Windows Update after bring laptop in work.

Hi, I'm updating my laptop which has not been updated for a year.

There are 71 updates that won't just download!

I can't get it to check for recent updates, the latest is may and as this laptop is not used, they where not downloaded.

Now, nothing will download or I can't get new controls.

I have a good internet speed so this isn't the problem.

It's windows 7 with service pack 1

Any help please.

I published a strategy for Windows Update for August 2016 to my clients. This works very well and turns out to be relatively simple:

Check the Manager of tasks to ensure that the CPU usage is 10% or less.  If not, do what is necessary for this change.  In most cases, this is due to the update of Windows running in the background.  In this case, stop the WUA service and restart

Use of IE, download and install KB3172605

32-bit https://download.microsoft.com/download/C/D/5/CD5DE7B2-E857-4BD4-AA9C-6B30C3E1735A/Windows6.1-KB3172605-x86.msu

64 bit https://download.microsoft.com/download/5/6/0/560504D4-F91A-4DEB-867F-C713F7821374/Windows6.1-KB3172605-x64.msu

If KB3020369 is not installed (which is rarely the case), the installation of KB3172605 will be rejected as not adapted to the computer.  I have that is the case, download and install KB3020369, then install KB3172605.

32-bit https://download.microsoft.com/download/C/0/8/C0823F43-BFE9-4147-9B0A-35769CBBE6B0/Windows6.1-KB3020369-x86.msu

64 bit https://download.microsoft.com/download/5/D/0/5D0821EB-A92D-4CA2-9020-EC41D56B074F/Windows6.1-KB3020369-x64.msu

KB3020369 does not restart, but KB3172605 doesn't.

Restart the computer

Start the Task Manager and wait for % CPU equal or less than 10% and rest there.  Still installing the updates.

Now launch Windows Update the normal way.

All this happens in 30 minutes.

Windows Update setting is always NEVER.

Original title: Windows 7 Pro 64, windows update/Defender/firewall has stopped working.

I have Windows 7 Professional 64 bit installed, after the time of my last updated 31/7, my windows update has stopped working, and no so Windows defender and firewall.  Firewall gives me error 0x6d9. Defender gives me 0 x 80070424.  Update Windows to 7.31 was an update of the Defender, however, windows update will not give me the option to uninstall this update because the Defender has completely disappeared from the prompt that allows you to choose which puts up-to-date to uninstall. Is it possible to manually remove somewhere else?

I ran SFC/scannow and I WAB32res.dll has been altered, so I copied the file on my windows 7 CD for 64 Professional (from program files/common files) and copied and replace my program.files/common files one.  I restarted the SFC and the same error occurred.  I had 5 errors like this:

I also ran Microsoft Safety Scanner Scanner, he finds 16 errors and fixed them (I saved the names), but even after I reset the computer my Windows Update/Defender/firewall STILL does not work!

Anyone have any ideas? Especially how to fix 'wab32res.dll"maybe that I recorded it in the wrong place?

Method 1: See the following steps:

    a. at a command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
    takeown /f Path_And_File_Name
For example, type takeown /f E:\windows\system32\jscript.dll.
    b. type the following command and press ENTER to grant administrators full access to the file:
    ICACLS Path_And_File_Name/grant ADMINISTRATORS: F
For example, type icacls E:\windows\system32\jscript.dll/grant administrators: F.
    c. type the following command to replace the file with a good copy of the file:
    Copy Path_And_File_Name_Of_Source_File Path_And_File_Name_Of_Destination
For example, type copy E:\temp\jscript.dll E:\windows\system32\jscript.dll.

    Hi Josele69,

Whenever you install a new update, it contains the updates released before. If you will get only the recent updates. When you run windows update, you also receive only for new updates when you're done with the updates offered. This might be a reason you found less updates after formatting windows.

Often we see weird behavior as the result of a program of loading during the startup process.

To solve these, we use the clean boot troubleshooting.

The following article describes this process:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Please note that after refine us the cause, it is important that we return to a normal startup and manually delete the startup program.

We'll do this before uninstalling Service Pack 2.

If the behavior persists, then we can clean boot, uninstall and reinstall Service Pack 2.

  • After Windows Update, Quickplay buttons do not work properly. Help!

I have Win7 64 Bit Pro running DV8T.  After July 12, Windows update, my button of quickplay wireless now default off, and when I hit him to turn it on, it works, but then the treble control screen opens at random.

I used system restore to go back before the update, but it had no effect on the quickplay wireless key.

I don't use much the Quickplay but I need to have my wireless on - all the time would be OK, even if I am logged in.

Someone at - it suggestions?  I'd be willing to change the registry, if necessary to keep the wireless, but do not know what and where to do it.

