Change the associations of the image on your system has no effect the
recipients of an e-mail message. Who controls just what program
starts when you open a photo on your system.

BTW... If you are referring to Adobe Reader... it is to view .pdf files
and is not useful for photos.

If your photos are JPEG (.jpg) files your recipients should be able to
to view them.

  • Problems with the Windows on Windows 7 Photo Viewer, cannot open the picture

    Good evening!

I can't open a few photos that I downloaded from my digital camera's SD card.  They are all in the same folder, and they are all JPEG.  Some of them are open very well, but there are MANY who are not open and I get the message: 'Windows Photo Viewer cannot open this photo because Photo Viewer does not support this file format, or you do not have the latest updates for Photo Viewer. "  As I said, they are all JPEG, as well as the Windows Photo Viewer is already set as my default Photo Viewer.   When I opened the window of the picture viewer I have not been invited for updates.

I don't understand why some of my photos to shoot to the top of fine and the rest don't pull up at all.   Where will ensure that I have the latest update?  You have any other suggestions?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Looks like there are probably good copies elsewhere then... I was worried, you might well have lost some of your photos, and it is always better to access the card and copy and paste the files (and then check that they are ok) before using the software download and the removal from the Board. If the files have been corrupted somehow during the transfer process, they can still be recoverable in respect of the SD card using something like the free version of "recuva" providing that the SD card has not been re-used and previous files overwritten by new material. However, if your sister still photos as well which should not be necessary.

I don't think this is likely to be a problem with the photo viewer, but let us know when you received that email... all the best - Ric.

  • Windows Photo Viewer cannot open this picture because you don't have the appropriate permissions to access the location of the file. »

    Separated from this thread.

I have the same problem when I try to access some of my photos through any method (File Explorer, IE, Windows Photo Viewer, etc.).  When I try to display the image, I get an error message that says "Windows Photo Viewer cannot open this picture because you don't have the appropriate permissions to access the location of the file."  A few photos in the folder open very well.

The photos are stored on the hard drive of PC in the pictures folder.  Not all pictures are affected - some I can always access.  I tried to run your AutoCorrect tool - it has not fixed the problem.  I tried to add "everyone" by your above statement and he could not solve the problem.  While it was updating the permissions for everyone, it displays the following error message: "unable to enumerate the objects in the container.  Access is denied. »

Check if your Windows Photo Gallery has its flaws.

Start > default of programs > Set Your Default programs > left side, click Windows Photo Gallery...
He said "this program has all its defaults"?
I have no f, click on choose by default for this program "> put checkmarks on all entries in the list." > click Save.

    It work?

Also check if the file association for the jpg has opened by photo gallery.

Start > default programs > set a file type or Protocol with a program > under the name on the right, scroll down to .jpg, up until it clicks > look to the right. Does say Windows Photo Gallery? > If not, click on change program > select Windows Photo Gallery > click OK when finished. Photo Gallery - cannot save changes

When you edit a photo, I get this message: "unable to save changes to this picture because library has encountered a problem." I tried various things I found online (several threads on this site as apparently others have experienced this too), but none of the ideas allowed. Here's the thing, it worked for years until now. Last week I played ignorance a little with my services, disabling some supposedly speeding up my computer and also played with my Start menu. I don't know that I've changed, however. Can any particular service being disabled cause this problem? Thank you and have a nice day.

Lately, photo gallery began by telling me that it cannot find a file.  The message box does not disappear, and I can not close the program.  He wants to find a location that is removable, and I can't seem to find something on my computer.  It started to happen just after Christmas 2011 and to appear more often over time.  The strange thing is, I often work with images on an external hard drive and I get the same message, and I need to drag the image to my desktop before photo library will 'find' and open it.
