I tried to install the update system of Lenovo and MSFT Windows Installer Clean Up clean in the hope that the software would help alleviate my problems. See below the link on advice from MSFT on the same error.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/%2Fkb%2F328162

Unfortunately, I cannot even load the previously recommended THAT MSFT software to solve this error.  I also tried to install the software as 'Run as Administrator' and in 'Safe Mode '.  Even if I could not load the software recommended to MSFT, I was able to install iTunes to Apple through Apple Software Update, I guess, that they do not use Windows Installer.

With the new structure of junction there is several files or links to the same folder across file system, if it is a folder authorization number which specific files/links are I need to remove restrictions?

Any help would be appreciated, if not I'll have to do a clean install and individually reinstall each piece of software... Thank you.

I think I found the solution for this point, because I have just encountered the same problem in our environment and here's what I did to solve it:

-Create a higher level permissions at the root of the folder redirection (for example \\servername\mydocredirfolder): grant the Group authenticated users the following permissions and apply it to "this folder only" ALLOW: list folders/read data, reading, reading attributes, read extended attributes, create files / add data

I think the MSI is trying to read the free space on the disk on the server, but it cannot because it tries to access the folder where your my documents redirection is sitting.

    Good luck!

  • Windows Install Error - iCloud for Windows

    Separated from this thread.

I am also having this problem, but it's for the iCloud on iTunes. I get a message saying there is a problem with this Windows package install, a program administered as part of the implementation was not completed as planned Contact your provider of personal support or package. I don't want to have to re install iTunes I might lose all the photos and music I have there. Apple tried to help, but apparently there are a lot of people having this problem and I was told that I have to contact Microsoft because it's the problem. busy bowlers.

I shared your question on the thread where you posted because that wire was quite old and linked to problems with a different application.

Apple's ITunes is a completely separate of the iCloud Apple for Windows program.  Uninstalling iTunes more than likely will have no impact on your current problem, but you should know that uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes NOT you will lose your music or photos.

According to this thread in the Apple support forums, the problem seems to be Apple rather than Microsoft, but it is very common for companies to point the finger toward the other in similar situations.  See https://discussions.apple.com/message/26647924#26647924

I suggest that you try the steps proposed by "droyls" in the above linked thread I have copied below:

Thanks jab336 - I had the same issue but was able to follow your steps on Windows 7 (32 bit) and now have iCloud 4.0 installed outside to not have to do a reboot of the system.

    Measures have been:

    1. login to iCloud.

2 uninstall iCloud - done that using CCleaner

    3. removal of content from C:/Program Files/Common Files/Apple/Internet Services outside of 2 dll Shellxxxx who says were used.

4 Ran Apple Software Update - found iCloud 4.0

5 installed iCloud 4.0 successfully - reboot required.

A major problem with the suggestion of "jab336" above in this thread, it's that I don't know where you can find iCloud 3.1 if you don't already have the installer for it on your computer.  "droyls" seems to have managed to install iCloud 4.0 without installing the older version first.

CCleaner, you can find here--> http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner it is safe to download them and use them, but please do not use the function "registry cleaner".  As with any downloaded program, be sure to read the fine print during installation and uncheck all the options to install toolbars or search engines or similar (you may need to select "Custom Installation" rather than "typical" to see these options).

Finally, it should be noted that, according to Apple, iCloud Drive will not work unless you have upgraded your iPhone/iPod iOS 8, although most other iCloud features work at least with iOS 7.

  • OEM Windows installed on a new system and being told that my key is invalid.

    Product key problem

A year ago, I bought a version of XP SP3 OEM and installed on a computer (clean install).  No problems.  A few months later, I had to wipe the drive and reinstall.  Once again, no problem.  Now I got a new computer, but when I try to install with the same disk (clean install) and the same product key, I like that is not valid.  Some things that are not a factor:

Damaged drive.  The disc is impeccable.
    Error in the Enter key.
Key is not not the disc.
I don't see how something other than the computer, the key and installation disc could play a role.  I hope that Microsoft does not know what I do in my room.  I even traded keyboards, that someone suggested that this could be a factor (speaking with an accent keyboard?).
My next step is to wipe the drive and start over, but I think I'll meet the same problem, because players will be the same.
    Any ideas?

After the activation of Windows XP on the older PC, having to reactivate Windows XP is not so rare that are several hardware changes within a short time, not to mention the motherboard.

Change the motherboard is a reactivation guaranteed event.  Just change all the RAM, PSU, CPU and made it a videocard in a few weeks.  "Activate Windows" more on wikipedia lists the 8 areas checked.

The OEM Windows disk from the manufacturer-, Dell, HP etc. get of course do this even in the BIOS.  Dell OEM Windows on a non Dell motherboard, which I thought would do, would lead to shop for an another Windows Installer.

This is how Windows mysteriously know material changes without connection to Microsoft.com - the BIOS chip.

