Windows media player is corrupt or configuration settings may be unsettled

My windows media player suddenly started acting weird (slow ripping time; doubling and tripling occasionally, content CD for example library). On troubleshooting, I repeatedly get two messages: 1) library is corrupted. (2) configuration settings can be setincorrectly. I get no additional guidance where to go/how to fix and I keep going round in circles with the troubleshooting packs. any ideas. I only used it for audio so far

I have tried many suggestions for an error where Windows Media Player (WMP) would not play any music or video files after a reinstall of Windows 7 online.

All the drivers have been checked for the latest driver in Device Manager after reinstallation.

Update of drivers have been installed, if necessary,

Not all files would play in WMP.

Error messages have been the library WMP files were corrupt or configuration settings can be unruly.

None of the suggestions online worked for me.

Try the following:

Right click on this web page and create a shortcut on your desktop at the top of the landing page after the reboot.

Click on: start - type "device manager".

Click: Device Manager

Click on: "audio, video and game controllers".

Click on: Driver tab

Click: CODEC Audio of IDT high definition (HD)

Click: uninstall

Reset

DOWNLOAD: IDT high definition (HD) Audio CODEC 2013

(You can get this leave you PC service site manufacturer or an application to update the driver.)

Reset

This solved my problem.

I hope this helps.

  • "Windows Media Player 12 - corrupted library.

original title: the woes of 'Windows Media Player 12.

    Good first day and all.

"Windows Media Player 12" (like the one provided with 'Windows 7') - I can't get it to work reliably.  No, this, scratching for 'reliable' read 'at all '...
We have a library of about 35 000 titles, coded as "Windows Media Audio (Lossless)" (so using the Microsoft CODECs).  My sync.s with a Microsoft Office "Windows Mobile 6.1" ' phone ("HTC" "Touch HD" to be precise).
Usage only I do 'Windows Media Player' is to synchronize playlists with my ' phone.  I tend not to listen to anything to help I have much better way to listen to music through a system of his PC and speakers crammed into an LCD monitor.  So "Windows Media Player" is just sitting there in the background.
And some days she who will be quite happy without problems.  However (average) about 3 - 4 times a week, it will crash just randomly - up comes a dialog box saying «Windows Media Player has stopped working...» » ; or upward will come a message on my workspace is corrupted - "Media Player" will apparently remove and recreate automatically for me the next time it starts.
The problem with that is it then everyone loses sync. settings, because it creates a new ID of the library for the new library, so I have to go and re - set my mobile, re-set-up device synchronization settings all the playlists I want to sync, etc etc etc etc and all this only after a wait of several hours for "Windows Media Player" to actually re-created the library first place.
Basically, it's the two 'Windows Media Player' himself and tries to synchronize the music with my mobile device actually completely unnecessary and impracticable.  I'm not fan of Apple products but with Microsoft software using the Microsoft CODECs and synchronization to a mobile operating system of Microsoft being so completely and totally unnecessary I can quite understand why people just go and buy iPod (or iPhone, or...)-at least Apple understand media, including Microsoft obviously doesn't...
So, after only 4 hangs 2 library reconstructions and only today (he is obviously having a particularly bad day today...) I thought that "enough is enough" and sought technical support options.
Now, I'm not about to pay stupid amounts to Microsoft to tell them that their software is broken, and for them, finally, to answer "Yes, and? ...".  So I thought I would look on the Microsoft support site to see what options are available.  Apparently none - despite 'Windows 7' having been out for a while now, all Microsoft support pages only refers to 'Windows Media Player' versions up to version 11.  Come on Microsoft, which is pretty poor, is it not?  I know only for about 2 years 'Windows 7' RTM (Release To Manufacturing), so maybe it's a little early to wait to talk about "Windows Media Player 12" on your sites... support?  (this is sarcasm, in case anyone was wondering...)
So I turn on the forums.  Does anyone else have a great experience (and I think that ~ 35 000 titles probably called 'wide') libraries with "Windows Media Player 12", and if so have you had any problems?  Someone has suggestions for additional diagnostics (for example, try to establish exactly what causes the library should be damaged or for 'Windows Media Player' suddenly to be considered "stopped working")
    ?
What's happening on my machine "Windows 7 Professional (x 64)" with 8 GB of RAM and a lot of free space on the disk, so resources should not be a problem. "  It also happens on all the various other machines that we have here (all running "Windows 7 Professional"; for most of the "x 64").  It never used to happen with all that the latest version of 'Windows Media Player' was to 'XP' (but who had his "own collection of the bad guys to use"ActiveStink"...) so there shouldn't be anything specific library - it certainly seems to be problems specifically with "Windows Media Player 12".
    Any suggestions gratefully received...

