  • Can't stop "standby" mode. HP Pavilion 2111us-g6. Windows 7 64 bit.

Set up with an ID of administrator and user two identifiers that require a password to connect.

Computer goes into hibernation during the (provided by Cox) McAfee virus scan.  Tried to create the power of scanning only management plan.  Tried to change the recommended power HP plan. Tried scanning in the administrator ID.  In all cases the computer ignores the settings and falls asleep.  Firstly, the screen goes black, then the laptop on the USB LED fan cooler matrices is.  Now, he's asleep.  I hit the button ENTER and the user login screen.  I connect and the scan continues.  The first time it happened I left running the scan and returns a few hours later and the scan was started.  The only way I found to a full scan is by sitting in front of the computer and hitting the key enter every time the screen goes black.  It prevents switch to "standby" mode and the analysis ends in just over an hour.

How can I prevent the computer asleep then the scan will finish without supervision.  I was able to do it on the laptop of HP running Vista that I used five years before it crashed and I replaced it with this one.

  • I have the latest Windows Live Mail 2011, but when standby and locks system, the only way out is to do a complete or end of Windows, restart then go into sleep mode. This never used to happen until Windows 2011 has been upated in my PC.

I forget always at the end of the lIve session of Windows before you put it in standby mode, the PC appears and then lock properly said, in response to anything, so I have to do a reboot complete, very annoying.

Also when working within Windows 2011, if you add a lot of attachments to an e-mail, I have often to do and then send it, the list of attachments disappear off the screen, so when you send you do not know really which was transmitted, horrible situation, so you must include send to yourself, then you can check what has been sent. Stupid!.

How can I get rid of these flaws?

Put the PC into standby mode.  Stuck in the status of "Recovery of Windows".  Impossible to restart.  Power off several times.  F8 doesn't work no more.

I don't think that XP shows a message "Windows Recovery" when it comes out of Stand By.

    It does when it's Hibernation.

If you've been cycling power, you can have damaged your system files a bit and should probably start by running a chkdsk/r from the XP Recovery Console.

  • Windows 8 and/or Surface Pro supports "connected standby mode?

    Hello

I just read that ' a Windows 8.1 feature called connected standby mode, which allows computers to be put into mode 'sleep' and wake up instantly, is available today than in the 32-bit version "is the reason why" first Trail Bay tablets will use only the 32-bit version of Windows 8.1 ".»

But if this is true, don't would then not it means that the Surface Pro running Windows 8 Pro 64 bit is therefore unable to use "connected pending"?

I didn't notice the Surface Pro or the W700 Acer having problems coming out pending, then perhaps 'connected standby mode' is another type of sleep?  Can someone explain to me.  The "instant on" feature (the case of illusion, or for real) is what tablet users and so Windows 8.

Our company has been delaying the replacement of our laptops Windows XP until the release of 2.4 GHz, 64 bit, 8 GB RAM, SSD 256/512, 4 G/LTE Mobile Broadband Bay Trail devices come to market.  As a benchmark, we are looking for a device (/ Ultrabook/Tablet laptop computer) that would be able to effectively deliver business applications, for example Adobe Photoshop, MS Powerpoint.  2 to 4 GB of RAM will not be enough.

It will be Haswell devices without a fan, we have to buy these, even if they are much heavier and have reduced the battery life because it seems that it would not be until 2015 that see us peripheral Bay Trail capable business, see the articles below.

Mobile Atom SoC stay 32-bit at least until 2015
Somewhat surprising is the notion that Intel will keep its Silvermont Atom processor as a 32-bit platform until at least 2014. Customers who need the ability of 64-bit Atom will have to the Centerton Atom-S the microserver-based processor. It is not known if the successor of Silvermont, the 14 nm Airmont, will move to 64-bit

    https://www.NetworkWorld.com/news/2013/091213-Windows-81-tablets-with-64-bit-273770.html

Buyers looking for a tablet with the new Bay Trail Atom from Intel chip and a 64-bit version of Windows 8.1 will have to wait until early next year.

Intel executives said Wednesday the first Trail Bay tablets will use only the 32-bit version of Windows 8.1, despite the support of 64-bit on the chip.

Tablets with OS 32 bit have a limit of 4 GB of DRAM memory, while 64-bit can actually support 512 GB. Most of the first tablets Trail Bay with Windows 8.1 will not more than 4 GB of memory, said Steve Smith, Vice President and Director of development for the tablet at Intel.

"We have the capacity, now it's a matter of when a system of consumption needs, it's probably somewhere in the future, I would say that a few generations away ', said Smith.

The reason is the limitation in the software of Microsoft, said Nathan Brookwood, principal analyst at Insight 64. A feature of Windows 8.1 and wake up instantly, called Eve connected, which allows computers to be put into mode 'sleep' is available now than in the 32-bit version.

Microsoft adds functionality to the 8.1 Windows 64-bit, and it will be available in early 2014.

Intel also does not feel 64-bit is required on consumer shelves, even if he knows what IT managers want 64-bit compatibility on all PCs and mobile devices in the enterprise.

