  If you have the following AV, antivirus, programs installed, close your Windows Defender. Purpose of these AVs have their own advocates. 2 defenders on the same machine will create conflicts.
  Bottom line: it's ok. It's normal.
  List of AVs which will stop Windows Defender:

  Norton
  McAfee
  AVG
  Microsoft Security Essentials

  If you have no meanings, here's a way to reboot your Windows Defender:

  Start button > in the search box, typeServices > press the Enter key > scroll to find Windows Defender, click on it >...
  topic status , it must be said... Has begun
  under Startup Type, it must be said... Automatic
  If it does not say that, right click on Windows Defender > click Properties > in the new window, make the necessary changes, as above > click OK when finished.

  What do you use for your antivirus protection? Windows Defender is not necessary if you use AVG, Microsoft Security Essentials, Norton or McAfee. These AV programs have their own antispyware component builtin and allows you to disable Windows Defender by design.

Many as MSE, Norton, McAfee, AVG, etc., will stop Windows Defender because they have the same functionality, and having two programs running at the same time and make security the same work can lead to conflicts.   Exactly what virus or other malware, have you been hit with? How do you have

  What anti-virus and anti-spyware programs you have installed? Are
