  • Windows Installer is corrupt on my Vista computer

Title of the Moose: Windows Installer is corrupt or deleted on my computer. I tried to re-installing/repair Vista SP2 and Windows Installer 4.5 - or will be installed.

Hi Please help... I can't install anything on my "puta.  I can't run a recovery as all my records are stored.  I spent two hours of Microsoft technical support who could not stop talking.  There must be a way I can either crazy, the system to uninstall and reinstall SP2.  Because it's the installer that is affected, nothing else can install or uninstall.

I tried to go into computer and manage and Services but by clicking 'Start' on Windows install would not work because it has lost the thread.

Very grateful for any help that I can not get my work without the program I want to install!

    Cheers, Sara

    Hello Sara Star,.

I suggest that you try to run a SFC/scannow to address all of the corrupted system files?
    Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any violation of the integrity and repair any damaged operating system files.

    Reboot your system.

However, if there are corrupted files, found, most of the time you're going to need your installation CD to repair the files.

If this does not help, you must do an upgrade and repair the installation. If your installation CD is not available, see if you can borrow a Vista CD from a friend to fix it.

Please reply back and let us know if this can help.

    Sincerely,

  • "Error 1719. Able to access the Windows Installer Service"when you install programs.

After spending the last week every night trying to get some software installed (and of course the search for remedies in probably all available forums), I let go and post this request for assistance. But first my story:

I have lived the last week suddenly my Neat Receipts software does not recognize my scanner more. Trying to reinstall the software, I came across the error that Windows Installer could not be started. That's when I started first for solutions. I was surprised how many solutions I found (but more redoubled practically the same thing), but none did it for me. At this point, I was always under the assumption that it is a problem of the Neat Receipts software.

Then after another night of frustration I could not pass my trial version Office 2010 plus a sort of license error. I was a little surprised that the trial version which abruptly ended without giving me the opportunity to enter a license key (I got wrong), but doesn't bother too much because I liked the product and had noticed last week as well as Office 2010 is already officially released and I decided to buy it. After spending about $300 and a successful upload, I tried to install it.

And here my saga continues. First I got the message that I couldn't upgrade my trial version and need to uninstall. Uninstall with the uninstaller routine does not work (windows error message install), but I could uninstall it using the Windows-Install-Clean-Up utility. Now, I can start the installation process, but after being nearly halfway through the installation, I again get the error of Windows install the Windows Installer Service cannot be accessed (Error 1719). It is roughly the same error that I got at the beginning, when I tried to reinstall the software, Neat receipts. So, it seems not to be a misapplication of Neat receipts or Office 2010, but a windows problem.

The frustrating thing however is that after spending all hours searching online for solutions, the only thing I've discovered is that I am in good company (i.e. There are many others have reported the same problem), but none of the solutions work. Just to be safe, do not for get the same Advisor I tried already several times, let me enumerate what I've done so far:

    1. I am logged on as administrator

2 - I started the Windows Installer service

    3 - I ran SCF /sannow (no problems found)

    4. I not saved and re-entered the msiecec with / opt and/regserver. I did so explicitly for BOTH (!) msiexec programs, one in the system32 folder and the one in the sysWOW64 folder

    5. I tried to repair Windows 7 boot from the windows 7 installation DVD and run the option repair (no problem found)

    6. I tried to pass the parameter registry WOW64 (for MSIServer) from 1 to 0 (I found this in one of the suggested solutions) [and later again back to the original value 1]

    7. I tried to 'force' windows to ignore the msiexec for 64 bit (in the system32 folder) by renaming and by identifying the msiexec for 32 bit 9 in the sysWOW64 folder) and update the path regsever C:\Windows\system32\msiexec.exe \V to C:\Windows\syswow64\msiexec.exe \V

8 - I disabled my firewall and antivirus

9 - I did everything above in many variations with reset (both the save option - reboot)

-in fact, I could do things more I can't remember.

Unfortunately a recovery is not an option most, because I guess I tried too many things and my view of the possible return is a point in which my computer was already in place...

I tried to involve as well a representative of Microsoft support explaining my dilemma, but only made e-mail a generic response on this same forum (great customer service!).

While I was actually pretty happy in the last 4 months with my new Windows7 (and thus Office2010), I am now reaching the point where I fell like throwing finally the towel and kiss goodbye to Microsoft. I was seriously considering to move to Apple before decide me in February favor some cheaper hardware to continue with Microsoft and the new Windows7. But this experience not being able to fix my computer after spending nights in the search for solutions and not be able to get support from Microsoft disgusts me.

