"Windows security" no longer recognizes Norton Antivirus

I have Norton Security Suite installed v.5.2.2.3 and all anti-virus settings are turned on.  (This Norton is the one provided by my ISP Comcast.)  Why Windows say I did not no matter what antivirus installed?

Well, go figure, I tried 1 million things, including rebooting, and nothing worked... until the last restart just now.  I just ran "Fixit", which does not, but maybe the combination of Fixit & Reboot worked.  Now, the problem disappeared (he was there for WEEKS).

  • What I have to buy extra (Norton or McAfee) anti-virus or is the antivirus in Windows Security Center enough?

What I have to buy extra (Norton or McAfee) anti-virus or is the antivirus in Windows Security Center strong enough? I have McAfee on my computer, but my subscription has expired. I wonder if it is necessary to update? or if the antivirus and security installed in the Windows Security Center is all I really need. and everything is a little more kill?

    Hi RevStevieB,

Windows Security Center helps improve your computer's security by checking the status of several security essentials on your computer, including firewall settings, Windows automatic updating, anti-malware software settings.

If Windows detects a problem with any of these security essentials (for example, if your antivirus program has expired), Center security displays a notification and places a Security Center icon in the notification area.

I recommend you to download & install the antivirus or security software up-to-date so that it works correctly.

You can also download & run Microsoft Security Essentials on your computer.

    Hope the helps of information.

  • Windows Security Center does not recognize my antivirus

I installed a new driver for my Radeon 3450 graphic card. I had a problem with it and could not roll back so I tried restoring the system did not work. Since that time WSC won't recognize my Norton AntiVirus. I am running Vista 32 bit on an Acer Aspire M3201. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Do not think, but you may as well uninstall it now. Since then he probably won't do anything once it expires in any case.

You can try this when well even if it isn't Norton it can work. If you need assistance I could help you with teamviewer. You'll see what I'm doing

  • Trend Micro AntiVirus and Windows Security Center are contradictory among themselves

I got a message from Windows Security Center that says that Trend Micro AntiVirus related my malware was not turned on. I clicked on the button and nothing happened. Just in case, I began my analysis of virus and it worked for 3 and a half hours now and it registers only 10% full... something is wrong?

    Hello

Some antivirus/security products may cause this error. McAfee, Norton, Windows Live
OneCare, Threatfire are some. What antivirus/antispyware/security products do you have
on the machine now. And who did you NEVER got over it, even if you have uninstalled them. (These
Let the remains that cause strange problems). Therefore a number in your case.

Check the default services and dependencies to ensure that they are running.

Here's what I use and recommend: (these are all free and very effective versions.)

Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with all I have
launched on them. Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven to be very
reliable and compatible. Use MSE or Avast and Prevx, Prevx 3 but not all.

Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except leave the file system, Web,.
Operational network (Script and behavior are also recommended in Ver 6 +).

    Prevx - Home - free

    Windows Firewall

Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)

    Protected IE - mode

IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)

I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(It may temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom
    right of IE)

Avast - home - free - 7.x stop shields you do not use (except files, Web, network, &)
Shields of behavior) - double click on the icon in the Notification area - real time Orange - click on the
Shield that you want to stop - STOP. To stop the Orange icon to show an error indicator-
Click on the Orange icon - top right - settings - click on the status bar - uncheck shields you
    disabled - click OK
    http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download

Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - free
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast

Prevx - home - free small, fast, exceptional protection CLOUD, working with other security
programs. It is a single scanner, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something come back here
or use Google to see how to remove.

Choice of PCmag editor - Prevx-

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever think malware and that
would be unusual with Avast and occasional Prevx running with the exception of a low level cookie
(not much), to UPDATE and then run it as a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they
never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.

  • Windows Security Center reports of many firewall/antivirus on

Report of firewall/antivirus Norton & CA they are operational with Windows Security Center. Personally, I uninstalled CA since the uninstall program and said that Norton was uninstallled so... Why Windows have reported that they are on and working? Since then, I've decided I want to intall Windows Security Essentials and I know that you can't have all these security market and incompatible programs between them... I would be extremely grateful for any info on this...

