Windows Microsoft XP saved itself?

Okay, so I tried to speed up one of my computers without spending more money (he was missing the RAM to make it even a little fast and DDR1 is cheap these days) so what I did take the former stop of the computer hard drives and put them in another case that already contained a CPU, RAM, and CD/DVD players. Also, I took the graphics card of the former stop and plugged into a new one. However, when I turned on the computer again, Windows XP starts fine and everything but when I went to sign that he told me that she needed to be activated. This computer is not connected to internet (it has a wireless card, but I disabled it before when he was in a different position in the home) and when I click on the phone option for activation of the said registration it does not find the registration information. I can't activate the wireless card because Windows XP will not let me something else that activate Windows; If I hit remind me later it disconnects me. All the setting for the computer appear to have been registered because the substance is the same, it's just that she went from a slow race to a muscular paperweight machine and I would like to make it work again as it has been the media center of the House.

  • Why Outlook Express "Identities Login" window launch daily by itself?

I am running XP SP3 and Office 2007. My computer is always turned on. I no longer use Outlook Express as an email client, but I've had multiple "identities" put in place due to several e-mail accounts for businesses. I now only use e-mail via a web browser. I also installed Norton 360 Internet protection suite. Daily Outlook Express "Identities Login" window is launched by itself. It also no longer displays the normal Outlook Express ICON on the taskbar button. Instead, it displays a different ICON which resembles something of Norton 360 can display, but they can't explain it.

Can someone tell me why this window would launch itself every day? It doesn't look like the PC is to be restarted because the other windows that should be present are not there. I have turned off the file msmsgs.exe from running at startup, but this does not seem to stop him. Someone at - it help him? Thank you.

Norton and OE never got along (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3) and it's probably Norton that causes the problem, even if their population do not know on this subject.  (This is a horrible program to install on your computer, because it generates problems of electronic mail and also slows down the machine a lot.  I would like to get something much less invasive, for example www.microsoft.com/security_essentials) If you use OE, then go and delete the accounts and identities and then it shouldn't bother you more.   You can also go to start | Run and type msconfig and disable startup items which can be access trigger OE to open.

What is your level of service pack? If you don't know, click Start, run and type "Winver" in the Run dialog box.

Windows Update no longer works if you do not have Windows XP SP3 installed. If the previous step, you have confirmed that you don't have XP SP3 installed, you must download and install XP SP3 from the link below.

Note: You can safely ignore the warning text indicating that this package is not suitable for the it professional and network facilities.

Important: to avoid a scenario where your system enters a 'loop', due to the installation of XP SP3, you need to check and make sure that your processor type is not an AMD (HP) or non-Intel Processor. Any help appreciated. Thank you

    You are welcome.

How about that.  Don't you love it when a plan comes together?  Windows updates only or material for pilots also and then update windows is good, but for a more broad ability of other applications Microsoft, then Microsoft Update and Office update is good for a shopping for updates of every Microsoft product you have.

You suppose wrongly, and I thought I answered this before.  Technically, you can re-enable the automatic updates but that will require you disabling updates every Monday just before black Tuesday and then manually download and install the cumulative security update newly released and restart before you activate the updates automatic (or notifications only) once more.  It is more reliable just disable automatic updates and do not have the headache.  Disable the horse of notification that is displayed in the status bar, and that you don't mind.

Please mark this thread as a response.  Thank you.

To not argue the point, but XP users required the kind of brilliant 'support' who gave XP since the time of the IE7 to IE8 'false upgrade' users XP need like a hole in the head.

Too late now, my friend.  Running another repair facility - even if you can uninstall IE8 (which you can not according to your last post) - won't fix everything.

Your only recourse now is to a format the hard drive & then (b) make a clean Windows installation.