Beware of sellers on ebay with a still sealed OEM disc, but with a touch of product USED or not.   OEM disc will work as it clearly says right on it:

"Relocation... CD '. Don't use this software to reinstall the operating system on a computer (mfgr)... For distribution only with a new computer (mfgr). »

  • WINDOWS INSTALL ERROR

My computer is new, but its been having some problems lately. Its a Dell Intel Pentium Windows 7 computer. My problem is that when I tried to download microsoft office xp, it doesn't work and now I have this installer of windows coming bar whenever I open a new program or even my computer during its startup routine. More funny thing is is that the Windows Installer bar behaves like a virus and will not disappear on the first click, but rather as the 7 or 8, click on the Cancel button. This problem has prevented me from doing my job now, and I don't know what else to do about it. Also I tried to come back and restore the computer to a point before I had these problems, but the installer of sort of hangs the computer to restore it. Also I tried fix/uninstall the microsoft office xp program, but that no longer works. Help, please.

  • Windows 7 suddenly slow and System Idle process CPU utilization a concern

Almost overnight, my Sony Vaio with Windows 7 (bought in 2010) has worked incredibly slow.  I tried to update the computer with the automatic updates of Windows and the Service Pack 1 could not install many times.  So, I installed the system update readiness tool.  Then I tried to install the SP again and it worked (I was also able to install SP2 and other updates at this point).  But, these downloads and installations took longer than they should have and my computer continues to lag when I'm trying to do something.  Norton AntiVirus found no problem.  I've only used about 20 percent of the memory.  System Idle Process is using high CPU, even when I try to use other programs such as IE and Google Chrome.  The computer fans work diligently as if the computer tries to run, but everything is going so slow that the computer is almost useless.

The computer is almost three years old, but did not have something else installed Norton because I bought the new computer.  It has been used daily for almost three years without problem.  I do a lot but check Windows Live Mail, and then type the documents in Word format - literally that's all; no other programs, games, etc.  However, I have an error code a few months back: 'Not authentic Windows, Build 7600.'  In response to the error, I got my product key and verified the program and to use new Windows 7.
Anyone know why the system idle process continues to consume so much CPU even when I try to open a web browser?  Even when the computer is inactive, the fans are running full speed and the computer becomes warm to the touch.  It seems that no matter what the computer is doing, it is lagging behind and struggling.  Even if I just want to open the start menu, it takes a few seconds for the computer to respond.
    Thank you!

It is not dust but the crapware that you must get rid.  The first suspect is Norton, which is a terrible software that slows down terribly computers.  Get rid of Norton and install Comodo Internet Security instead.  Make sure that when you get rid of the plague of Norton, you get the Norton Removal tool and run twice.  Also, make sure that manually enter you your folder program files and delete all Norton and Symantec files and use a program like Malwarebytes file Assassin to get rid of the persistent process who do not want to delete.

Then use CCleaner (and ONLY CCleaner - do not download or install any other system cleaners or registry mechanic) for cleaning your system and use Revo Uninstaller to remove any extra crapware that is installed on your machine.  Be sure to remove any software from Apple and get rid of all Windows Live software.

Finally, you'll want to disable several Windows processes that eat up RAM unnecessarily.  These include Sync Windows, Windows Defender and Windows Action Center.

Follow all the advice and you should find that your computer is running a lot faster.

  • Windows install 4.5 and SeBackupPrivilege

Windows Installer team blog, I understand that Windows Installer 4.5 was supposed to add the SeBackupPrivilege in the privileges held by the service msiserver (see http://blogs.msdn.com/windows_installer_team/archive/2008/05/01/what-changed-in-windows-installer-4-5.aspx).

I tried upgrading to WI4.5 desktop Vista Enterprise (both 32 - and 64-bit) using the files appropriate for the following link:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5A58B56F-60B6-4412-95B9-54D056D6F9F4&displaylang=en

The upgrade is successful, and once installation is complete, I let the machine to restart.   When I connect again, run msiexec shows the version number as "Windows® Installer. V 4.5.6001.22162 ".

However, the msiserver service doesn't have the SeBackupPrivilege in the RequiredPrivileges list in the registry or when running "sc qprivs msiserver".  When I try to execute a MSI file, we created that uses a custom action delayed requiring this privilege, the installation fails with "a required privilege is not held by the client."  If I change the RequiredPrivileges registry entry and add the SeBackupPrivilege, then restart service msiserver, successor to the installation.

Also, I tried our MSI on Windows 7 with WI5.0, and I see the same behavior I do on Vista with WI4.5.  In other words, I have to manually add the SeBackupPrivilege in the RequiredPrivileges registry entry for msiserver until I can successfully install our package.

Has anyone experience this problem?  Am I missing a step in my process of upgrade to WI4.5?

    Thank you
    Ryan