Use the Norton removal and good CA removal tools:

  • Windows Security Center does not recognize the webroot security essentials

I have webroot essentials of security installed on my windows 7.  The Security Center is not recognize the program. This program has antivirus, antispyware and firewall.  The webroot program works normally. Security Center sees no antivirus, windows firewall is enabled (but in fact webroots Firewall works), says and shows that the antispyware windows Defender (previously, he showed have spy sweeper from webroot and windows defender). My question is how can I get the windows Security Center recognize the webroot program? THX

Hi, thank you for responding. I could solve my problem simply by uninstalling and reinstalling the webroot program. After you reinstall and reboot, windows security center see and recognize the antivirus, firewall and antispyware components

  • is windows security essentials, a complete antivirus software

I use only the windows security essential as long as my anti virus. is that what I should buy another program antivirus for the protection of the internet and full protection?

How can I check my windows security essentials is original and how can check its validity be expired.

MSE is a pretty good protection AV. And it is free :)

If you downloaded it from MS - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/products/security-essentials its origin.

If you click on its icon in the taskbar (green icon - all OK) tab will tell when it has been updated and the dates of virus definition file.

Personally, for the protection of the VA, if you have the MSE installed, ongoing execution and up to date, then you are basically covered.

However, make sure you have a firewall is installed and running and you can check the firewall here - https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 , -click and run at least a test of common ports. You should see a green 'SUCCESS' and ports must be reported as STEALTH.

However, not every AV program will catch all the viruses, so it is advisable to have a back up. Malwarebytes (free) is a good backup. Download, install and keep up-to-date (right click on its icon and 'run as administrator' to update) and manually run a scan of the PC from time to time or if you think that something can be a problem. Also after that update you can right click on any file and check trust individual, it's good for all the downloads you make (from known sites of security of course)

Also, very important to keep your PC up-to-date both the W7 itself and the programs you use i.e. to keep FireFox, java, flash etc. updated IF you use them.

Can I install norton antivirus on the surface running on windows rt?

N ° no programs can be installed on the Surface. Now, if Norton makes an app to the Surface, then of course you can install the application. In my opinion, the Group advocate is more than enough for safety, we have run Defender and Security Essentials since the beginning and have never had a virus. Now that both programs have merged into one big program of Defender, just us that.

  • Norton Antivirus slows down startup time in Windows Vista

    Hello

need help please, I am led to madness by starting slow time of my laptop.
I he had only a few weeks and don't use it for anything beyond to produce documents word etc.

It has been gradually slower on boot and I suspect it has something to do with the protection of Norton antivirus on it software and updates for norton I downloaded (thinking that it was the right thing to do).

Looking at the log for problems and solutions on the computer, the date on which he began really to slow coincides with downloading an update to norton, which I could not uninstall to check if that's really the problem.

In addition, I tried to do a system restore, my laptop could not complete.
I'm stuck on the screen of the BACK for 10 minutes with the message:
PXE - E32 TFTP open timeout

I have no idea what it means, but the newspaper issues and Solutions said something about a blocking of the system?

I looked on the web for other virus protection software and they all seem to have a problem or slow computers and another down to the start.

Did someone knows a solution or should I just make a cup of tea when I turn on my computer and lace with vodka until it is fully charged to the top!

I am a novice when it comes to using computers so would like to receive technical advice.

    Thank you
    Laura

    Hi guys

I would like to add a few words about my experience using the Symantec Norton Antivirus software.
I used this software long 3 years. It was great because it supports one of the best options for filtering viruses, BUT it really slow downs the operating system.
I didn t use on preinstalled Vista laptop but on Win XP and I must say that the laptop boot process was stopped about 30 sec - 1 min until the entire parts of Norton Antivirus software has started, it is very annoying

However, I went to AntiVir. It is described by marina4000 software and I really happy because the startup performance of m.

So finally, I also recommend delete this Symantec Norton Antivirus software and switch to other free AntiVir software ;)

    Good bye
