Windows Media Player no longer works.

Windows Media Player no longer works when I click on the desktop icon, menu start, insert the CD or download the E-mail WMV file.
The following message appears "Windows Media Player is not installed correctly and must be reinstalled. "You want to install the Player on the Microsoft Web site".
When I click Yes and follow all the steps to install and try opening Windows Media Player, I get the same message appearing that it is not installed correctly.
I am running Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3.
Any help is greatly appreciated in getting Windows Media Player works again.
Types of looks,
Geoff

  • Windows Media Player no longer works, error reading CD drive in digital mode

My WMP has suddenly stopped working, he can see a CD in the drive but does not play. The message is "WMP encountered an error when reading the CD drive in digital mode. Click OK to switch to analog mode. Click Cancel to start playing in digital mode.

  • Windows Media Player closes whenever I open it with the message "Windows Media Player has stopped working"

    Hello

I have a XC of Aspire Acer-605, i5 with Windows 8 (bought 4 weeks ago)

When I open Windows Media Player 12, if I play music or not, in less than a minute, a box appears that says:

"Windows Media Player has stopped working: a problem caused the blocking of the program works correctly." Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

The only option then is to click on "close the program".

When I try to listen to music on CyberLink Power Media Player 12. I have the pop box saying:

"Play.exe stopped working: Please send us this report to help us solve the problem and improve this software."

The option only two then are "CANCEL" or to type my email and the problem then click on 'send report '. I did the second and nothing heard back.

XBOX media player works, but I don't want to use it.

I already scanned with McFee virus and it found nothing. I recently remove a virus from my computer. The problems may have started after that.

Can you help me to solve my problem?

After days and days of the trial, an online chat with a technician Microsoft (which was useless) I finally found a suggestion that worked... I had to create a new user account with administrative privileges. Media worked perfectly in this new account! I then spent ages downloading the files from my old account before deleting completely. It took a long time and has been a real pain, but at least it works now :-). Good luck to all. I hope this works for you xx

  • Windows media player does not work as no driver DVD

Had to format drive (trojan) & reinstall Windows XP home. Now Windows media player does not work as no DVD driver download from Toshiba site?

    Hello

Usually the Windows media Player is not able to read DVD movies IF no plugins were installed.
To watch DVDs, you can use programs such as WinDVD or PowerDVD.
These programs are designed for the DVD play!

But you can also visit the Microsoft Web site and search plug-ins for Windows Media player.
Then you can download and install to play a DVD with WMP

My easy key of Windows media player does not work and I have installed the package of value added. I don't know what's wrong all the other buttons seem to work well.

When the VAP is installed this button should be enabled to start Windows media player by default.
In any case, you can test the functionality if you set it to start another application.

Configuration tool buttons you will find under:

  • Windows Media Player does not work on Windows XP.

I was still having problems with my windows live messenger I did a clean through my computer of viruses and and anything that may be damaged and then I let a friend 'fix' that believe him when he said he could. Windows Media Player worked well before he touched and now it will not respond the same way. I also use Firefox as my main browser, only then if someone else who uses the engine might be able to help or whatever at all for this player. He worked 5 hours trying to get it working right again, but eventually gave up. It also seems that all sites that I thought could help ended up being for vista or windows 7-8. windows media player doesn't work I have to do a lot of, click on this and that and then play. I want to just back to normal. thx for the advice

Original title: How can I fix windows Media Player so it will automatically play CDs or DVDsit stopped after I cleaned my computer.

Thanks for all these possible methods of fixing. We did in those 5 hours trying to make it work related things. my friend had installed all sorts of uprising "Tune Up programs (which I told him not to do so), but after he did this." It is when I have a few things that worked before orders also. as well, it didn't speed up my computer nor in any case. then after I uninstalled all his *, ran all cleaners and antivirus programs, cleaned the Vincent of cookies that have been in my wall of cookie and don't have a boot scan system. and then passed through a finger and put a cd in and I heard run and a list of options appeared with the selections as game cd on Media player so I high informed that clicks on the box on the bottom, saying always remember this clicked on ok. and easie peasie it worked. I remember now that the way back in 09 when I got this computer, this option is given then to so I do not know that are a little devil programs Sotah but thank the Lord that I found myself in the end fixing. Unfortunately, it was after I went to the community for help when I decided to give him another chance to just put a cd and see if I had to go through files and click on the media player, and then click in the list of play but I had that pain in the butt. I don't know if faith had anywthing to do with my luck but I prayed for help earlier and well I got it! Thank you for your time giving these great options of measures to take. may blessing come your way Lori

My husband told me that he has always had difficulty to play the DVD on WMP.  I discovered that it would not play because there was a problem with the audio.  I couldn't find the solution to this problem.  However, we were able to play, burn and rip CDs until what we downloaded Windows SP2 for Vista Home Basic (32 bit), two days ago.  Since then, we have not been able to open the app, and the WMP network sharing Service.  I tried to run the Setup program, but it is said that there is a newer version of WMP and it will not replace or repair.  I wanted to see if I could find a solution to this problem without having to resort to reinstalling Vista or restore to an earlier point.  I also noticed that when the WMP application has been updated July 15 to the new version below, there were times this video Web sites would not play and we would have to restart the computer so that we can read them.  More information on apps not working do not are below:

    Hey bellais

    Run the sfc/scannow command.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms,Accessories, right-clickguest, and then clickrun as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or clickallow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions
