Windows Mail crashes

My Windows Mail crashes and I am unable to find a cause. I am running Vista, edition Home premium 32-bit with the usual assortment of software. Kind of, I suspect as Plaxo not being not a good choice but do not want to lose the bennies. My ISP is Comcast and I use Chrome as a browser. Too many problems with IE. I tried to download IE 9 a few times and it has messed up things considerably. I just wish that MS had a package easy to use that I could count on, but right now, forget about it.

Try to compact and repair the database of WinMail (see www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/).  Then see if it works very well.  If not, then find interference antivirus (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3) and also see point 15 on this page re IE9.

My Windows mail crashes whenever I hear from Facebook. Any ideas? Thank you!

E-mails from Facebook are built a little differently than most, and they can sometimes do this, because they go outside certain standards.  What you can try to do if this happens a lot is go in tools | Options | Read and check to read all messages in plain text only and then open the message from Facebook.  Or you can try doubleclicking top to open it in a window without displaying in the preview pane, and that could keep him under lock and key.

You could also try compact and repair the database in the case of the question is also linked data (see www.oehelp.com/WMUTil/).

  • Windows Mail crashed an email from opening, and whenever I restart it blocks trying to open the same mail

A friend sent an email with a link to a newspaper article and a link to the newspaper article. Windows mail just froze (crash?) tries to open the one piece - so I had to stop with the Task Manager. Whenever I try to open Windows mail, because it sucks in all my messages from my email account, and he hangs up evry time I try to delete the one that causes the program to hang the hanging, so I'm not able to see any mail at all. I use IE to see mail now, but Windows Mail intercepted others and archived email!

    Hello

I suggest you perform a clean boot in order to check whether a third-party program or service is the cause of the problem.

  • Flash Drive causes Windows Mail Crash when send link by E-mail is selected in Internet Explorer

I am running Vista Home Premium 64-bit on an HP Pavilion laptop and a curious problem.

When I have a flash drive into a usb port and when using Internet Explorer 8, click "send link by e-mail", I crash Windows Mail... the usual error message "stopped working" and "restart".

I don't have this problem in any other circumstance.

If anyone has any ideas on this, I'd be fascinated for feedback.

    Thank you!

    Hi Petergoode,

    A. Since when do you use this question?

    B. recent changes made on your computer?

    C. This only happens with this flash drive?

    D. is - what happens on the other computer also?

    Try the methods below.

Method 1:  Check your drive for errors

Follow the steps in the article. Choose the Flash DRIVE instead of the hard drive.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/check-your-hard-disk-for-errors

Important: When running chkdsk on the drive hard if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area so all available data on this risk to be lost

If the problem persists, you may back up your data and format the flash drive, and check the status.

    Method 2: new user account

    1. Open a user account by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click user accounts and family safety (or by clicking on user accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clicking user accounts.
    2. Click Manage another account. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    3. Click create a new account.
    4. Type the name that you want to assign to the user account, click an account type, and then click create an account.

    Hi aptag,

    Welcome to Microsoft answers forums!

This happens with all applications or just to windows mail?

Scan e-mail, scans one email when opened for display. If there is no problem with the anti-virus software (windows mail) application may stop working.

I suggest you try the following steps

Step 1:  Disable the security software, and then do a test.

Note: Activate security software once the test is completed.

If you have several security software installed on the computer, consider uninstalling one that is rarely used.

Step 2: Put the computer in a clean boot (namely if any third-party software hinders the process)

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135 ---> how to solve a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Check with step 1 (run a clean boot):-If everything works well after a clean boot, you can deduce that some third-party services are at the origin of the problem.

Continue with the remaining steps to pin-point on the third party service.

Note: after find you the problem causing the program, you will have to perhaps to update or install a newer version of the program and also don't forget to put the computer to a normal startup (step 7 in the link).

  • Windows Mail - restore/recovery process

Certainly appreciate your help. Yesterday my windows mail crashed; I'm in a no-nwtworked stand-alone environment running Windows Mail Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 OS v6.

Is there a way to recover/restore messages and folders?

This new problem has several solutions.

    ·        Do a startup repair, boot from the disk Installation of Windows Vista genuine (or one that you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc.  Here is the procedure: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html.  You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD.

If this does not resolve the problem, try the following:

To run the Bootrec.exe tool, you must start Windows RE. To do this, follow these steps (you need an Installation of Vista disc for it - not a diisk recovery):

    1. put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.

    2. press a key when you are prompted.

    3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.

    4. click on repair your computer.

    5. click on the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.

    6. in the System Recovery Options dialog box, click command prompt.

    7. type Bootrec.exe, and then press ENTER.

Note If rebuilding the BCD does not resolve the startup problem, you can export and delete the BCD, and then run this option again. In doing so, you ensure that the BCD is completely rebuilt. To do this, type the following commands at the command prompt Windows RE:

    ·        bcdedit/export C:\BCD_Backup

    ·        c:

    ·        Boot CD

    ·        BCD attrib s h - r

    ·        Ren c:\boot\bcd BCD.old

    ·        Bootrec /RebuildBcd

If you do not have the disc or it does not work, try EasyBCE at http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1 and see which allows to solve the ptoblem.

If this does not work, try http://www.nirmaltv.com/2008/05/09/modify-boot-manager-in-vista-with-vistabootpro/ and see if you can fix the problem with this free software.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

  • Windows Mail stops in the middle of the composition of an e-mail message

We run Windows Mail on our Dell laptop with a Windows Vista 64-bit operating system. Several times recentlly, while composing a note of e-mail of the confectioners, the Windows Mail client inexplicably died. The only way to recover is to press the power button twice. The system returns to the account login on the home page, the message is lost and you must retype the message.

    Hello FHDuffer,

    ·         Only the Windows Mail fails when you try to attach files to email?

    ·         It just freezes or it crashes with an error message?

    ·         What is the antivirus installed on your computer protection software?

If it stops with an error, I suggest you check event viewer entries to find the defective module that could be causing the Windows mail crashing.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/open-Event-Viewer

You can see the link which will help you analyze the entries below Event Viewer:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-information-appears-in-event-logs-Event-Viewer

You can also try to configure a new e-mail account on Windows mail and check if it crashes that the question could be linked to the corrupted e-mail account.

Also try to disable the antivirus software on your computer and check if it works.

Note: Please make sure that you enable the antivirus software after the test to keep your computer protected.
