Windows backup does not complete successfully; ignored files

Original title: backup Windows does not correctly complete

My back procedure never seems to fill in correctly and there are always ignored files.

I had a user account (missing) earlier (see my previous question linkhttp://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7security/thread/e625349c-3d2c-46fd-bdaf-0b38f4172da6/ ) which resulted in a lot of ignored files mainly from the user account disappeared (from Control Panel and the Welcome screen). I deleted the user account through management of the computer and also physically deleted the folder. Now, I don't have as many files ignored but I still get the journal something like that.

Backup has encountered a problem during backup of the C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Podcasts file. Error: (the system cannot find the specified file. (0 x 80070002))
Backup has encountered a problem during backup of the C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Podcasts file. Error: (the system cannot find the specified file. (0 x 80070002))
Backup has encountered a problem during backup of the C:\Users\Administrator\Searches file. Error: (the system cannot find the specified file. (0 x 80070002))

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What I don't understand is if she is not able to trust the file why bother about backup? After all backup is supposed to be mirror image (literally) of things saved.

  • Windows backup did not complete successfully.

My backups attempts continue to fail with "Windows backup has not completely managed" and when I click on the 'Options' button, it gives me the details of why and wrote "the disk where your backups are saved doesn't have enough free space.

That is TOTALLY INCORRECT (it is a 1 TB 1000 GB hard drive) and my Windows 7 disc has only about 500 GB on it).

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit installed (a clean install, not upgrade). I'm looking to back up from my boot drive (it's a multiboot machine, this time Vista Ultimate 64 on drive C: and Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on drive E :).) I have three other drives in this workstation HP xw 8200, two of them are used for backups, that is, "backups (Vista) (d)" and "backups (Windows 7) (f). All discs are 1 TB disks.

Okay, I realize NOW, the problem is that in Windows 7, when I use the default settings for backup, the utility is trying to establish an Image of TIMES my disk of Vista (c) system and the Windows disk (E :), which of course well exceeds the space that I have on my unique physical backup disk.) I realized this after I chose the option to just an image of the system and it shows the selected physical disks (C: and E :) with NO WAY to deselect the C: Vista drive even if I booted from a disk system/physical separate (Windows 7). This seems to be a very poor interface or inconsistent WRT backup under Windows 7. Vista Ultimate UI for backup did NOT have this behavior (i.e., it ONLY allows me to make an image of the C: drive system, for example, my Vista drive when I boot on Vista).

  • Windows Backup has not completed successfully error Code: 0x807800B4

I've just set up this computer with Windows 7 Pro SP1, I installed a bunch of apps, do a disc repair system and now I'm trying to save up to a central device part DLINK which is my data storage component only CE.  (Appointed: DLINK-4AB714).  Backup windows will not let me create a system image, because the device doesn't use NTFS file system and it says that it cannot protect the backup.  Frankly, I don't like the so-called protection. I want it to save the dam of the road anyway.  Now, I tried twice with the normal process of backup tries to back up the drive c: as well as of the information system.  This gets more and creating a shadow copy and then begins to back up the data files, but one) it takes forever to displays detailed information, making it necessary for me to leave and let the computer do its work without supervision and b) somewhere in the process, it fails.

It is supposed to be about 77 gigabytes of data on the disc and or the backup attempt exceeded about 15 GB.  The system is running Norton Internet Security, something that came with the motherboard that I bought, and I don't know if that is the cause of the problems or not.  It isn't Norton 360, which also has a backup function.  What I don't see is a lot of network activity between the computer and the DLINK, even Sharing Center when I see the backup giving me details about the files to be backed up.  I wonder if, somehow, the network inactivity is involved.

Somehow, I have to get a full backup so that I can reconfigure my hardware and software of restoration. This is my current goal, but without the aid of successfully complete I can't move forward.

Hi Henry, glad to hear that you are trying to do the right thing, better is now than regret it later.

The error messages are warnings only (mine said safeguards would be unsecured), you should still be able to select the network as a viable situation drive, I tested it and it worked fine for me.

See the answer to this question: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/can-not-backup-windows-7-to-shared-mac-drive/4168a89c-a2fc-4350-bab2-7ec28ce155ff

If this doesn't help not you plan backup on a USB and then manually copying the backup to your network storage.

My last option for you is to watch a 3rd third party tool for backup instead.

    Hello

We suggest to create a new backup of the operating system to ensure that you will have a complete recovery Image. Since you get an error message that "backup have not installed successfully", it is possible that the backup created on your drive is damaged.

If you have any other questions, feel free to get back to us.

Seen also it is suggested to get an external hardware, but what about hang the laptop to existing pc?  Would you do that?  What wiring do I need?

    Hi beltwaytraveler,

    1. you have any third-party backup program installed?

2 have you tried to use a different backup disk?

    Method 1:

You can temporarily uninstall third-party anti-virus on your computer protection software and then check if the problem occurs.