    Thank you.

    Hello

First, perform a Hard Reset as follows.

Shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery, connect the power adapter and start Notepad.

When windows has completely recharged, download and apply the update for the capacitive band on the following link.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp53501-54000/sp53677.exe

When this has completed, restart the laptop.

If the WLAN led still default to off, try reinstalling your driver wireless using Recovery Manager - the procedure to use the Recovery Manager to reinstall the drivers and software is detailed in the document in question on the link below.

    Recovery Manager - Windows 7

After reinstalling, restart the computer again.

  • Windows Update does not seem to work

The settings are on so that it checks for updates every day, install everything she itself, but when I press on check updates, it indicates that updates and it stays like that for hours.

  • Smart card reader driver is sought on Windows update after inserting the smart card

We are in the process of deploying PKI project in our environment. Client computers have Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit SP1. We use McAfee Endpoint Encryption 5.2.12 on all clients. Our environment has a mix of Dell (Latitude E6400, E4300, E4310, E6410, E6420) and HP (EliteBook 8460p, EliteBook 2560p) laptops. There's no problem with Dell laptops at all.

With HP machines, however there are two problems.
    1. with the model 8460p, after installing the Alcor card reader driver, when I insert the smart card into the reader he begins to search for the drivers on windows update. In three minutes, it updates the drivers and works very well. My concern is when I install the card reader drivers explicitly why go to Windows update. HP 2560p also has the same card reader, but this problem is not on this model. I disabled the driver smart card research in strategy group as well. This behaviour is sparkle roll.
    2. when I enable smart card authentication on the McAfee console for any HP laptop and try to use my smart card on McAfee Endpoint encryption pre boot screen, machine freezes. Same configuration of McAfee encryption works fine on Dell laptops.
    Help, please.

  • Extremely slow/unnecessary Windows Update after system recovery.

    Hello

While trying to help a friend with her laptop, I encountered a small problem, which seems quite unique. After searching the ' net and the Knowledge Base, I'm about as clued in as when I started, that is to say not very.

    Machine: Satellite 1800 412 (Danish).

DID: Restore the system to zero back to XP SP1a (NSP).

Problem: After a complete system via the original recovery CD restore, Windows Update is running * extremely * slowly, or not at all, once it gets to the point where it scans for updates you need. So far, I've managed to get 1 downloaded an update, a little. As an update is attempted usage of the processor reaches a maximum at 100% and stay there until I abandon and hard restarts, since the machine is now almost useless and lazy point appear frozen.

Tried to: applied manually different updates downloaded directly from Microsoft, such as Internet Explorer 6 sp1, XP SP2 (DK), various updates and patches for XP downloaded and checked/tried to reinstall the drivers of Toshiba (they are updated). Verify that the systems boots properly with all recognized devices. Check the system clock. Searched the Toshiba KB, searched the Internet, searched the Toshiba support forum. Pulls hair in desperation. I have to have restored the system 4times intant to try different ways of patching the system with updates.

Special features: It is apparently * only * updated Windows, what causes this problem, and that after the first few, where he updates the Windows Update engine in Internet Explorer. Before that I'm trying to update the machine apparently functioning normally. I can surf, download, install and run programs and what not. (No, I did not visit suspicious websites.) If Windows Update runs automatically in the background / 'in the status bar', the same thing is happening: Machine suddenly becomes useless and stays that way.

The machine is on a local network behind one bulletproof OpenBSD firewall, no other Windows machines inside, so there is no chance of a quick infection of the network at the origin of the problem.

Unfortunately: Manually download and apply the patches aren't an option I want to activate the automatic updates before you return the machine back to its owner.

Hope some of you might have an answer to this one, because I have never known or heard of something similar before.

    Frank.

  • Faulty Windows Update after installing Vista sp1

I finally got windows vista service pack 1 to install on my computer. After installing, windows update keeps failing when trying to update.

I get the error code 80246008

I checked the BITS/Background Intelligent Transfer Service, and he was arrested. It is set as automatic (delayed start). When I try to run it it gives the error 1068: dependency or the group could not start

Checking dependencies, I found that the COM event system + is thus stopped. It is located in autostart. When I try to start what it gives error 193: 0xc1 and says could not start the system event COM + on the local computer "Windows".

I couldn't find anything on the forums which has worked so far

  • Should I still had windows updates after installing Service Pack 3 on Wndows XP Pro

I need my latest updates I installed after installing Service Pack 3 on windows xp pro? Because I'm trying to use less memory as possible, and I like 2 gigs of updates before I installed service pack 3. So I can go and remove the latest updates, or should I be?
