  This is a frustrating problem I have with Windows DVD Maker that no one can seem to explain. I have a new computer, less than a month, running Windows 7. I tried to burn clips of film on DVD for various friends and family. I have finished 3 or 4 DVD with success.   However, you can still use Windows 8 to write data to DVD without additional software disks.

  Choose one of your avi files, use a video converter, change it to WMV format.
  Add the WMV to dvd creation. He accept?

  I can choose any style of menu but the preview AND the DVD is just a menu black. The play and chapter buttons work fine. It worked before I restored it.
