Windows DVD Maker do not accept the wmv files error file is not supported.

Hello

I just downloaded a video on YouTube using the 'FreeYouTubeDownload' of DVDVideosoft software.  He managed to create a file wmv to me.  I know it works because when I click on the video file and click on 'play', Windows Media Player automatically opens and plays the video.  So far so good.

I want to burn the file on a DVD.  When I open Windows DVD Maker, click on 'Add items' and click on the video file wmv, I get an error message saying that the file is not supported.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium. This is my first time using DVD creation.  I checked the DVD Maker for filters, but there aren't any.  What gives?  WMV files are supposed to be supported by DVD Maker, Yes?  My DVD authoring program is defective?  Or is the file that the program created YouTubeDownloader defective?  I think not, because Windows Media Player does not play the video.

Any help would be appreciated!

Following up on my own question.  Further investigation revealed that from other sources wmv files were working with DVD Maker.  Therefore, the wmv files, created by the freeware program that I used that were not compatible.  I then used the freeware program to create files avi instead, and they were working with DVD Maker.  I did my DVD and all is well.

  • Windows DVD Maker will not play on the TV DVD player

I have Windows Vista, and Windows Movie Maker to make a movie. I've published using Windows DVD Maker. I've made several copies and sent to various members of my family. While I was able to watch them when I tested them on my TV dvd player, none of my family members are able to watch their copies on their dvd players. In addition, when I insert the dvd in my computer's dvd player, it won't play either. How can I fix?

Thank you. What I did just check "ffdshow" configuration and found that the codec for mp2 was disabled, so I let him. Now when I load the dvd into my computer it starts automatically.

Now, my question is that I have to burn the new dvd for my family, so they can watch on their dvd player TV? Are their other codecs apart from that I have activated that must be adjusted so that DVDs can be found on other dvd players?

The film came out great but when I go to 'release', or burn to dvd, it says Windows Movie Maker will save file and open it in creation of DVD to burn/publish.  About halfway through the movie, there is no 8 mm video, you can see all the titles, and hear the music that I edited in but no video.  I cut the video in half thinking there was too much data, I burned my movie with no other programs running, I changed all the transitions and titles in thinking that you might have a glitch.  I have burned about 10 films try something different each time without success. • Windows DVD Maker says "Not found DVD burner"?

This is my first time doing a DVD, so I don't know what is happening. Initially, when I first add a video, I used to have a DVD burner in the menu bar, saying 'E' and I tried to make the video, but I think that it stopped working after 99% (I was out, so I don't know) and it ejected the DVD with nothing on it and began to say that there is a burner? The 'E' has disappeared. I don't know what happened to him what DVD writer am I supposed to have? Is it free?

And I don't know much about computers (I wanted just to burn a video of me and my friends on a DVD) so please explain so I can understand :)
    Thank you!

  • Windows DVD Maker is not compatible with Windows 8?

I have recently upgraded to Windows 8, and now is not working my Windows DVD Maker. It is said that lack a codex. This application is not supported in Windows 8?

    Hi KenGLove,

You need to install additional software to create discs of DVD movie ready for playback on a video DVD player.  I suggest you check the store or do a search with your favorite browser to find a.

However, you can still use Windows 8 to write data to DVD without additional software disks.

    I hope this helps!

  • Why the version of Windows 7 to Windows DVD Maker product a blurry video of Windows Live Movie Maker?

When I do a DVD (using Windows DVD Maker) of a film produced by Windows Live Movie Maker photos are blurred and contained very low quality video.  The photos that I use in the project are very sharp, as is the video that I use in the project.

The movie makes WLMM project is strong on the computer but when it is published on the DVD in Windows DVD Maker it produces a result blur this film as seen on the computer and any DVD player.  It's nothing to do with transitions because the film WLMM is strong.  Other DVD manufacturers produce a sharp image of the film WLMM even, but I prefer the way Windows DVD Maker makes the DVD with scenes, etc...

The problem seems to lie with the WLMM. creating Windows DVD DVD movie conversion - are they incompatible?  This seems to happen with the version of Windows 7, everything worked fine with versions of Vista on my old computer.  I find it very frustrating to have this return back.  Please suggest a solution.  The version of WLMM is Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3502.0922); I can't find a version number for Windows DVD Maker.

    Update:

Thanks to Irfan for a potential solution.  I did another DVD with all the filters off but unfortunatey it made no difference.  Having had another close watch the DVD video, the problem is to double everything up like a photo on a slow speed where you have shaking of the camera.  In particular, a girl with wire rim glasses has a rim double wire and even a girl with hair each double strand.  When further looked at what gives the appearance of an image finery.  Again, I must say that the film from which the DVD-video has been done had this failure and from DVD of this film by any other manufacturer of DVD Windows DVD Maker does not exhibit this problem.  The operating system is Windows 7.

    Hello Charley Farley,

    1. What is the operating system installed on your computer?

You may experience this problem of there are incompatible filters installed on your computer. I suggest that you turn off the filters and check if you have the same problem.
