Win XP / Word 2000 for Win 7 / Word2010 transfer

Hello everyone, I have a list of things on a diskette, 93 KB in size. My previous (8100?) Dimension running XP Home Edition, the MS Word 2000 using the extension. doc. My 2010 Studio XPS 8100 running the version of Home Premium 64 - bit Win 7. even if I bought an external drive of FD, what kind of problems if I meet trying to copy the data from the FD in a My Documents folder in my Win 7?  Wouldn't be easier just to retype the data into a new document in Word 2010? Thanks for any info in advance. USOutpost 31

You should have no problem, once you get them off the floppy using the old computer. Copy it to a USB stick and transfer them to the new computer documents folder.

Word 2010 open them without problem. More recent versions of Microsoft Office are designed with a strong focus backward compatibility in mind, otherwise it would deter all users desktop to upgrade to the latest version of Office.

When opened in Word 2010 you can convert .docx if you want or continue to work with them on the old format. doc.

But the fact is if pretty old Office 2000 runs on Windows 7. Maybe it works I put t know, but you can install it and send a comment here. It might be interesting for other users too! ;)

  • Word 2000 does not

Microsoft Word does not when you use the Windows Vista operating system.

After searching the forums, I tried to solve the problem.  I reloaded office.  I've run TWO classified by support service options:
    Reinstall or repair Office

This procedure detects and repairs problems associated with the Microsoft programs installed Office, such as the registry settings and the installation files missing. This procedure does not repair personal files, such as worksheets or of models.
You can run Detect and repair using one of the following methods.

    Method 1

    1. in the menu helps in any Office program, click detect and repair.

    2 click Start.
To restore the shortcuts to programs in the Windows Start menu, make sure that the Restore my shortcuts by repairing check box is selected.

    Method 2

1 double-click on Add/Remove Programs in control Panel.

    2. double-click the Office 2000 entry listed in the Add/Remove Programs dialog box.

    3. click on Repair Office.

4 click Reinstall Office or repair in the Office installation errorsand then click Finish.
None of those attempts fixed the problem.
Excel, PowerPoint, etc all work fine.  My workstation with Windows XP works fine.  But the attempt to load of Office on my computer with Vista Home Premium version 6.0 Build 6001 SP 1 is where I'm having the problem.

Word loads without the menu bar on top, just a white sheet.  If I try to open a document existing or trying to create a new.  And it does not.

Please let know us if there are other steps I can take to address the issue.
IS THERE A SERVICE PACK DOWNLOAD AVAILABLE FOR THIS IN ORDER TO ALLOW COMPATIBILITY?
    Thank you!

  • Instructions for using Windows Easy Transfer from Vista computer to a new Windows 7 computer.

I bought a new computer today that works under Windows 7. The old computer is running Windows Vista 32 bi my new computer is a 64-bit Windows 7 computer. So dumb I didn't find instructions for using Windows Easy Transfer to transfer my files from the old computer to the new. I already have a USB data transfer cable and the disk that came with it does not work with Win 7 However with Windows Easy Transfer that wouldn't do not necessary anyway. So my need for Instructions bo accomplich the task.

I gathered al records original program that I need to install the necessary programs on the new computer.

Any help or URL available covering my needs transfer will be much appreciated.

Remails a question. My venus of cable data transfer with a disc Intelemover with Windows Easy Transfer is that the disc is no longer necessary with WET?

It has nothing to do with Windows Easy Transfer (Intellimover that is).

You can probably use the cable - if you wish.  I prefer to use a large external USB drive or share network - this way, that I have a copy of all that I could move to multiple computers or almost as a backup at low cost.
