Windows Mail - deleting messages

In Windows Mail, when you try to permanently delete the messages a lot of box removed, some deleted but the remains now say 'message cannot be displayed"and it is then impossible to open or delete them.  Can anyone help?

Thanks for the help but, unfortunately, none of these worked.

* If you are not familiar with setting up an e-mail account, make sure you have all your account settings copied to a sheet of paper.

Open Windows mail > Tools > Options > account > click on your account > DELETE.

Reset

Open Windows Mail > Tools > Options > accounts > ADD > re - enter your account settings.

Which will work?

  • Windows Mail deletes random older messages

Hi, I just switched from outlook express to windows live mail and have had no problems with it, until this:

I noticed twice already, close to half of my emails (in my hotmail account), everything, randomly missing since the oldest in my Inbox.  I couldn't find any setting for this under the account properties, and I don't know what else could be wrong.

It is not a matter of show/hide messages because I've seen discussed here... I checked for it.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you

I found what my problem was.  It was actually the Mac mail client that I was running on my work computer.  I dug through the settings and found that there is only a box checked that says something like "delete messages from the server after 7 days have recovered."

I am familiar with mac mail but realize that I probably should imagine cela first place.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

  • Windows Mail deletes any e-mail as soon as it is read and closed

A few days ago Windows Mail suddenly started to delete all e-mails as soon as I read and closed.  He has also instantly deleted previously read all mails.  These emails are not visible in the elements deleted - they disappeared completely.

This problem is only happening in my account (I am the computer administrator) - user account of my wife is not affected.  I can't find any setting that could be the cause.

    Can anyone help?

A final servile apology - I found the cause of the problem.  In the view-> current view option, the setting had somehow changed to show all Messages to hide Read Messages.  When I reset, all of my emails 'disappeared' reappeared.  I don't know how it happened, because it is not an option that I knowingly consulted before (I just found today).

Thank you for your efforts - I regret that they were not necessary.

  • Windows Mail - creating message rules

    Hello:

I created a folder named Gmail in my Windows Mail. I want to have my Gmail sent to my Windows mail. I was able to do this and now I can get my Gmail in Windows Mail in the folder I created.

(In Windows Mail, create a new folder and then set Message rules to send any Gmail email in this folder)

However, I don't have an Inbox, Outlbox, sent and deleted special folders like I do for my default e-mail account. I can create them, but they are not "attached" to the folder of Gmail at all and do not present as it would in the folder by default 'sent' or 'delete '. An e-mail sent from the Gmail account in my default "sent" folder will not display the Gmail folder. The Gmail folder only shows incoming emails.

Any ideas how to do this?

    Thank you-

    Hello

Gmail created, such as POP3 (or any POP account) is that you described, however you can use RULES to send
message to the folder you want. If you set as IMAP, then your file would be active in under the account
main folder and if you change online or in your e-mail client, they will be synchronized. However in IMAP you
cannot apply the RULES in your email client if you could use similar on webmail IF they are available. There may be
3rd party utilities for use RULES for IMAP.

You can mix and thus have pop3 and imap accounts. Here are some examples if you use Google - other
e-mail providers have probably similar at least Pop3 if some are only web based.

  • Windows mail Inbox messages disappeared

I have a friend who has vista business os and is using windows mail. She lost him all the messages in his Inbox. There is here an Inbox, but there only the most recent messages. no idea as to what happened to the other messages? some of them were quite important, and that is why it does not delete them. where could they have? I do not use windows mail, I use outlook express and I'm not sure what to tell him to do.
Thanks for any help... sue city sioux

If she is using an Anti Virus application, disable or uninstall the e-mail scanner, it is probably the cause.  Windows Mail is extremely sensitive to the scanners by email and mail that disappears is a common symptom of a missing thug of e-mail scanner.

    Hello
I'm so frustrated, this problem has arisen at a very bad time!

I started to use Windows Mail a few months ago and have had no problems so far, since Thursday night, every time that I attach a file to an e-mail message when I click on send this message 'some files was not found and could not be attached to the message. You want to send the message anyway? "I am running Windows Vista Home Basic Edition.

    Hello

    Method 1:
You can perform the steps of troubleshooting from the link:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/troubleshoot-problems-with-Windows-Mail

    Method 2:
You can check if the default e-mail program is selected, follow the steps to do this:
    a. go to: Control Panel and go to default programs. Select Configure programs and Computer Defaults b. Select continues if the permissions window will appear
    c. left, double-click Custom, under Choose a default e-mail program, select Windows Mail.
    d. click Ok and close.

    Method 3:
If none of the above steps are useful, then try to perform the system restore to the date when it was working fine.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-is-system-restore

NOTE: System Restore does not affect personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos, so it cannot help you restore a deleted file. If you have backups of your files, you can restore files from a backup.

    Method 4:
If the file you are trying to download is opened, then it will not download, you can close the file completely and then try to download.

There are few options that you might want to try to solve the problem.

Reset Windows Mail, wait for it to complete the recovery process
    Go to Tools Options-->
On the Advanced tab, click Maintenance
Click the clear now button and click Reset
In addition, check the box where it says compact the database..., give the number 1.
    Close and restart Windows Mail
Go back and check the option Compact back to about 50 races.

  • Windows Mail deleted folder

I tried to delete the contents of my deleted file.  It indicates that it is elements in there that can not be deleted.  It has 160 items in the folder.  When I open the file there is not any content here.  I tried to delete it by deleting again, it will not always remove the folder.  The when I delete a new message and go look in the deleted file, nothing is there, but the number on outside of the folder of the increases.  Any help.

    Hello AFink2,

Look at the tutorial for Windows Mail to the following address: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/62560-windows-mail-problems.html

By Steve Cochran in another forum:
You can try tools | Options | Advanced | Maintenance | Store the folder to find the location of the message store.
Then move everything under this Windows Mail directory to another directory.
Then, restart WinMail and it will open fresh with nothing in the database.
You can then add your accounts and if they work properly, then you can use file | Import | Messages and choose the WinMail format and
point to the directory to which you have moved the files.

Please reply back and let us know if this can help.
