  Yes, you can do what you want.  The important thing to remember is that you must place the userkey.psw back in the folder root of any external hard drive in order to to use.  You can move back in position using another computer if necessary.  Where keep you so far is entirely to you.

  Consider writing the password in a safe place instead.  A disc of rest password does not reach anything other than writing that can get the password down.

  Retrieve the password using a password reset disk

  This should be your preferred method to reset your password as this is something that you can do and need to do when you settle your account with a password. The password recovery CD must be created before you lost the password to be effective. If you have not already created it and you read this thread to be upward and out with what to do if you are having this issue right now stop and go create this disc.

  Now, if you have the drive and you have lost your password it is very simple.

  1 start the computer and try to enter the password on the Windows login screen

  I updated my driver to scan finger print pass Simple. When I did this it stopped working. I have registered in and removed my finger because it wouldn't work and that I registered it again. I logged on this laptop and also connected on my Windows phone without problem. It seems that the Simplepass fingerprint scanner blocking both my finger and my old password and also my new password. For this reason, I can't connect to my laptop HP Envy to disable the Simple pass or fix it. Please help as soon as POSSIBLE. I don't want to make a full recovery on this laptop. Thank you

I would say to uninstall HP SimplePass and reinstalled the latest version for Windows 8.1.

• Windows error recovery vista

  I have an Acer Aspire 6929g with Vista.

  Last night I turned on my laptop and I forgot about it, it was not plugged in then the battery is dead.
  Today, I turned it on and windows error recovery is there.
  I tried to launch launch repair but also to start windows normally. Both options present some loading screens and then resumed on windows error reappears.
  I followed another forum and typed F8 to access the menu restart to safe mode options.
  I tried all the safe mode and a few other options on this screen, but I finally get back to windows error recovery.
  I have not all disks to restart.
  Any other suggestions?
  The laptop is 3 years old.

  With an Acer you would normally press Alt + F10 to start recovery to factory settings process, if no disk came with it for purchase.

  And a password for this process, it is normally of six zeros.

  Be warned; all data will be lost when reinstalling.