Method 1 fixed an issue, I've had where Media player would not start.    If I tried to play an mp3 file I get "Server error".  Bad shooting Diagnostics said my configuration was corrupted and my library was corrupt.  But it didn't fix it. Uninstall and reinstall using Windows features has not solved my problem.   With the FixIt solution, my problem has been resolved.

We have removed the virus that caused it (the library is still corrupted), but now we can't find one of our photos, videos or documents.  We saw all our photos and videos for a few minutes when we opened the Windows Media Player for the first time, but as soon as the update is complete, all disappeared.  When we click on 'Properties' on a couple of records that appear still under 'Photos', the file size and the number of files, the two seem to be OK; However, when we open the file, it is empty.

  • In Win7, how move you or rename a single multimedia file or media files containing single file without causing the library of Windows Media Player become corrupt?

I am trying to manually rearrange media in a way and records are arranged and named on my Win7 PC. I need to be able to move and rename files and folders individual.

The problem is that the traditional method of doing such things (i.e. the cut/Paste and Rename commands in Windows Explorer) will cause the damaged Windows Media Player library. It seems that all the changes to the paths of the multimedia files must be made in the Windows Media Player interface. However, I'm unable to find options to move or rename files or folders in WMP.
I am aware that there is a way to move and rename all the files and the folders that contain media files automatically, but not what I'm looking for. As far as I know, it does not allow me to select only the files and folders, and it offers very limited options for what could be the new places and names.
What is the feature I want to exist in WMP? If not, is it possible to do outside WMP which will not cause the damaged WMP library? (Also, if not, why not, Microsoft?)
    Thank you

    Hello

You can change the location of folders in Windows Explorer.
After changing the location, I suggest you to rebuild the Windows media player library.

    You can check these links:
  • How to repair windows media player 12 corrupt dattabase 8 64-bit

I know that this problem has continued on Windows 7, there is a fix to clear the database and rebuild. But don't know how to do it on windows 8.

It's an album art problem, when you try to change you get just ERROR telling you that you cannot change while the song of the album is in use...

Help, please... I spent a lot of time in media player 11 get all my songs to correctly display the album art. Now, all that seems to have been in vain.

And if there is no good solution for media player 12 is there a way to remove the 12 version and install version 11...

I had a problem with any file in the library.
She ended it was damaged and that's how I fixed it.

    Access the Windows File Explorer.
    Access libraries.
In the right pane, delete the music library.
Then in the left pane, right click on libraries and press on restore default libraries.
Now, go to organize, manage libraries and click music.
Make sure that the files you need are included and WMP should rebuild the library.

It worked for me and now things are normal again.

  • Windows Media Player is unable to store settings of library management

Everytime I open WMP a message in the lower bar tells me THAT WMP is update of libraries of music, video and photo.

This slows down my computer and WMP lock causes.

I don't want my music library updated, I go to libraries to manage and delete addresses stored video & photo library, then save and exit.

However, whenever I do this, WMP fails to save my changes and I have the same problem the next time I open WMP. My video and photo library folders reappear in the WMP library locations list.

Its for this reason that I no longer use Windows Explorer, as I was sick of having to adjust the width of the columns, types of columns, types of icons, etc, whenever I opened it.

Fortunately, I found some file management software not Microsoft that handles this simple task.

Is it so hard for your software to store the settings? Is anyway at all to prevent WMP video update and photo libraries everytime I open WMP? I tried many things, but nothing works.

    Concerning

    John C

Let us know how it goes btw, I forgot to mention another method of navigation that can put files in WMP... If you have links to 'Pictures' and 'Video' in your Start menu and click on them it seems also to recover (not what you want) in order to avoid their use, or better still to delete... Right click on the taskbar -'Properties' - tab "Start menu" - "Customize" - and scroll down to 'Photos' and dot the circle 'view... etc' and then even for 'Vidéos'.

    Best - R.
