Windows 8 - computer maintains itself muting

Note: I have a computer HP, Windows 8, and all windows updates are up-to-date.  Computer is less then 1 year old.

Question:

Since a few months I have had major problems where the window will randomly cut the Audio sound on all my sound property: Normal speakers and headphones, and Applications: like Chrome, go encounter, Mozilla Firefox, outdoor speakers, etc.. In a nutshell, my sounds simply stops working.  When you open the Volume mixer, I can click reactivate all assets in the Volume mixer, but the sound still doesn't work.   I tried to reproduce the problem, executed malicious programs looking for a potential virus, tried to reactivate the sound using the volume on my key word key, sought updates Driver Sound and have sought in Windows community forums (trying to solve the problem), but alas, it seems still keep occurring randomly.

Currently, to solve problems, I have to restart my computer and then all the fine sounds function.   This becomes a problem because I use this computer for work and Webinar / Conference calls often requiring its functions so that I can hear the questions from customers.

Problem occurs every day.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi JTompkins,

You could deal with this issue because of a damaged or outdated sound card drivers. We appreciate your efforts to solve the problem. Even if you tried to update the drivers, I suggest to uninstall and reinstall the sound card driver and check if it helps.

Method 1: Run the troubleshooter of Sound and check if it works.

Follow the steps to run the Troubleshooter:

a. press Windows + C keys on your keyboard to show the charms.
b. type troubleshooting, and then click solving problems under settings.
c. now, type resolution of noise problems in the search option.
d. click sound convenience store to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2:

Uninstall the sound drivers and reinstall

Follow the steps to uninstall the drivers for sound card and integrated speakers.

a. press the Windows key + X and then click on Device Manager.
b. look for sound, video and game controllers and expand it.
c. right on the sound card driver and choose uninstall.

You can connect to the computer manufacturer website and install the latest driver for the computer.

If you use Norton, AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee, etc. the default action is for Windows Defender must be disabled, that these AntiVirus programs have their own Antispyware Applications.

    There is nothing to worry.

  • My sound system maintains itself to put permanent position mute.

    Original title: sound system reset?

Hello..  From the windows of the last update, my sound system maintains itself reset for the Permanent position SECRET and I cannot figure out how to stop it.

I went through the Troubleshoot utility (any help, tells me to turn it...  If I could do it, I wouldn't look for help!)

I went to my device manager for hours trying to figure which is the issue... my speakers are set to the default device just as they have always been ect ect ect...   I did a virus scan... nothing found...  I checked all my drivers for the computer and all are up-to-date.  I can't figure out how to stop this.

When I restart the computer, all is going well for a few minutes... then the volume goes silent for some unknown reason.

When I click on the sound Manager, the cursor is completely zero.  When I try to move back up to 75%, I hear the ping of buffer, the cursor moves upwards a little and then goes back right down to zero.

When I opened the "mix", a new system called "item" sounds is shown... that was never there before.  Unknown if this has something to do with it, but it's the only thing I can see that is different...  Apart from the fact that windows installed new updates a few days ago and this has happened since then.

    Hi Kaahlin,

This might have caused corruption of driver's record. I would like to know some information about this problem so that we can help you further.

    1. What is the number of brand and model of the computer?

    2. do you get any error code or error message?

    3. put to update that you installed recently? (Mention the number of the update)

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it works for you.

    Method 1:

Try the procedure described in the following Microsoft Help article and check if that helps. This article consists of the steps to solve problems when there is no sound on your computer.

    Method 2:

Remove the update that you installed recently and check. This is to check if the problem is caused due to an update or not.

See the following article from Microsoft Help to remove an update.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/remove-update#1TC=Windows-7

    Method 3:

  • Firefox will always be a way course surf the web using a Windows XP computer after that leaves Microsoft support Windows XP?

Windows XP is still my favorite operating system, but Microsoft will give up support in the coming days. If I understand correctly, shortly after which using Windows Internet Explorer to surf the web on a computer running Windows XP (or can) make the computer vulnerable to piracy. It will be the same for the use of Mozilla Firefox on a computer that is running Windows XP?
I think I saw an ad for Google Chrome with that they would continue to support the browser for use on a Windows XP computer. I think that Google said they would keep releasing patches to secure the Chrome. Can anyone confirm that and more importantly, is Mozilla Firefox secure? Also, should I uninstall Internet Explorer on my Windows XP computer when leaving Microsoft support?

Note - I am posting this with a newer computer that works under Windows 7 64-bit.

Firefox will continue to work with Windows XP. At best, in the near future, I could see the required configuration to encountered to Windows XP with Service Pack 3 (obligation is SP2 for now). Security in Firefox patches are the same, regardless of the version of Windows you are using.

Keep in mind that without security updates, the operating system itself will be precarious. What browser and software security that you use will not change.

Internet Explorer is a component of the system, and you should not attempt to remove it in Windows Vista and lower. From Windows 7, there's a way of kind of uninstall from the control panel.

  • New Windows 8 connect to a homegroup based on a Windows 7 computer.

