Windows Media Technologies problem
I often get the following message in the function of reports on problems and Solutions, but I never find anyway to correct the isssue on the Windows solution Center website:
"Windows Media Technologies has been blocked from running because it might prevent your computer from starting correctly in the future". "
"Your version of Windows Media Technologies is incompatible with this version of Windows.
"Click here for online access to the Microsoft Corporation Web site to find out if a solution or update is available"
Is there actually a solution to this problem?
Thanks for any help available.
John
You could check and see if this fix will help with Windows Media Player.
Click on the article below. It has an automatic FixIT, you can click. However, I would like to do a backup or system restore point before proceeding.

Thank you for using the Microsoft answers Forum.
You have recently installed any programs or updates that may hinder the passage of Vista's Windows Media? Have you recently experienced problems with the startup of Windows or other issues that are new?
Try the SFC scan to replace or repair files that may be related to Windows Media. I have included instructions below for this process.
The System File Checker tool
To determine if the problem you are experiencing is caused by one or more system files that are used by Windows Vista, run the System File Checker tool. The System File Checker tool analyzes the system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
1. click on Start
Collapse this includes this image
and then type cmd in the box start the search .
2 right-click cmd in the programs list and then click run as administrator.
Collapse this includes this image
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click continue
3. at the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER:

When the analysis is complete, test to see if the problem you are experiencing is resolved. If the problem you are experiencing is not resolved, use the procedure that is described in the section "the System Restore tool.

I'm trying to convert VHS to DVD via my computer. I bought an ACQUISITION VIDEO & AUDIO USB card and I'm having the problem. It is coming that my version of Windows Media Technologies is not compatible with my version of Windows (Vista).
Hi Als01,
1. which video application do you use to convert?
First check if the ACQUISITION VIDEO & AUDIO USB card is compatible with Windows vista by using the Compatibility Center.
http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-Vista/default.aspx
If you use any application uninstall and reinstall and check if it works.
You can also check whether a third-party program is causing the conflict with the application.
To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Hello
always check the compatibility of vista programs on the link below
http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-Vista/default.aspx
If a program is compatible with vista you can try right click on the setup.exe, and then selecting run as administrator
It is not compatible with vista, you can try running it in a previous operating system mode
This does not work for all programs

Y570 Windows media player problem
Hi guys...
Recently I bought Lenovo Y570.
But I am facing problem with the playback of the media through windows media player.
Audio / video that plays automatically stops and I have to press play to resume playback.
It is sometimes quite irritating.
Sometimes, listening to a playlist, the song gets skipped automatically and the next song starts.
What could be the problem?
I installed the Spider & VLC player media player, but I don't face above problems during playback of audio / video on them.
Edit: just now, I was playing a piece and he pauses automatically. I did not worth playing again. But after a few minutes, he started to play again.
So, basically, it's like some ghosts control my windows media - play, pause, skip song player.
I couldn't find a similar problem on the internet. Help, please. I want Media Player since it sounds better than the spider.
You have Lenovo RIC in your system tray? If you do, you have the auto-DJ turned on. Go to the menu "assistant" and turn it off.
You can disable this "feature" in your menu.

color of Windows media player problem
The Windows Media Player framework (including the toolbar) changed to dark red color (have not changed the parameters myself) on my desktop (blackish slept on my laptop). and the "color picker" under "improvements" simply does not (it does on my laptop). I've uninstalled and reinstalled WMP without result. Suggestions, please
I found this solution on an Avast forum (seems as if some Avast users have this problem) and it worked for me.
Open the dialog box run (twice) and then paste into the pressing next OK after every time:
regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
I did a registry backup first - just in case - but now my WMP is back to normal (black)

Windows Media Center problem of input S-video
I have a HP m9350f running Vista 64-bit Home Premium. It has a Hauppauge HVR-1800 TV tuner inside. This card features a remote control with IR receiver is highlighted at the front of the minitower chassis. The tuner and remote work fine through WMC with a 'digital antenna "as the source of signal to the card.
However, I'm trying to set up WMC also accept a S-video (or composite video) and audio of a combo Samsung DVD/VCR, VR-357. WMC hesitate to second source because it can't find/see "IR control cable" on the remote control, so I can never finish the implementation.
I've seen some old posts that address this problem, but nothing that seems to apply to the HVR-1800. What is someone is aware of all hotfixes to WMC or some other workaround for this stumbling block "IR control cable"?
The VR-357 has no RF output, so I can not simply designate as an "analog" with just the Ch antenna 3/4. My next step is to go buy an old VCR to get Ch 3/4 output and this source from the TV card as an analog antenna, but that seems to be crazy having something to do with all this modern equipment!
Thanks in advance to anyone who has nothing to offer.

I can't do all window media center to work.
Hello
Method 1: Open the program by clicking on start > all programs > Media Center. If you are able to open the application from here then the shortcut could have corrupted and you may need to create a new shortcut icon.Follow the link below:
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/create-or-delete-a-shortcutMethod 2:You can run an auditor of the system files on your computer. This will replace the corrupted in your operating system files.
Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:
Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.

I downloaded many mp3 files on my computer and now want to burn CDs. It is said that this file is not a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the control panel of link value. I have absolutely no idea what it this. A month ago I was not having problem with my Windows media player. I don't know what to do. I have Windows Vista. It came bundled with my computer so I can't uninstall & reinstall.

Try this...
Start > default programs > associate a type of file or Protocol with a program > wait for loading > top left, under name, scroll down until you see mp3, click > everywhere, look under current by default, it should say Windows Media Player...
If it does not say that, click on change program... > in the open with window, select Windows Media Player > click OK
See the screenshots for illustration...Hope this will help.

I have ths same issues as the other 3 people. The first time I tried to use Windows Media Center it sabotaged several of my office and of programs on the start menu icons. Now, whenever I try to use these programs, the Media center load. I tried everything I know to do without success.
Hello Aquarius_500,
1 are all the icons on your computer turned into Media center or just opens with Media Center?
I suggest that you try the methods below to resolve this issue.
Method 1:
It seems to me that file on your computer is corrupted. You can try to do a restore of the system on your computer when it was working fine.
a. Click Start, type system restore in the search box and then in the list click on the system restore program.
b. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
(c) in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
d. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
e. click Finish.
You can check the link for more information below:
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/system-restore-frequently-asked-questions
Method 2:
You can try to manually change the file association. Here is a link you can follow and which will give you information about this:
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/change-which-programs-Windows-uses-by-default
Method 3:
Try to create a new user account and check if you have the same problem. This can be caused by a corrupted user profile.
To create a new user profile, follow these steps:
Note: To create a new profile, you must first create a new user account. When the account is created, a profile will also be created.
a. open user accounts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking user accounts and parental controls, and then clicking user accounts.
b. click on manage another account. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
c. click on create a new account.
d. type the name you want to assign to the user account, click an account type, and then click on create an account.
Note: Do not give the username for the user account.