Now I wonder if there is someone out there who could help me out here...

Of course, the .msi applies only to installers .msi, which was my mistake for which I apologize.  Regarding a clean installation, the fact remains that you have faced this anomaly for several days, a clean install, despite the pain, would be a distant memory now.  This is my personal opinion, not Microsoft, they me disavowed a long time ago, in all cases MVPS have nothing to do with Microsoft, although the price is published by Microsoft, it is awarded for the caregiver, or in this case try to help others.  It is good that I can at least allow you to vent, it's better out there that maintenus kept bottled upward, no matter how hard it seems to fix the problem, it will be resolved in your favor by subsequently, one way or the other.

In pursuing the side of permissions of things you can try that if you wish.

This example may or may not work for you, with your program?

"It seems that the"Run as Administrator"command gives you administrative privileges only, and they are not enough to install Java (and OpenOffice, by association). To work around this problem, you must actually connect to an administrator. Open a command prompt with admin rights by clicking Start, type cmd in the search/run box, hit CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER. At the prompt, type:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes

Then disconnect from your regular account and record as an administrator, you should be able to install the program. When you are finished, open a session to your regular account and, for security reasons, disabling the account administrator for assistance:

    «net user administrator / active: No.»

  • Windows Installer / Installshield corrupted on W2k3?

    Greetings,

At a customer's site is a Windows Server 2003 R2, without Active Directory box, mostly as a file server for the workstations with the exception of multi-user 2011 Peachtree, which is accessible by three remote users that RDP to the server and not always at the same time.

The customer asked us to step of the updated 2011 of Peachtree with Sage 50 Premium 2013, but the Suppression 'applications', the program seems to have stopped progressing.  We have finished the process of facility after thirty minutes, restarted the server and called technical support for Sage.  They suspected a bad CD, so we sent to the download.  Same thing.  This time we tried to uninstall Peachtree 2011 before installing Sage 50, only to receive a "Error 1628'.  Research on this error led us to clear the registry entries that indicate a current installation to run.  Yet once the server has rebooted.  We called Sage back support - they suspected that the Installshield engine was damaged, but was beyond their ability to support.

Installation of sage 50 remained suspended at the same stage, Peachtree 2011 would not uninstall, so I tried to clean it with Revo Uninstaller, remove two entries of the program using MSI cleanup and rebuild the engine Installshield version 10.5 - the Sage 50 uses during the installation.  Even the repair of Installshield utility hung during installation.

Does anyone have suggestions on reclamation a failed database of Windows Installer or Installshield engine, so sloppy that even the tools to fix do not work?

    Hello

19 code means there is a driver conflict such as two devices attempt to use the same resources.

Please make all below even if you have done some before as it is often the set of operations which solves
    the question.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Normally the above will solve this problem otherwise working your way down through them, even if you did
    them before.

  • Windows Installer inaccessible folder + add/remove programs hangs

    Hello

Today, I had some problems with Mozilla Firefox. After a while it hung and I had to hard-reboot of my computer.
After research and virus problems, it seemed that the %WINDIR%\Installer folder was not accessible. My system hung up when I tried to open the folder (and when Windows read this content to view details).
I then opened the Add/Remove Programs page, which hung in the same way.
I have no problems installing programs (I first tried to update to Firefox, which caused no problem).

System requirements: Windows Vista Home Premium, SP1.

Currently, my computer works fine, but probably it crashes again at the opening of this file.

  • 8.1 Windows installation deletes all my desktop programs?

I have Windows 8 running fine on the desktop. I assumed that if I "upgraded" to Windows 8.1 it will remove all my programs 80 or this office, I have to reinstall all of them?

If this is the case, I now see NO reason to change to 8.1. Start directly on the desktop is a minor advantage, but we can do anyway with a tap if we move the desktop icon to the left upper corner of the screen of Metro or if we run Explorer on startup in Task Scheduler. I really wish MS would work out that 98% of people who use their computer for work hate the Metro screen and its almost unnecessary applications. If they don't work it out at the time wherever they release 9, they will have lost a lot of us permanently.

Updated 17 Dec: based on the advice of Andrew, I have installed 8.1 to 8.0 on one of our three machines of Windows 8. All office programs have been preserved. So the message to MS must be that if they can do this with 8.1, how come it is not possible with Refresh or restore of Windows 8? If Recimg is supposed to cool off without destroying programs. THANK YOU ANDRE
22 Feb: in January, I improved the other two machines. All programs of office remains functional.

But beware: transition of the preview to GTR seems to remove all programs and apps as stakeholders in this and other threads have noted.
