  • 9065 ERROR - PROBLEM WITH WINDOWS INSTALL "INITIALIZE LOGGER IS NOT YET CALLED".

CANNOT INSTALL CA 2010, CONTACTED REP AND THEY SAID IT IS THE SETUP OF WINDOWS. BELARC ADVISOR SAYS I HAVE WINDOWS INSTALL VERSION 4.5.6002.18005.  TRIED THE ROAD AUTO, "MICROSOFT FIX IT" FOR AN ERROR 1606 AND IT HAS BEEN IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND MY PRODUCT ID. CANNOT TYPE IN THE PRODUCT ID EITHER.  WHICH LED ME TO DISCUSS WITH YOU NICE PEOPLE.  ANY INPUT WOULD BE APPRECIATED

Here are the instructions to correct the Error 1606 (that occurs quite frequently as I see here often).  It affects Windows Installer before repair.

This problem (Error 1606) occurs because there is incorrect entries in the Shell folder of the user who is logged on to Microsoft Windows. When Windows Installer goes to the sale of Shell folder of the user who is logged on to the computer, Windows Installer cannot locate the correct entry. The solution is in http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/886549.

The steps to correct this problem involve editing the Windows registry.  Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk.  I suggest that you first back up your registry as follows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Back-up-the-registry.

Here are the steps to fix it.

    1. click on start, run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.

    2. look for the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell dossiers\

3 remove the entries that show the path that is listed in the error message.

886549 KB http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/886549: Regedit open again. In the left pane, click User Shell Folders, point to new, click expandable string value, type the value name that you want to restore (AppData) and then press ENTER. Right click on this value, click change, type the value in the value data for the value name box, and then click OK. The value data must be: % USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming.

Step 8 KB 886549 suggests that you also check the values in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders. However, by fixing my problem, I had not to change values in the registry key.  If this does not work, follow ALL the steps in the referenced article.

  • Windows Vista Service Pack 2 causes the message "Windows install will not be accessible".

I am running Windows Vista with all the updates installed but Service Pack 2. I uninstalled Service Pack 2 because it was causing problems with the windows installation service. I was unable to install microsoft office update because the windows installer could not be accessed, and Adobe Acrobat Reader could not be repaired or updated for the same reason.

With installed Service Pack 2, I traveled all troubleshooting for the windows service install. I have a click with the right button on my computer, manage, service and open the properties of windows install. I have activated the service, but still couldn't install the updates Microsoft office or Adobe Acrobat Reader update/repair. I also tried to configure windows install automatic rather than manual when the computer starts.

I had the problem "Windows install is not be available" for nearly a year. After trying to do a repair Vista boot without result, I uninstalled all updates. The problem disappeared. I decided to install the updates one by one. After you have installed Service Pack 2, the problem with windows install returned. The Service Pack installs completely and then open my computer properties indicates that Vista runs with Service Pack 2 installed.

Uninstall Service Pack 2 and blocking automatic updates will not install it was my only solution to the issue of "Windows install is not be accessible". I fear that it may cause a security flaw in my computer, however.

If someone has encountered this problem, and if so, is there a solution to install Service Pack 2 for my windows service install still works correctly?

Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are known to not uninstall (or upgraded) themselves. Composition of such problems, Geek Squad is also infamous for having failed to download/run the Norton removal tool before installing another AV app or security suite! The 'leftovers' Norton may have caused your post-SP2 installation problem.

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. click right on the file saved in #1 above, and then select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    4. open Internet Explorer (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 & run it in DEFAULT and modes difficulty then AGGRESSIVE. [1]

    5. restart & test (i.e. display SP2 & install it again). [2]

TIP: Temporarily disable Sunbelt Vipre Antivirus before installing SP2. If you still encounter problems after installing SP2 again, open a free support by my previous response incident.

    Hi Kathleen,.

    Thanks for joining Microsoft Community.

According to the description provided, looks like you're not able to install updates or programs such as the Windows Installer does not work.

I have a few steps, I should help you solve this problem.

    Method 1:

Try the steps mentioned in this link and check:

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. Method 2:

    Try these steps and check

Let us scan SFC and check if there are any file system corruption.

1 put the Windows XP CD in the CD-ROM.

    2. click on 'Quit' if the auto-menu appears.

    3. click on 'Start', then click on 'run '.

    4. Type "SFC/scannow" (without the quotes) in the "Open" box, then click on 'OK '.

Note: There is a space between "SFC" and "/ Scannow".