Note: Be sure to install the security software on the computer after you fix the problem.

    Method 2:

You can also try to uninstall any third-party backup program installed on the computer and try the backup.

    Method 3:

You try to run the following command and check if all third-party services are running other Microsoft services.

    a. Click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right click Guest and then click Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.

    b. type the following command and press ENTER:

    vssadmin list writers

    c. check the VSS writers listed.

If you see any third-party service other than Microsoft services running, and then let us know about it.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Shared folder, Windows 7 does not automatically update the files as they are deleted or modified.

original title: data network of Windows 7 problem

My problem is with all the means to modify data on my network with windows 7.

    The problem is the following:

    * 4 xp pc

    * 2 win7 (1 pro x 32 & 1 x 64 pro)

    * 1 pc xp with my files in a shared folder.

    all on the same network.

all PCs can access the folder of sparkle. I have traced the folder on the xp pc 4 and 2 win7 pro pc without problems.

Now, if I delete one of the files on the xp pc, or with one of the other networked xp pc, I can see the file disappeared on all xp pc and or if I make changes on my file as an excel file, I can see the changes on all xp pc.

Now if I delete or make changes on my files with my pc xp, my pc win 7 does not show that I deleted files or changed anything.

still, it shows the deleted files and can even open with all the deleted data still intact.

I deleted the drive on the pc win 7 and consulted mapping data by accessing the location on the network and still have the same problem.

It's like winning 7 pads files or something.

Offline files is not enabled, or synchronized.

I hope someone can help me.

This problem has occurred to some of my PC too, after trying all the solutions non-utile so-called, ms professional here is how I solved it, click on the menu of the sar, right-click on Documents, remove all library locations, tried and it has not always worked, restored the locations by DEFAULT, it still didn't WORK , has ADDED ONE MORE, now, everything worked well, after this step i took just the location I had added (not by default) and it still works very well.

This error has nothing to do with third-party software, but it has everything to do with the "libraries" functionality", the reason for this statement is because if I go to computer\c\users\myuser\my documents\
everything works fine, but if I go to the start menu--> documents (which uses the library feature), then it has failed.
Just so removing and adding a few ocntent library solved the problem.

  • Error: Windows backup could not create a zip file.

I installed Windows 7 RC.  Installation went well, system runs quickly with no problem except when I try to perform a backup.  Seems to work at the end of the backup, and then fails with the error message «Windows backup to create a zip file» could not  «This could because the reader what is installed on Windows isn't a not enough space or it could be a temporary error.»  Make sure you have at least 400 MB of free space and try again' drive Windows is installed on has 163 GB of free space.  I tried several time backup on a separate internal drive > 300 GB of free space and a NAS drive (> 1.5 TB of free space with the same error message).

    Hi mhgreene,

Thanks for posting "Preparation for Windows 7" community forum.

Of after the information provided which happens usually not, is that the system tries to write to the partition recovery or diagnostic partition instead of the C:\.  You can confirm the backup partition is written is done to partition the drive, and you want the backup to reside.

Let us know if this helps solve the problem or if assistance is needed.

  • Why windows backup did not restore all my files?

He was set to back up all the files (documents, music, photos, etc.), but I restored my latest backup of the system and it seems to have restored some valuable files that I thought it was supposed to be back up.

Somewhat confusingly, I have a folder containing many shortcuts to some of the files that are apparently not here, but can open the destination via the shortcut folder although it don't or unable to display the folder in Windows Explorer.

Any help to work out what is going on would be greatly appreciated!
    Matt.

Display the hidden files and folders. If no go, sfc scan. They should bail out you.

  • Windows 7 does not start successfully - just says that it is "Logging Off".

It is Windows 7 Home Premium on a new Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop.  We bought a month ago and have been using it without any unusual problems.  He has two accounts on this subject (an Admin, limited to one).

Today, without warning, he lost contact with another PC on our internal network - just did nothing when we have tried to reach this node.  While trying to diagnose this problem, the screen has become Milky - IE as it does when a task is suspended or he's busy somehow.  I've logged on to the administrator account and everything was normal, including the node of the network which I could access good.  When I went back to the other account, the screen was always in milky way, so I decided to try a reboot.  He said "Logging Off" but did not exceed, so I've finally turned off manually.  Since then, when I turn it on, all I am (instantly) is the pale blue normal Windows screen with "Logging Off" and the little circle that indicates that he is dealing with something (and 'Windows 7 Home Premium' at the bottom of the screen).  I can't do anything other than that.  I tried holding F8 to the low and various other things during the start to try to get a response, but it is completely insensitive outside of what I described above.

Can you please what may be at fault here, nor the few items I could try that may help more diagnosis.  Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

If you get strange Windows screen instantly when you turn on the laptop so you never really off. He is currently in sleep or Hibernate mode. To really turn it off, press the power button for 10 seconds or remove the battery and the power supply.
