Oh sorry, you will need to obtain from another computer Windows Vista or your install disc (if you have one, these instructions are here).  I have just the zip and give you a complete file of fonts, but it's against the license (and technically to the United States law) for them to be distributed.

Given the message is something in this sense:

Index of Windows performance for your system cannot be calculated.
Could not measure the performance of storage.
Error: Cannot properly assess the disc.
    The parameter is incorrect.

Do you use ReadyBoost (a USB drive connected to 'boost' performance)?  If so, unplug it.

You have symbolic links to other locations on the system?  Check your TMP and TEMP environment variables to point to the REAL locations - not through any symbolic link.

Make sure that the space is sufficient on the drive in question, as well.

At the end of the day - I suggest you skip this "assessment" of your system and not run again.  ;-)

  • Is there a problem with the latest update of Windows for Vista (January 13, 2016).

After installation of 10 updates by restarting, through phase II and restart again my display driver stopped working so there is nothing on the screen. The disc did something for about 20 minutes, but there is no signal on the screen (yellow light instead of green).

I had to do a restore, but Windows guard eager to make the same update, leaving me in the same position with no display.

    What should I do?

    Hello

Microsoft gives sometimes you updates for the 3rd party hardware: graphics, network cards, etc.

You should only get the latest drivers for them to real hardware manufacturer's website, as Microsoft normally does nor those have the most recent drivers available as Microsoft relies of the 3rd party hardware Manufactuer to provide.

But unfortunately, the only way to know which is the update of the problem is to install them one by one, until you find the 'wrong' for your installation.

You can do a system restore to get back until it has been installed (which is NOT the best way to remove an update) or follow this method:

    'Remove an update'

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/remove-an-update

When you have found the issue of update of the list of updates which is presented > then right click on the update problem > select Hide update > and it will not be available to you once again

"How to hide or show an update of Windows Vista"

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/72491-Windows-Update.html

    _____________________________________________

Here's how to change the update settings, if you think it is necessary to:

"Understanding Windows Update and Extras in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/Windows-Vista-updates-and-extras/

    Or the other of these two update settings will give you the chance to see what you want to install through Windows updates;

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

But remember you normally only have problems with hardware 3rd party drivers. Other updates are to improve the Performance and security of your system

    See you soon.

  • Update Windows for Vista - NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS driver errors

Update Vista Home Basic 6002:SP2.  Secunia Personal Software Inspector and MS Security Essentials confirm the system software is updated.

Windows Update optional update for NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS on 4/5 and 4/11.  Updates have been declared as 'Successful' but has caused problems of compatibility with the resolution.  (http://winqual.microsoft.com/support/?driverid=20418057) More details below.

HW - Dell 530 with GeForce 8400 GS with BIOS 62.98.71.0.5 - 512 MB of memory dedicated - 767 MB shared memory.

CRT is detected as driver MS running generic PnP 6.0.6001.18000.  The display is an AMW CM1722PF 17 "CRT with a preferred resolution of the 1024x768x70Hz.  (IIRC, MS drivers for Intel 8031 correctly detected VGA display modes, rather than generic report.)

On both NVIDIA driver update attempts, Windows Update reports the success and I rebooted (despite the lack of obligation to restart).  Display was OK on the screen connection, but limited to 640 x 480 on desktop after login.  Edges of the Office had fallen.

In addition, Panel-> NVIDIA Control Panel translates "the NVIDIA Display Panel Extension cannot be created... Possible reasons include the incorrect version.  Reinstall display drivers can fix this problem. »

After the failure of 4/5, I uninstalled Windows Update display drivers and reinstalled on reboot.  Got the NVIDIA Display Panel and appropriate video modes.  Everything was going well until we repeated this Windows Update NVIDIA driver update fiasco 4/11.

Have not repeated the manual Reinstall driver this time, I'm puzzled why Windows Update can't get this right.    This is a very common piece of hardware and you would think that there is regression tests for driver updates.

This makes me wary of Windows Update.  Suggestions?

  • Cannot step 3 of 3 for Vista updates

I have a number of Vista updates that will not be installed.  A site to help/support windows was a suggestion that you could install manually by going to the Microsoft Vista download site.  So, I chose the 2 most old and manually, and to install several days ago.  In both cases, an error message came back indicating that the updates were for a 64 bit system.  Later that night I turned off the computer and turned it on the next morning.  I got a message saying Setup updated step 1 of 3-0% complete.  This message has been on the computer for several hours before I did a manual close.  Now, when I reboot, the message says configuration updates step 3 of 3-0% complete.  This message will remain on the computer for about 1 minute, after which the system attempts to restart again.  This process continues indefinitely.  I tried to go in 'safe mode', but the same thing happens.  I do not have a startup disk, so may not exercise this option.  Please help - I'm sure that the solution cannot be that hard.  Also, please tell us if there is a way to avoid this situation in the future.

most of the computers I sold recently are affected - ms Ko 949358 describes this well - using repair CD allows you to rename the folder (files) waiting - but - so far, the problem always resurfaced after 2 or 3 days - repair ms KO suggested in the previous KB 937287 update will not - install version wrong system error - now the good news : change of name by using CD repair can be done repeatedly and will copy/backup all files on an external user - using a full system reinstall after a cold start automatic tracking updates (about 100) will produce a system vista stable basic with no missing updates.

    Hello

Welcome to the community of Windows Vista answers.

First of all, we will try if we can start in safe mode.

Safe mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs do not work in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed.

Steps to start your computer in safe mode with networking
    1. to start mode safe mode with networking, restart the computer and press the F8 key for about four to five times. You will see "Safe Mode with network" listed in the advanced options of Windows.

    2. Select "Safe Mode with network" and then press ENTER.

Access the link below for more information on how to start in "Safe Mode with Networking":

  • Update Windows for Vista 32

Windows Update does not work I get no Khvan my router but can connect to the internet

If you still experience the problem of origin after all these steps, you can proceed with your plan to repair or formatting of your system. You will need Windows Setup DVD to repair. Once again, the steps proposed by Martin is composed with graphics, it should help in the realization of this task.

However, if your goal is to make a new installation, you can either use the recovery partition on your system (usually drive D :) or the CD/DVD provided with your PC to install your PC back to factory settings. Depending on the brand of your PC, there are a combination of keys on your keyboard, you will need to press when your computer to restart to activate this recovery option. Also, using the Vista DVD of Installation, you can choose to do a new install instead of repairs. Just keep in mind, you need to reinstall some of the drivers for the devices on your system.