The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

More information on SFC scan found in this document:

    Method 3:

Run a virus scanner and check:

Virus is known to cause these problems. Scan your computer for the Microsoft Security Scanner, which allows to get rid of viruses, spyware and software malware.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner expire after 10 days from the date of installation.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

  • Backup Windows install acer aspire 4330

HI, team of Acer, I use Linux (dual-boot) with windows. I would like to remove windows, how do I backup windows install so if something goes wrong, I can just pop in a disc and reinstall windows? If any other information is needed I can provide.

Well, while being in disagreement with your decision, I have found this procedure to create a recovery disc for an Acer laptop. Please keep in mind that the process may vary slightly with different patterns:

To create your recovery backup disks, follow these steps:

    1. Click on the Start menu, and then click all programs.
    2. In the list of programs, click the Acer file, and then click the Acer eRecovery Management .
    3. User account control Windows may request your permission to run this program, click Yes.
    4. In the Acer eRecovery Management window left click backup, and then click create a default disk factory.
Note: If you use a laptop or netbook, you will be asked to connect your power adapter, make sure that the power adapter is plugged in before continuing, and then click OK.
    5. In the page to create a default disc factory select the drive you want to use for burning the recovery media, and then click Start.
    6. The disc is ejected whenever he has completed burning, if several drives are required insert a new disc when you are prompted, and then click OK.

  • Problems of Windows install, Itunes, XP, SP3

When I try to install Itunes, I get the message that there is a problem with the windows package install. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Usually, when I click OK, it will be just to restore the installation & a few minutes later, it will install. Tonight he just told me that Itunes has encountered a problem and could not be installed. I tried many times. I disabled my firewall and antivirus protection (N360). Same result. Under XP, SP3. I also used to get the message across with SP2. My music is 'Skip' while reading, because I'm under the old version of Itunes. Help, please.

Here are the usual directions to perform a "clean installation" of iTunes, based on Support of Apple HT1926 article.

Go to control panel > Add/Remove programs
    Remove these applications:
    1 Apple Software Update
    2. Apple Mobile Device Support
    3 Hello
4 iPod for Windows (this may or may not exist, be it, it is not necessary, then we can remove it)
    5 iTunes
    6 QuickTime

Open my computer > C: > Program Files
    Delete this files (if present)
    1 iPod
    2 iTunes
    3 QuickTime

    Empty your temp directory:
Open my computer > C: > Documents & Settings > username > Local Settings and delete the contents of the folder called "Temp".

If you don't see the local settings, enable hidden files:
Tools > Folder Options > view tab
Select Show Hidden Files & folder, and then click OK

Once this file is empty, restart the computer

[See note above about the cleanup utility]
Download & install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/290301/
Launch the utility: start > programs > Windows Installer Clean Up
Select one of the applications mentioned above and click on remove

    Restart the computer
Download & reinstall iTunes from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

    Gaara_2k6,
Welcome to the responses of the Forums.  The short answer to your questions are Yes and no and no.

Depends on how you format the drive, it will delete everything on the drive.  Now, it may still be recoverable with a software specialist or moving to a data recovery company.

If you formatted your hard drive you would not be able to start to do anything, because there would be nothing on the startup disk.  With the Windows XP CD or with the recovery media provided by the manufacturer of the PC is the only way to reinstall Windows. original title: windows installer install problem 3.1

I use windows vista home with service pack 2 installed. I have a custom made software. Before installing this software, I need to install 4 i.e. cystal reports, dotnet, report viewer and Windows Installer 3. I was able to install the first 3, but the windows installer fails, it is said to be "saturated". I also tried MSI 4.5 but of no use. My software runs well on Windows XP. Can anyone help.

Installation with Windows Vista version is:
    Windows install 4.0
    Version - 4.0.6000.16386
    Released with Windows Vista

Windows Installer 3.0 is released with Windows XP SP2. It was released as a redistributable.

You can download Windows Installer 3.0 Redistributable from the Microsoft downloads site, but it has not been created to run on Windows Vista. It will probably give an error message that you have a newer version installed.  You may need to change the program to look for a different version of Windows Installer.

You may be able to install the software in Compatibility Mode.
If the program is not compatible, then you try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.
    Use the following steps:
    (1) right click on the program
    2) click Properties
    3) click on the Compatibility tab
    (4) select run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista or other operating system, the program has been run successfully.
