Windows - unknown download update?

I recently installed updates on my laptop and now I have this unknown download in the background (I have a bandwidth on my computer monitor). I did a scan of my computer using free software (Internet security 360) and nothing was wrong. so far, I've never installed windows 8.1 (my current edition is ' windows 8 ') because I never felt that he had to and I wanted to save bandwidth (I measured to the internet).

No idea what it could be? The Task Manager shows "service host" 7, 4, 16 and 9 by taking the most powerful disk and memory, as well as 'system' itself. I currently write mobile so I could not be able to respond quickly to the posts here, but if you need more information, thanks for posting here.

Now, I disable automatic updates, once again, better to control the use of bandwidth.

Thank you

Since it is a connection counter, Windows Update [automatic updates] downloads that priority updates.

    Hi 1FallenAngel,

Firefox does not connect to the Microsoft update site. You must use internet explore for it.

Please provide us with the error you are getting while trying to connect using internet explore. We would require the error code or error message for further investigation on the issue.

In the meantime, you can try running internet explore in no add-on mode and try to access windows update.

    • Click theStart button, click principally made programs, on Accessories, click System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

If disabling all add-ons solves the problem, you can use the add-on Manager to disable all add-ons and then turn on modules only as needed. This will allow you to figure out which add-on is causing the problem.

In Internet Explorer 8, you can disable toolbars by clicking theX on the side of the toolbar. If there are additional modules associated with the toolbar, a dialog box will be displayed where you can keep or disable the Add-ons.

  • Satellite L30 Windows XP does not download updates

I formatted my old laptop Equium L30 to factory settings (XP Home) with supplied Toshiba recovery cd. After this, my internet connection does not work correctly.

I can browse normally (Explorer, Chrome), but the computer is not download the updates of Windows or other updates, updates to the antivirus for example program.

I've also updated the LAN and WLAN drivers of Toshiba and the site of the manufacturer (Atheros and Realtek).

Yes, once you have downloaded the latest version 8.1 of windows it fixed compatibility with readers for the printer Epson WP-4540. It seems that you need to download windows 8.1 whenever Microsoft updates windows 8.1. Microsoft adds new software for the devices and programs. My Hp computer has windows 8 and I had to upgrade to 8.1 windows. Then I had to download the latest version of windows 8.1. And this corrected the problem.

  • How to replace "apply downloaded update now" with "Check for Updates" in the menu help when the update fails because the downloaded update files are missing but the "Ready to install update" window keeps appearing?

    Question

I have another type of problem with Firefox

    Description

Window "Ready to Install" Firefox "Software Update" appeared. The folder "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\updates\0" contained the files update.mar, update.status and update.version. Each of the 3 files have been deleted. The next time that Firefox has been started, no update occurred because update files were missing. In the Menu bar, clicking Help showed in the menu drop-down that "apply downloaded update now" was always on the list. By clicking on "Apply downloaded update now" open "Software Update" window "Ready to install update", so that Firefox still considers that the update files exist, but they do not. In the window "Software Update", by clicking on "Restart Firefox" restart of Firefox, but once again it there's no update, and remains "apply downloaded update now" on the Help menu. How can "Apply downloaded update now" be replaced by "Check for Updates" so the update files can be downloaded?

You can manually reset the software update feature by closing Firefox and remove the file "updates" (which seems you have done) and the two files "active - update.xml" and "updates.xml" - these are in the installation (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox) directory or in the profile folder (C:\Documents and Settings\nom_utilisateur\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\something.default).

If it does not, see our KB article How to resolve the failure of the update of Firefox update error message - the section of 'last resort' can be useful, or or read this article from MozillaZine KB, software update.

  • Cannot download updates in Windows 7 on dial-up connection.

I need to use a computer * running is not Windows 7 * to download from Windows Update, paste them on removable media and install on Win7 box.

The question...  Last fall, I bought my mother a new machine with Windows 7.  It does not and is not interested, a connection high flow - it has remote access.

The last time I was visiting there, she mentioned that its Internet connection did not work.  Turns on it worked, but it was unusably slow.  It is in the process of downloading 165 MB of Windows updates.  According to my estimates, it would take about a day to download 165 MB more than 56 k modem... She is not willing to tie up his telephone line for so long.

Original title: download updates on a PC (no-Win7), install it on another?

A disable updates of Windows, so that he can stop tying up of its connection.  Of course, now he nags him with a warning of security because Windows Update is disabled...

I need to be able to download the updates appropriate removable media at work & then send him the CD & a few instructions (simple!) for their installation.

Otherwise, I need a way to tell Windows Update do not use bandwidth connection - use maybe 5 KB of its 56KO connection & leave the rest so the computer is not useless for a few weeks, then download updates.

Is this possible?  Or she'll just have to ignore security warnings?

Thanks Kim, but could you be more specific about where the path of % ALLUSERSPROFILE might actually be on a standard installation of C:?

I don't think that this folder exists nowhere in C:/users, including hidden files. Would be - it different in Windows 7?

EDIT: Thanks for the help guys, I decided just to format, because that would be a guaranteed solution and everything seems to be working again now.
