Windows 8 showing is not hard during clean installation

I'm running a Dell XPS 15 L521X. I have upgraded to Windows 8, Windows 7, last year, and I'm trying to do a clean install of Windows 8. When I get to the screen to select the hard drive, I want to install Windows, nothing appears. I am trying to install it on my drive hard main 500 GB running Windows 8. Can I use the current hard drive very well and it is recognized in my computer and my current Windows 8 works fine, however when I try to do a clean install it appears not. I went to the Device Manager and everything seems correct, and drivers seem to be updated. My laptop also uses a SSD 32GB as well alongside the main 500GB HDD, if that helps. Is there a way can I fix? Thanks for any help!

Yes you need to load the SATA drivers during the installation of Windows 8. For the use of XPS 15 L521x:

http://ftp.Dell.com/FOLDER01392797M/1/Serial-ATA_Driver_RW28W_WN_11.7.4.1001_A03.exe

See the Windows reinstallation Guide / A Clean install of Windows 8 step 6 (preparation) and step 8 (loading) SATA drivers. 500 GB hard drive should appear once the SATA drivers are activated.

http://philipyip.WordPress.com/Dell-community-forums/

The 32 GB SSD should not appear you should have Intel Smart Response Technology enabled in the BIOS Setup. In this configuration, your SSD is configured as a Disk Cache. See this document for more information:

http://en.community.Dell.com/CFS-file.ashx/__key/CommunityServer-components-postattachments/00-20-08-79-33/Intel-responsiveness-technologies-0.91.PDF

Make sure that you install the application .exe to the SATA driver mentioned after you have installed the operating system drivers and system to take advantage of the SSD cache.

Note: If you disable this BIOS setting you can see the SSD, but that the SSD is so small it is not recommended to do that you will probably need more than 32 GB for your installation of Windows 8.

  • Windows 7 will be not updated after clean install

I recently acquired a Vista laptop that I improved with a SSD and Windows 7 Professional.  After installation without incident on a new SSD and activation, I discovered that Win7 does not refresh the console update continues just search for updates and the CPU activity revolves around 50%.  I've linked several fixes on this site and others with no luck.

I'm not a PC expert, but I (FINALLY) know what caused this problem and how to solve it!  , But first of all note that this is the solution for my WINDOWS 7 64-bit Home Premium just after a clean installation.  I don't know if this plan works for 32-bit systems or other 7s to win, but novel with minor changes and some research...?

The part of Windows 7 that search updates would normally take 24 to 48 hours to complete his research.  You can tell that you have this problem, while you are waiting for the update search by CTRL-ALT-DEL, start the Task Manager, then watch TAB PROCESS, then click: show processes from all users.  Look down the list until you find a SVCHOST. EXE running by the SYSTEM which uses 50% or more of CPU and a large piece (73%) of memory.  Then, go to the window Windows Update of the control panel and it say to never look updates.  Then return to the Task Manager and KILL the big 50% fat process that you just found.

MS produced a patch (patches of 2 k) that you can't normally without an update.  There is a way to download these files from 2 k, but then...

You cannot install them normally without using WUSA (the stand-alone installation of Windows Update program).  And if you try to use it to install the patches, WUSA must begin a new search for 48 hours for updates before installing anything.  It is a circular trap!

(Make sure that you run as administrator)

    Click on the RACE to the top of the page, then right click on it and select PASTE;

    Replace Edmund regardless of your username;

Press ENTER and let it roll.  After the installation is done, then...

    Hello

-Remove the existing disk partitions before performing a new installation?

If so, follow these steps to do the same thing:

    a. Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
    b. at the welcome page in the Setup program, press ENTER to continue.
    c. press F8 to accept the license agreement for Windows XP.
    d. If an existing Windows XP installation is detected, you will be asked to fix it. At this point, press ESC (not repair).
    e. the screen now lists all existing partitions and unpartitioned for each hard drive space. Use the cursor/arrow keys to choose a place to create the new partition. Press D to delete an existing partition, or press C to create a new partition in the unpartitioned space.

If you press D to delete an existing partition, you must then press L (or press ENTER and then press L if it is the system partition) to confirm that you want to delete this partition.

Repeat this procedure for each of the existing partitions that you want to delete (or move) to create your new partition. When all necessary partitions are deleted, you can then select the remaining unpartitioned space and then press C to create new partitions.

Note: If you want to create a partition where there is already at least one partition, you must first delete the existing partitions and then create the new partition. Type the size in megabytes (MB) that you want the new partition to be. And then press ENTER. Alternatively, you can just press ENTER to create the partition using all of the available space (for example to create the largest possible partition).

If you want to install Windows XP, use the arrow keys to select the partition where you want to install Windows XP, and then press ENTER.

  • Vista installation hangs on the end of the installation during clean installation

Hello, I'm having a problem installing a clean installation of Windows Vista Home Basic on Acer laptop from my friend.

For starters, my friend got a red anti virus that has destroyed more or less its windows.  After doing a restore of the system for the first available date, the virus had disappeared, but Windows kept asking me how to open simple things like Internet Explorer and various other programs, which means that the OS is unusable.  My friend gave me permission to format the drive and I reinstalled Vista with a DVD of my I had to leave one of my PC, but I used the CD key on the laptop.  The installation went well, I went on my desktop PC and downloaded all the drivers for his laptop (Aspire 5516), and then installed a sound card driver and an update of the BIOs.  After updating the BIOs, the laptop starts again.  I tried to do a system restore but it had no restore points, then because I just started, I thought a quick format wouldn't hurt.
This is where things went wrong.  I tried to reinstall Vista again, but it keeps hanging on the part "complete installation."  I tried three times so far and it always crashes at the same exact part, and now I have no idea what to do.
Any suggestion or help would be appreciated, thanks.

The copy of Vista, I use came from my college that I got for free to be in a computer SCIENCE major.  This isn't a particular manufacturer.

EDIT: I apologize for not to say that from the beginning.  It is never used because I already had 7 at this time.
In any case, I changed my BIOs native IDE or something of the sort, and I have Vista start.  I'm in shock, but I guess that when I flashed the BIOs, it's turned back on it to the wrong setting or something.  That's all I can think about.

  • Sometimes the clips in Windows Movie Maker will not play during preview and not at all after publication...

Hello!  I just create a movie using Windows Movie Maker (HP Pavilion dv6000/Windows Vista Home Premium).  During the PREVIEW, the first part of the video of my film sometimes will not play (view) while the audio continues. Sometimes he will play (view).  All clips are saved in the right place, the file formats are correct, and everything else that I think is done correctly.  In addition, after the publication of the video, he did the same thing; some parts of the beginning is not playing (see) only the audio.  I believe that this can have started happening after a few times when an error message pops up saying something like "Video player has stopped responding, but has revived with success...» "or something like that.

Now, I tried a few things to try to fix the problem.  I noticed that if I take the transitions and effects on the clips then they play but every time. I don't know why this happens only at the beginning of the movie and not all of the film since I also have clips with transitions and effects in the end.  Help!  This is my first time using this program/do a movie (and it's really good if I must say for me... he can win an Oscar! * smile *), but I wonder if I did something by mistake at the origin of this problem...
