  2. did you of recent changes on the system?

  3. you receive the error message when download or install Flash player?

  If you run the installation files, you can try using administrator privileges and check if that helps:

  Right click on the program installation files and then click run as administrator.

  Remove the .mdlp of file name, so that it ends just .dmg.

  We are seeing this behavior with users who have installed of MathLab and we look at why this is happening.  FWIW, this happens to other software THAT DMG files as well, not only the installer of Flash Player.  For some reason when users have installed, MathLab when the DMG file is downloaded, it adds the extension .mdlp for her.  When users try to run it, rather than open with DiskImageMounter, which is what OS X uses to open DMG files, it opens using MATLAB and the result is what you posted.  In this case in the future, simply remove ".mdlp" from the file name and DiskImageMounter will open the DMG, instead of Matlab.

  Flash Player is integrated in Windows 8 and cannot be downloaded and is updated via Windows Update. In modern IE10 Flash Player only works on sites previously approved by Microsoft. All sites Flash Player play as expected in IE10 Desktop. Java works in IE10 Desktop. Hope this helps and if you need another post to help and we will be happy to help you.

  This Service Pack, if any, you have installed on your XP system?

  If you have not installed Service Pack 3, you will need to install it, at least for setup work. Latest Flash Player installers are signed using SHA-256 signature certificates.  Older versions of XP don't support SHA - 256.  The link I posted previous provides more information on this.

  The browsers Google Chrome and chrome are two different browsers.  Google Chrome integrates the Flash Player.  Google incorporates no Flash Player in chrome.  Therefore, you need to install the PPAPI Flash Player plugin for chrome.

I remembered that I had to close Chrome so that Flash start running.   Flash player is bundled with google chrome and you cannot update or reinstall again outside of google chrome. To get the latest version of Flash player for chrome, you must update your google chrome. The current version is 17.0.0.169 and you can check your existing version by visiting the Flash Player Help link and click check now. And if your flash is still stuck on the last version of 17.0.0.169 in Chrome, well want to file a bug in https://bugbase.adobe.com/ with all possible details.

  The Setup file you use must be the installation of a flash drive for any other browser, but not for google chrome.

  Even if you are a 64-bit machine 8 default IE should be 32-bit version.  This is the version that runs on 64-bit computers by default.  If you use this version, then the problems will disappear.  As previously reported Adobe are still working on a version of Flash for 64 - bit.
