My music files have changed in wma format in windows media player, and now my mp3 player won't play them.  can anyone help please.

    original title: Media Player

Download and install WMA to MP3 Converter, then install it, you can get it here... http://www.WMA-MP3.org/

Then select all the WMA files you want to convert, and then convert them to the MP3 Format.
The reason why they are WMA is because when you ripped the files on the disc to your pc, by default, Windows Media Player is configured to save in the Windows Media Audio (WMA) Format.
This default can be changed by opening Media Player and click on Tools > Options
Then select the Rip music tab
Format: select MP3 from the drop-down list.
    Click apply and OK.
Now the next time you rip a CD on your drive hard it will be automatically saved as an MP3 file.
  • Windows Media Player error on the MP3 it burned

I have read many responses to this question but have not yet found a solution. SITUATION: I make a list of songs [MP3] and make sure that it is a burn list. I keep pressing "start burn." Screen then pop in to say, ' Windows Media Player cannot burn some files. To investigate the problem, click on the icon next to the selection to burn the files. "After some research, I found the error icons in a list in the left panel under" blank CD (: D) "." I found that there are 3 songs with errors, all MP3s unprotected as the rest of the files. Could someone tell me please how to fix these songs so I can burn the entire CD?

P.S. The convenience store "not found etc and Burning CD" said there is no problem.

I also read that my computer may have lost a 'codec' (as I was already able to burn CDs without problem).

    Thank you

You burn data (with mp3) disc or a disc of music?

If the first case, use this freeware instead of WMP:

    http://CDBurnerXP.se/?lang=en

If you expect WMP to transform files in a disc of music so I would convert it them before burning (there are converters free mp3 in WAV on the web).

Not a complete solution, but if I were you I would give up WMP to burn it ALL up and we CDBurner XP as its much more flexible.

If you remove a Codec, the easiest thing is to install one of the free Codec pack available on the net.

    See you soon,.

  • Windows Media Player does not download mp3s? Help!

My Windows Media Player won't let me download mp3s more? He always says, "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file. For any additional help, click Help on the Web. "Websites, I am using have ALWAYS worked for Windows Media Player... now all of a sudden, they don't work on any computer in the House. WHY is this happening, and how I go about solving this problem? "Web Help" did not help.

I use Windows Media Player 11. I did the "Check for Updates" and he said that I have all the updates. Is there a WMP update version that I could download? It is maybe just out of date? Bonnefoi! Aggravating circumstances.

    Hello

    1. what site you're talking about?

    2. DON'T you get the same error message when you play music on Windows media player?

Given that the same problem has happened on all computers, it could be a problem with the site itself.

  • Windows Media Player does not recognize MP3 player

I have 2 MP3 players; Version Windows Media Player 11 (WMP11) cannot "see" them: a Sansa Fuze (4 GB) and a Sansa e260 (4GB).  I have updated the firmware on both devices in MSC mode.  I * can * see these devices via 'my computer', they appear as drive F (and a mysterious car 'g' also appears when I plug devices!)  My Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop runs Windows vista, and all Microsoft updates have been executed. How do I get WMP11 to see my devices and allow me to manipulate files and sync?

    Hi McTia,

    (a) if it works well before? Remember to make changes to the settings of the windows media player?

    (b) how you try to synchronize the items to your devices with windows media player? Automatic or manual method

Follow the steps mentioned in the link to manually synchronize items in windows media player and let us know if it helps

If you connect two MP3 players, there are two disks with drive letters different (probably F and G depending on your hard drive partition).

You can check if the MP3 devices works fine on another computer.

  • Windows Media Player will not play mp3 or mp4, but Windows and YouTube work OK

When I go to a media file (.mp3 or .mp4) and click on it, I get a message
Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file.

By clicking [help] and follow the signs, I see that my computer has two devices in the "Sound, video and game controllers" section, both have the status "this device works correctly.

I get Windows sounds normally (startup, etc.). Can I play a clip from YouTube and videos that I prepared myself with Camtasia.  However the same video will not play when I click the .mp4 and Windows selects the default Windows Media Player program.

    How can I fix it?

    Thank you, Robert.

    Hi Robert,

It looks like .mp4 files are not supported by Windows Media Player.

Video MPEG-4 can be encoded and stored in an .asf file container by using the tools of Windows Media and Windows Media Encoder. You can then read these files with Windows Media Player. For more information about Microsoft and MPEG-4 support, visit the Microsoft Web site at the following address:

You can search your favorite engine and download and install the codec that is compatible with the operating system.

  • Windows Media Player won't play mp3 or dvd. All sounds are delayed, but nothing wrong with the codecs or sound card, help?

I have the beginning of a vast music library and an already huge dvd collection, that I enjoy out on the road; But recently, WMPlayer began to refuse to play my mp3 and dvd. In addition, all my system sounds are very late, and none of my games have all the sounds either.

I did my regular (think I cannot think and aim to do by shooters of boredom) and tested and updated everything that would update, including trying to reinstall my codecs, and nothing works, nothing shows as bad, but that they will not play again. The only thing I have not tried for MP3, becomes a non-Microsoft player to wipe the ID3 headers, because how would have on my dvd, games and system sounds?

Need help. Please, I beg you. Music is my only consolation that I drive 9 hours per day every day.