I have a new computer running Windows 8 and a residential group based on a Windows 7 computer, two flags of HP 64-bit.  My problem is that, after not having not used for several hours, the machine of Windows 8 does not connect to the homegroup.  The message itself, is that the network address is not recognized.  When I click on the button "Diagnose" the message comes back saying my connection has been refused by the host, I guess this means that the Windows 7 machine where rests the homegroup.

Should the residential group rely on the machine Windows 8?  The connection is wireless and I made sure none of the adapters are disabled in the settings of power on both machines.  The new machine has replaced a Windows 7 laptop which had been in place for 18 months and works fine but on cultivated.

The problem has proved to be a parameter in Windows 8, which enabled him to turn off the different hardware components to save energy.  One of these components has been the network adapter AND the wireless adapter.  Souinds as two different things for me, but they are actually the same thing, so only change the network card like HP told me does not resolve the issue.

My son-in-law has suggested that since the machine is a desktop computer, and I never turn off any way, just deselect all options of conservation of power on the components.  As soon as I put the wireless adapter, everything was fine.

Windows 8 or the way the machine is design for energy saving, all went a little over Board.

  • Why Outlook Express "Identities Login" window launch daily by itself?

I am running XP SP3 and Office 2007. My computer is always turned on. I no longer use Outlook Express as an email client, but I've had multiple "identities" put in place due to several e-mail accounts for businesses. I now only use e-mail via a web browser. I also installed Norton 360 Internet protection suite. Daily Outlook Express "Identities Login" window is launched by itself. It also no longer displays the normal Outlook Express ICON on the taskbar button. Instead, it displays a different ICON which resembles something of Norton 360 can display, but they can't explain it.

Can someone tell me why this window would launch itself every day? It doesn't look like the PC is to be restarted because the other windows that should be present are not there. I have turned off the file msmsgs.exe from running at startup, but this does not seem to stop him. Someone at - it help him? Thank you.

Norton and OE never got along (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3) and it's probably Norton that causes the problem, even if their population do not know on this subject.  (This is a horrible program to install on your computer, because it generates problems of electronic mail and also slows down the machine a lot.  I would like to get something much less invasive, for example www.microsoft.com/security_essentials) If you use OE, then go and delete the accounts and identities and then it shouldn't bother you more.   You can also go to start | Run and type msconfig and disable startup items which can be access trigger OE to open.

    Hey, Zain.

Of course, everything is not fine - as a result, the problem.  ;)
My first thought would be overheating.  Clean dust from the computer lately (if ever)?

Spent, I suggest you have a look through the system logs (right click on computer > manage; go to computer Management\System Tools\Event Vieewer) and find the event entry that indicates why the computer turns off.  You'll find it at ~ downtime (can be registered just before closing, can be generated on the reboot log entries.)  You devriez find the offending entry in Windows logs\System.

  • Windows intrusion 10 updates on the Windows 7 computer

The last two weeks, my Windows 7 computer was flooded with Windows strange looking (without specifying which version) update alerts. I decided that these are for Windows 10 I did not. When I look at ' Check for Updates ' I see this "your Windows 10 upgrade is ready" looking at me. I don't want to install Windows 10 in the near future. How can I avoid these alerts to upgrade Windows 10 out of my computer?

    Duke.

I am pleased that everything is resolved.

Personally, I think there you said strange things - KB3035583 is the application GWX [the thing that first prepared to obtain updated Windows 10].  Looks like it went through the manual procedure to clear the queue to update [Windows Update problems resolution is 90%, but it could have been something in the other 10% causing the problem].  I've lived all this manually myself and it's a pain in the neck; someone else to do instead is a very wise move.  I hope that wasn't cheap.

I think you should go to the altered registry key just to see if she is still there so you will know where you stand.  You open the application on your computer called RegEdit then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\GWX [every bit appears in RegEdit, just as folders appear in Windows Explorer].

If you do not change your mind about the update of Windows 10 then do so well before July 29.  Offer ends this day so any upgrade must be activated before this day complete and 10 Windows [or that date itself, MS have not been clear on this detail].  I do it in the first week of July because in August, the activation of MS servers took a week to accept new activations [presumably they were overloaded] and the same delays could happen again, in the run-up to the deadline.

The reason why that I'm upgrading to Windows 10 on my other computer [Windows 7], it is that I have every reason to expect to last beyond January 14, 2020.  At this time, Windows 7 drops support.  All new "vulnerabilities" that are discovered will be corrected not and Windows 7 will quickly become dream of a hacker.  So it would not be safe a Windows 7 can connect to internet after this date.

I use Windows 10 on this computer since the start of the development phase and have managed to tame most of its annoying habits.

The method of lowest stress for the execution of the update is download an installation file, use it to create a USB/DVD system, then it executes as a 'repair installation' {also called an "In-Place upgrade"}.  I can give you links to download and instructions page to do all this if you post to this thread when the time comes.

Because we exchanged messages on this topic, it appears at the top of my list of activities if a new message arrives on it so that I know if you have new questions.

So that's it.  All the best,

    Denis
