Windows livemail erase incoming mail

When I opened the e-mail the morning he told me I have 4 new messages and there are 4 unopened messages but in a few seconds the 2 or 3 of them just disappear.  Not deleted and no unwanted files.  Where did go and how can I get back them?

What type of account is it?

When this happens to people with an account Hotmail-type (one with an Inbox to http://mail.live.com), it is often because they have set up a message rule to keep only the last message from a particular sender or something similar.

Another cause is accessing the same mailbox from a mobile device that indicates the account to delete messages from the server after download.

Or one of those scenarios seems likely?