Download and install mp3Tag. If your mp3 tags are corrupt in some way, you can re-do using this tool.

To help you, it can also tag batch (for things like album art, title of the album, artist, etc.)
It won't affect any DVD, they are a different format.
In addition, run your antivirus and download then run Malwarebytes Anti Malware.

    ========================================
During extraction of a CD with Windows Media Player, you can
Choose MP3, WMA or WAV, but I don't think that WMP can
make a simple conversion from one format to another.

Based on your description I think that would be a solution
be all that convert you files to WMA.

There are to many converters available on the net...
Some are free - some details... the following freeware
    is but one example. :

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

may be a few items you want to unmark *)

When you have installed Freemake... Open Freemake
and drag and drop your files music on the main screen.

Or... Click left on the Audio button, then navigate to the
your audio files are saved in the folder.

Select (highlight) the files you want to import into
Freemake and left, click on the button 'open '.

When your music files are imported into Freemake,
On the left, click on the WMA icon at the bottom of the screen.

The "Output settings" screen opens.  Choose
' Save in ' file so you can find the converted files.

On the left, click the "Convert" button and the files must be
    converted very quickly.

    That should do it...

  • Invisible MP3 files in Windows Media Player

After a registry cleanup, I ended up in a strange situation. Windows Media Player 11 will play MP3 very well, if I double click on an MP3 file in Windows Explorer to the media player will start and play the file.

If however in Media Player, I open a file I don't see any MP3 file, if the file type is defined for media files (all types). In the drop-down menu, I don't see a type of MP3 file. If I select all the MP3s files are displayed and can be read.

Where and how can I reset the media player will identify the types of media?

    Thanks in advance!

    OK, I found the problem!

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Extensions the following is missing:

    In the Descriptions:

1 file REG_SZ Audio (*.wav; *.snd; *.au; *.aif; *.aifc; *.aiff; *.wma; *.mp3)

    In MUIDescriptions:

    1 REG_EXPAND_SZ @%SystemRoot%\system32\unregmp2.exe,-9995

    In Types:

1 REG_SZ *.wav; *.snd; *.au; *.AIF; *.aifc; *.AIFF; *.WMA; *.MP3

I found these comparing entries to those for the 32-bit version of media player. After that I added these entries media player launched recognizing MP3s again!

  • Windows media player - "you need to update DirectX version 8.1 or higher" when you try to convert WMA files to MP3 with Jodix files

My nephew has recently tried to convert wma into mp3 files so I could put on my mp3 player. He used Jodix and everything seems to be going as planned until we try to get the songs from Windows Media Player. A message: you need to update DirectX version 8.1 or higher. Well, I tried to download from Windows and got a message saying that I already have the latest version of DirectX. So back to Jodix and found another message that says: I may need to update Windows Media Player to version 7.1 or later version. Only, I don't know what version I have (sorry, I can't find the information). And I don't even know what to do if I found the info. Really, I just want to make my purchases from Wal-Mart (purchased several years as wma) to play on my mp3 player. Can someone help me? I would like your advice. Thank you!

  • How to convert wma and wav, mp4 files and what not not mp3 with Windows media player?

    * Original title: music questions

Music has become a huge problem for me.   My car CD player only supports mp3 format.  I wish I could burn my CD from which I get used various locations, so that I can play in my car. Or convert files I have, which are not in mp3 format.  I played the same CD in my car for years.  It's a little sad.  And convert mp3 no mp3 files, so I can play them in my car, because I don't have a player other than Windows media player and speakers belong good markets.   How to convert files to wma and wav and mp4 and what not in mp3?

Music is expensive nowadays and the multiple formats and thus loss of music bought and in the cloud, or itunes 'cannot locate the source' will not play, and when devices in the event of a failure or who are upgraded drives me crazy.  I have more music in my life and I wish that we would go back to portable music as CD.

I usually use Windows Media player to RIP CD, that I find at thrift stores.   I have my brother gave me, on the PC that is in all sorts of types of music files.  I found a job online converter and it is, according to me, so thank you guys for suggesting that.  Have tried 3 different ones and finally found one that works in the last one.  I think my brain might need a bit of adjustment, of our days, (won't tell you music I have on CD, would seriously date), no kidding, but probably my PC could also use the setting.   I also have itunes for Windows, but have hardly used it.

  • Distinct mp3 and wma formats in windows media player

During my first installation of windows 7 it separated albums of mp3 and wma while they were not mixed I accidentally changed that... How to return to the way it was?  There seems to be no option more whenever they come out with a new media player, I am very frustrated...  Here's what happened I put music on my iphone of course it converted my mp3 songs, the problem is that it has doubled everything...  I saw that 1 song was separated from the rest of the songs on an album because it was a wma and others were mp3 (I still to this day don't know how it happened), I was going through the removal of all duplicate albums which were to WMA...  I tried to put the song I mentioned comes back with the rest of the songs on this album and multimedia reader told me it separates music by file type but I can do anyway, from here all merges duplicate albums so I have a ton of songs repeated on my computer, it cleaning in this way is very time consuming so I like it to separate the songs as before , but I can't go back to the way it was and I can't find answers on the web...

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers Site.

In Windows Media Player 12, it is not an option to remove duplicate files, although the media files can be manually changed. You can also view the link below with a similar problem:
