  To provide the proper resolution, that I would need more information on your side.

  1. What is the name of the program that does not open?

  2. What is the accurate and complete error message?
  3. when, exactly, you get this error message? It is by running the program or the installation of the program?

  This problem can occur if the program is not compatible with Windows 7.

  Method 1:
  I suggest you try to open the program in compatibility mode. Check if it helps.

Once a year, or as needed, I backup all my data and reinstall my OS.  This weekend I did the same thing with the copy of Windows 7 Ultimate, I bought at the University that I attended. Installation goes smoothly, however, I get a message that windows cannot activate.  When I click to see the details of the error, it indicates the following information was found about this error:

  If you mean every single security update (and Service Pack) that is never released for Windows XP (that is, since August 2001), God not!

  If you end up needing to do a clean install of Windows XP after Q 2, 14, you would be better to replace the computer! [1]

  PS: Get a computer fully patched after doing a clean install of Windows XP Gold (no Service Pack) may take 24 hours or more!
