Windows media player: the server is running has no error

When I got this error when trying to play a piece of music, I ran WMP Troubleshooter who reported

  • Corrupt recording script
  • Reset Windows Media Player
  • Windows Media Player library
  • Network Windows Media streaming settings are corrupt

All errors have been shown to be fixed, and when I tried again to play the music, everything was fine - until I then restarted the pc when the same error "Server execution" appeared.

I removed the WM Center and WM Player, rebooted, reinstalled WMC and WMP and restarted.  This time, when I tried to play a song that I got a very strange message that was clearly not of Microsoft origin "trial expired, buy now or enter your serial number" in a window had.

I ran a full scan MS Essentials without result.

I tried the suggestion in a previous post:

Method 1

(a) click Start and in the search bar type cmd.exe

(b) right click on cmd.exe and click Run as administrator

(c) in the command prompt, type the following command

net localgroup "Administrators'"NT Authority\Local Service"/ Add

(d) press on enter and restart the computer

(e) check if you are able to read the files in Windows media player.

Same result - "trial expired...". »

I tried solving problems of parameters of Windows Media Player, which just reported 'Configuration settings could be wrong', but did not set.

Where should I go from here?

  • Cannot share media files between Windows Media Player 11 and my Samsung Galaxy Tab, error: connection to server lost

Original title: Media sharing between Samsung Galaxy Tab and Windows Media Player 11

Why my Windows Media Player 11 share media with my Samsung Galaxy Tab?  As soon as it connects and I try to play a movie, I get an error message no connection or connection to server lost.  What can I do to share multimedia files on my Galaxy Tab without getting this message?

    Hi SylviaSkeeter,

    (1) if it works well before?

    (2) remember to make changes?

    (3) how you try to sync or share media?

    (4) what is you receive the exact error message?

You can use the software provided by Samsung to sync media, or you can use Windows Media Player.

Method 1: Disable the security software and verify afterwards; Follow the steps mentioned in the link below

    Disable the antivirus software

If you use a non-Microsoft security software, you can check the documentation provided with the program to achieve this.

Important: Re activate security software once everything is done.

  • Windows Media Player 11 on XP SP2 has lost all its music library and will not allow him to add again.

I have the media player 11 and it worked very well.  Yesterday I opened a session and opened it, and there is no music in the library.  Playlists are still there.  I tried to manually add folders to watch. No joy.  When I repeated the procedure for adding, records Analyzer was still empty.  As if I never said what to monitor.

I followed the advice offered in this forum at staceygumbert and followed a link to:

    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/fixing-when-windows-media-player-library-wont-let-you-add-files/.

This notice did not.  Once I deleted the database because it suggests that WMP asks about media sharing.  When I click on the button 'Settings' WMP fails and sends an error report.

If I connect my wife, everything is OK.  I tried to copy its database through my user profile.  No joy.

My Roku Soundbridge can't 'see' libraries.  However I think it's to be expected considering not having WMP does not all libraries.

  • Help! windows 7 Windows media player: the album (with album art) icons are HUGE! How to make their small new

HELP! Im not sure how it happened, but today, by using windows media player, I think that I leaned on my keyboard, by chance and somehow my icons have grown from small (such as 4 cm wide) to huge (as 9 cm wide). I put it on the "icons" option and always have. I tried to find out if there was a zoom button or something that would cause this happens on my keyboard, but there is not, it's just a standard keyboard. Then I tried switching modes, for "tile" of fashion, but they are huge in this point of view too, only 3 albums are now through my screen, when there used to be 6. I prefer them smaller, because it won't take long to scroll down threw them, I sense a tun of the music. I looked in the settings and can't seem to find a way to change their return. Please let me know if you have a solution for me! Thank you guys!

    HI Branika,

    Apology for a delayed response.

You can try this procedure and check if it retains the size original album art information of the media file in Windows Media Player:

    • Open the media file in Windows Media Player. Click on the file and then press F4. Now the album art will not be displayed.
    • Press the F4 key from the keyboard. This will reset the size of the info from the album. This works very well for a specific file. You can also choose to support those who don't have the default size and use specific keys to reset.

If this does not help, we will proceed with several troubleshooting steps ahead.

We will restore the size of album art using the registry change and check if it helps. Check out the link and follow the suggestions that are marked as an answer:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-pictures/album-art-size-Windows-Media-Player-12/6a2c3727-43AE-43A3-Ace1-c48008811e92

Note: Please make sure that you back up the registry files before you start the troubleshooting steps listed above.
