Windows Explorer Favorites

According to the help system to import favorites, you click the arrow next to the box add a favorite on the menu drop-down favorite. Well I don't have the arrow and have not been able to find a way to import bookmarks fromm a file.

Please respond by e-mail.

  • Windows Explorer favorite empty and cannot add all items

I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 and recently restored a backup after a system crash. The restore process required me to change the locations by default of the special folders such as Documents, downloads, video, etc.

After a reboot, my favorites (at the top of the left pane in Explorer) became unresponsive.
Favorites is empty and I can't drag all items in the Favorites window ('forbidden access' illustrious red sign).
Even after reset favorite special folder locations is always insensitive.
By clicking on "Add current location to Favorites" in the menu context has no effect.

But increasingly, when I highlight favourites and click on file-> properties from the Explorer menu, nothing happens.

I also tried to create shortcuts in the folder \Users\me\Favorites, but they do not appear.

Anyone else have this experience or you know a fix?

    Thanks for your reply Gael.

I managed to fix it with a different tactic, however.

I tried to save a worksheet Excel to your Favorites, just to see where it will end up and was told by the dialogue that the file could not be saved to C:\Users\me\Links\Links\file.xlsx because the path does not exist.

Then I created another folder in \Users\me\Links called links to complete the path C:\Users\me\Links\Links\ and all my favorite shortcuts in there.
Following the closure of the Explorer window and re - open another, all my favorite shortcuts were again under Favorites at the top of the left pane.
    Problem solved.

I don't know how I managed to set the location of my favorites to C:\Users\me\Links\Links\ in the first place well but I changed the location of the tip links to C:\Users\me\Links to remove the redundant subdirectory and all seems ok again.

    Thanks again for the support.

  • Cannot add or restore the 'Favorites' shortcuts in Windows Explorer

    Hi all

I deleted all the top left of my Windows Explorer Favorites and now wants to drag folders there.

I can't, however, when I drag a folder there, a little icon as a red cross appears.

To view a jpg file what I mean, go on my homepage here: http://din-terapeut.dk/icon.jpg

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Windows 7 build 7600

    Thank you

    Mark

    Hi Mark

This file you are trying to add to your Favorites?

The home folder for Windows Explorer Favorites is C:\Users\your name\Links.

Make sure that the folder still exists. If it is missing, open the Trash to see if it has been deleted. If it is there, select this folder and click file/restore.

If she is still there, go to the Favorites in the top Pane of Navigation, click right-click on Favorites and select restore favorite links .

If drag - déposer still does not work, Open a folder you want to Add to your Favorites. With the file open, click right-click on Favorites , and then select the location to add to Favorites.

    It work?

Thank you for using Windows 7

  • Why does my SkyDrive icon display not in my favorites from Windows Explorer?

Why does my SkyDrive icon display not in my favorites from Windows Explorer? I installed on my PC under Windows SkyDrive 8, but Skydrive icon does not appear in the Windows Explorer Favorites? How can I fix it?

Thanks for your response - I did this and the last step of drag or copy in the Favorites list failed. He said "can't put in Favorites? This is the real icon for SkyDrive placed on desktop as a shortcut. Any thoughts?

    Hello

Right click the Skydrive shortcut that you created, and select copy.

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the C:\Users\your name\Links folder.
(Where 'your name' is the name of your user account)

Right click on the links folder and select Paste.

This will place the Skydrive folder in the Favorites list in the file Explorer.

    Tommy,

You've done a good job answering my question.  Somehow, and I don't know how I did it I accidentally erased all the favourites I had accumulated for quite some time.  I have not found these missing Favorites in the trash that is where I would have expected to have. But that's another story and not a good thing.  I have so appreciated your efforts and I hope at some point I can get these favorites - wherever they are now.

  • Windows Explorer (Vista) does not display the complete list of Favorites

In the current w / last week, my IE (9) does not open a Favorites folder.

(It is large enough - maybe entered 800 (I can't check. beak of this problem).)
Then I noticed that Windows Explorer will never complete if I asked him to show the contents of this folder.
(It shows a lot, but then never finished.)
Worse, even if I peut stop it, if I try to go to another folder, it tries to display the original folder again.
Worse, if I kill this window, the explorer.exe process continues to face of ~ 100% of my (two processor!) CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT.

Kill this process is not (even later) to get me a new Windows Explorer, & so I have to shut down or restart.
Malwarebytes Pro says that my system is clean.
    .. .as is dskchk (sp?)
I tried to isolate the problem by doing a binary search:
    • Find ~1/2 files in the offending file.
    • Move them to a new folder.
    • See if there is still an offending folder.
.. but it took forever, because I keep falling on this problem that I try to do this last step.
    I'm running out of ideas!

    Hello

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the C:\Users\yourname\Links folder. Right-click in the folder, and select new/shortcut. Create a shortcut to a local folder.

Close Windows Explorer and open it again to see if this shortcut will appear in the Favorites.

If this does not work, go to the folder/organize and search options. Click the Display tab and make sure that Show Hidden files, folders, and drives is selected.

Make sure that Hide extensions of known file types and Hide protected operating system files are not selected. Click apply/OK.

Close and reopen agin Windows Explorer, place you in the links folder and see if there is a file named Desktop.ini into this folder.

  • Accidentally deleted the "Favorites" link in Windows Explorer

I accidentally deleted the "Favorites" link in the Windows Explorer (should not be confused with the Favorites of IE).  It's the shortcuts in the upper left corner of Windows Explorer that will take you to a place in Explorer - a shortcut to a folder.  I tried right click then 'Restore favorite links' as well as the addition of the 'Links' to C:\users\Username\ folder.  None of this works.  If I try to drag and drop a folder in the Favorites, it has a red circle with a slash do not allow me to do.  I have Win 7-64 bit.  I prefer not to do a system restore, as happened two weeks ago and I don't want to spoil the other changes that have taken place since then.  Any help would be so appreciated.

I'm trying to get a list of a few home videos, I have in my hard disk in excel including the duration tab that is displayed in Windows Explorer.

Is there a way to do this either under windows or excel itself or another program third party?

    Hi jcikal,

It is not possible to import or export the metadata of files & folders from Windows Explorer to Microsoft Excel.

However, you can use your favorite search engine and look for any third party software that can serve the purpose.