Intel is developing a smart Tablet Trail separate Bay scheduled for 64 bit versions of Windows 8.1, and the processor will be available in the first quarter of next year, said Chris Walker, Director general of tablets at Intel Mobile Communications Group.

2 Surface Pro supports NOT connected to sleep, even if it uses the "Haswell" chip, which supports this mode.

There is a world of difference between standby connected and traditional modes of 'Sleep' and 'put to sleep '. Basically, connected to standby mode, the system really is, but requests are suspended for most. See here for a Microsoft document that gives an introduction connected mode standby.

I don't know why the 2 Surface Pro does not deliver sleep connected; I've seen several data, possible reasons for why this might be true:

    • The 64-bit Windows 8/8.1 version does not support it.
    • It is necessary that the material to be a fanless design (Surface Pro 2A fans).
    • It is necessary for the design to have TPM (Trusted Platform Module) version 2.0 (Surface Pro 2A version 1.2)

Whatever the reason (and it can be one or more of the above), it is disappointing that a product of the so-called phare does not support the feature.

  • X 360 m6-ar004dx ENVY: ENVY x 360 past mode standby mode when it is turned 90 degrees

Hello!  I bought a x 360 want m6-ar004dx recently and so far it has been a decent laptop.  One thing that has been a nuisance, it is that when I put my laptop on the side (rotated 90 °, open lid and not in tablet mode), the laptop into sleep mode after X number of minutes.  Sometimes, the laptop is do not go to standby mode when he's on his side, however, between "standby mode" when I recover my laptop from the above heading.  It seems that the accelerometer is triggering mode 'sleep' when he turned in both directions.  I checked all my Power Options and ensured that the computer will not mode enter "standby" when it is plugged.  Are there settings I can change to fix this?

    Thanks in advance!

    @aviation76

I looked around and after a long search, I found that this could be a simple and, possibly, a funny solution (you'll know what I mean once you're done, read this).

Obviously, your model is based on the power button on the left side and when you flip 90 degrees and lay your computer on this subject is on the left, the power button is pressed and which puts your computer to sleep according to Settings - ' choose what buttons power "

Please check the settings above on power options and change to - 'NOTHING to DO' for this problem.

    Keep me posted, though!

    Kind regards

    This gives a test:

    1. click on START
    2. click on 'run '.
3 type "notepad" (without the quotes) and press enter
    4. copy and paste this into Notepad:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usb]
    "USBBIOSHACKS" = DWORD: 00000000
    "USBBIOSx" = DWORD: 00000000

    5. click on file > save as
    6. change the dropdown to "all files".
7 type usb.reg as the file name and save the file somewhere easy to access
8 go find the file and double click it. Confirm that you want to add it to the registry
9 restart the computer and see if you can wake the system from standby mode

  • L50 - A - 160:USB of power in standby mode satellite is disabled but it STILL works

    Hi all!

    It's my L50-A-160.

USB power standby is disabled in the BIOS but it always on!
    Nothing helps.
As I can not turn off wakes on keyboard events. BIOS 1.30.

Thanks for the advice in advance.

    Hello

You are talking about sleep function & expenses supported by some USB ports?

Be aware that not all media ports USB Sleep & Charge and only marked with a small sign flash USB ports would give such function.
As far as I know on Satellite L50-A-160 only USB 3.0 (on the right side) would support this sleep & Charge USB.

The charge & sleep can be enabled and disabled in windows.
Go to desktop-> Office Assistance (in the task bar)-> utility tools & -> Control Panel

There you should find the different tabs and one of the tabs should have sleep & fresh / tab sleep & music which allows you to set advanced features for the mod, Hibernate standby mode and stop mode.
Simply move the slider to activate or deactivate the function sleep & Charge.

But the sleep & fees may not work with certain external devices even if they are compatible with the USB specification. In this case, turn off the power of the computer on the charging device.

You should also be known that when sleep & cool man of wake-up function is activated USB does not work for the compatible ports.

In addition, there is an option called function in battery Mode. This option can be used to toggle the sleep & Charge in battery mode. It also displays the remaining capacity of the battery.
Simply move the cursor to enable or disable this feature.

By the way: read the user 95 manual page. It would be useful for you.

I recently had my Satellite 1800-314 (Windows XP) re-formatted and now when I close the lid he's going to sleep... the power light flashes orange, when I opened the lid still once, Windows stops and then restarts. I tried to install the Toshiba power settings, defining "when I close the lid, in standby mode", does not.

Have uninstalled then Toshiba power settings and all the settings of ordinary power in the Panel of 'sleep', etc., but it REST did not return to standby mode.
    I'm tired now.
Is there a simple solution that I'm missing?

Grateful in advance for any help!

    Hello

You know it's very important to install drivers in the correct order.
The installation of common modules at the beginning is important because some drivers of Tosh need this application to work properly.
If the energy saver has been installed on the operating system windows power settings will not work.
Toshiba crash parameters the parameters of Microsoft.

In addition, please check your BIOS preinstalled. Compare the version with the BIOS on the page. If your uses of the unit the old version, so try to update.
But be careful. You must use the good BIOS and the right procedure upgrades.
