generate the ISO to get copies of win7 which were retail, not bought by a third party.

iBuyPower offers the recovery for $ 20 disk, but it is the hard copy and will take weeks to get to me.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find the ISO?  Is there a reason why I would need the OEM recovery disk (bloatware, etc) rather than a normal ISO retail?

    Brett,

1 ISO is no longer available for preinstalled Windows 7, as you have already discovered.  There seems little point to find a way to work around this limitation, as will any website providing downloads without a permit and could add anything they wanted the installation files [it is difficult enough to get rid of any normal malware infection but the malware that was written in a corrupted operating system can be nearly impossible to remove].

2.1 you can borrow another installation DVD to do to someone.

2.2 you must borrow a Home Premium installation DVD and you should verify that this is the DVD for your type of architecture (32- or 64-bit).

2.3 installation with a borrowed DVD will mean that you will certainly have to enter the product key from your certificate of authenticity [CoA] label.

2.4 it is possible to save this installation from a USB DVD and your license allows you to do.  It's a bit complicated but I'll explain if you do [you run DiskPart specific orders and then just copy the entire DVD through USB].

3.1 the potential advantage to use a DVD from the [iBuyPower] preinstallateur only exist if your Windows 7 has been automatic activation when you got your computer either he ran you through the Setup process, but you don't have to enter the product key of your CoA to activate Windows 7.  [Product key is provided in the case where this mechanism put never stops working.

3.2 the advantage is that the use of their DVD recovery means that the same thing will happen again - you will not need to enter the product key.  This direct question to avoid disappointment.  There may be a secondary benefit because it is likely to include hardware drivers correct as well - which will save you a bit of bother all work later.

3.3 make sure what they want to say what you want them to say.  There is no definition agreed a "recovery disc" so there is a danger that they might mean just a disk with all the drivers on this subject rather than a disk from which you can reinstall Windows 7.  This direct question to avoid disappointment.

3.4 to qualify for the upgrade, you must complete all updates Windows 7 up to and including SP1 you can also check with iBuyPower or not their recovery disk is already at SP1 because who would you save a lot of effort.

    4. Note that a lot of people have had problems to upgrade to Windows 10.  Then, some have had problems running Windows 10 [many found that OneDrive has messed up their own records of user access permissions, just for example].  Some have had problems after then go back to Windows 7.  So having a convenient reinstall drive is an important tool to be ready before you try the upgrade [with a system image to install Windows 7 over since allowing the fastest possible return to your starting point if everything went bad for you again, probably only 20 minutes] again.  Also keep in mind that there is no emergency, we have until July 29, 2016 to upgrade - wait a few months could mean that a lot of these flaws have been corrected.  I use the Preview version for now and am not upgrading my main installation of Windows 7 until late November.  iBuyPower 'several weeks' delay postal could in fact rather to suit you.

5 you has not wondered about it, but...  You realize that, once you have an active Windows 7 SP1 installed, you can run the upgrade of Windows 10 as a repair [aka InPlace upgrade] installation.  See my points 5 to 9 in this thread [*] for the procedure.  If it did all go horribly wrong and you had to go back to Windows 7 SP1, then start again, at least you would have a ready to go install Windows 10 disc rather than having to repeat once again the whole download phase.  [* If what I wrote in this other thread needs clarification then please post back here in your own thread, not a such that she could all get pretty confusing otherwise.]

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

  • Reinstall Windows 7 without cd HP, activation problem!

    Hello

We (the company) have recently bought a HP Compaq Pro 4300 Small Form Factor machine. A little hard to explain but when I configure the pc for what we will use to, I messed up and he had to do a reinstall and start over.

The pc came stock with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and is expandable to Windows 8. There is no sticker Windows license on the pc because it's one of those machines that has integrated into the BIOS or something license key (for Windows 8 I think). I used Produkey to get the license number for resettlement.

The first thing we thrown when we arrived the pc is the recovery disks and driver that came with it. I used a cd of Windows 7 Pro 64 - bit authentic, original for installation. Very well installed, use the license during the installation key. Installed all the drivers and the software I needed, got all the updates of Windows etc.

But now, it doesn't let me activate it! It gives me the error 0xc004e003. Also, it does not have the ability to call Microsoft. I installed using the 00371-OEM-8992671-00008 license code. I also tried the "Windows (BIOS OEM Key)" in the menu of activation (after installation), but it would not accept this number, probably because this key is ment for Windows 8.

Can someone tell me what I can do to activate this machine? I have to say that Microsoft makes it really tempting to just, hack as it's generally easier to remain authentic.

It turns out that even in the absence of recovery cd, you can still recover the machine of the recovery on the hard drive partition. Works fine now!

  • Regarding Windows 8 - OEM key built into the BIOS.

I have a pre installed Windows 8 HP Notebook (under warranty).

I get a new HP's HARD drive replacement.

My question is that if I install a Windows 8 Pro OS with a new activation code on Microsoft Store, then the original Windows 8 - OEM key integrated in the BIOS would get replaced by this new Windows 8 Pro activation key?

Or if the OEM of origin incorporated in the BIOS key will remain intact?

    Hello

The original key from Windows 8 will remain integrated in the bios.

    Kind regards

  • Activate Windows 7 OEM

Hi, we use Dell Optiplex PC brand with Windows 7 Professional (OEM) & Windows XP Professional (OEM) version. We already have PCs 1 817 and per month, to buy about 20 new PC. Now, we are facing a great problem in the activation of Windows 7. I describe the scenario briefly for your understanding:

    1. Since the beginning of the arrival of Windows 7 Professional (OEM) in our Organization, we used a clean install of Windows 7 Professional (OEM) on a PC. As it is an OEM version, the windows are automatically activated. Then, we used 'Acronis True Image Home' to create an image of that installation and used to deploy the other PC.

    2. after a few weeks, we began to face the problem "Windows is not genuine" of some screens PC Windows 7 message "Windows is not genuine".

    3. my question is what is the reason for the problem?

    4. as our windows is OEM (each pc also has a certificate of authenticity), probably no need to install an Activation of Windows Server locally or activate Windows Online uses Microsoft server activation key. Am I wrong?

    5. What are your opinions and suggestions about Windows 7 installation & activation for our Organization?

Please answer me as soon as possible.

The most common cause/remedy for this type of problem is Intel rapid storage drivers.

Certainly, we need to see a MGADiag report among the affected machines.

To analyze and solve problems for Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to the desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the button continue, which will produce the report.
To copy the report in your response, click the button copy in the tool (ignore the error at this stage), and then paste (using r-click and paste or Ctrl + V) in your response.

You can use the copy of Windows 7 to restore factory settings. To start the process, you press the F9 key at the beginning of the boot immediately after switching on the computer.

Before restoring factory settings, please check that you know the 25 character product key located on the COA sticker on the computer case. Don't post details key product here or in any other public forum. Please see the image below for an illustration showing a typical COA sticker.

Your operating system is corrupted. To eliminate the problems on your computer, you need to restore factory settings and rebuild your computer system.

A recovery of the system partition contains a copy of the operating system as it was when the computer was purchased new. Using the copy of Windows 7, you can restore the computer to factory settings. Of course you must back up your data files to an external before restoring support as the process reformats the disk thus clearing all existing files before writing new files.

When you have restored to factory settings you must configure an internet connection, install anti-virus software, update all drivers from the Asus site and install Windows all updates. Run Disk Cleanup and defragmentation of the intervals.

You should then be able to reinstall the programs. With this in mind, make a list programs must be installed and make sure you have the means to do so. Make sure you have the information necessary to recreate your internet connection on the new system. Make a list of what you need to do and the order in which you intend to do each task. This will help you greatly when you perform the operation. If you have a second computer available when you rebuild your computer system, it helps if you reach a problem and need to check online.
