  Good afternoon

  I recently bought this satellite laptop computer pro on the package was both windows vista Home premium. I also decided to change fnsi at the same time. The provider also gives Norton Firewall Virus Intrusion etc etc.

  Microsoft does not validate my system but after that 2 hours on the phone with them and a system restore, they have agreed that I had bought some valid stuff and that fixed it.
  Now it seems windows updates icon appears ask me do I want to download and install.

  Did you try to disable the firewall or uninstall Norton? Norton may block the Internet connection.

  If the provider uses a Proxy Server, you need to enter the proxy in Internet Explorer connection settings.

  I have a problem with Windows Update on my computer Windows Vista 25 Nov. November 25, Windows Update told me of new updates and I chose the option to install the fix and the stop in the night and the system has been blocked to install update 3 of 5 for all night and then I had to turn off the system and remove the battery and restart the system. When I checked the view update history after the restart, he says that it has properly installed patches.   It sounds as if there is something in the way of installation.  First of all, make sure that your system is free of malware\virus infections.  This thread has some great information on this topic: getting rid of malware.   If you do not find infections or even the question after removing them and then perform a clean boot , and then run updates.  Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

• Windows Update crashes frequently; requires restart

  I run Windows Update a bit now and then to stay up to date. However, WU was strange behavior for a while (months): sometimes it freezes with the window simply stay white and the cursor being the circle of waiting and sometimes it crashes when you click on the updates button control (once again the window is all just white). When this happens, I have to restart Windows - otherwise, I can't WU to work.

  The problem is that there is no error message and nothing in the newspapers - WU just freezes.

  I installed all the updates and keep my computer clean by regularly running anti-spyware and antivirus. This problem has existed for a few months now and I was not able to identify if I installed an update etc that might have caused this.

  I run Windows 7 Pro 32 bit, as an upgrade of Windows Vista Business. The problem WU is the only problem that I have.

  Any thoughts?

  I would recommend that you go and try the option boot than dmw86 recommended.  After a clean boot, run WU and check that it works, then put your PC to sleep for a few minutes then wake him up and try to WU.  Also, before you try this, you must restart your PC and WU before testing and then talk the PC to verify that the problem is after coming out of sleep.  Let us know the results.   I've updated to my machine using windows update I get daily updates of windows defender from microsoft, which I'm updating regularly basically according to me, they are definition updates yesterday, I also got an update of the same thing that was about 860 KB, every day I get this kind of update and it hardly takes a minute or two to have downloaded and updated,.

  But yesterday, I clicked on install the update and it has not download at all, I waited for 15 minutes but it didn't download atlast I had to click on stop/cancel download after clicking on hung windows update screen and does not close, I tried to close it using the Task Manager, but it was hopeless or which are listed , atlast I had to close all my apps running and giving alt + f4 close my machine and again rebooted, it again try to open windows update, an icon appears in the taskbar, but it does not open.

  Need help please, I contacted hp online technician assistant support, they gave me a link to microsoft and tells me to install windows update convenience store and run it, I did the sameand lets turn it ran for about 7 hours, but nothing happened after that I have to cancel and close my laptop.

  I understand that you are having problems after that a Windows Update could not be installed correctly. I recommend that you use the Windows System Restore feature and restore your system to a point in time before that you did the update that caused the problem.

  Before you do the restore, I would recommend that save us your personal files. You can do this by following the HP support document: backup of files (Windows 8). This document will guide you in the backup process. I advise do you it just in case, but the Windows restore feature should not affect personal files.

  Now that you have your saved personal files, we can make the Windows system restore. You can see how to do this by following the HP support document: use Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8). This document will guide you in the process of restoration. Be warned applications or settings that you have changed by the date that you choose will need to be redone or reinstalled.

  I use Windows 7 x 64 and since this morning Windows Update is to alert me that there new found updates. When I check updates told me it's the KB974479 update. I already tried to install the update and it ends without error, but after a few minutes, the update appears once again according to their availability. Restart the machine did not help, shortly after the reboot, the update was there again. My update history tells me that I managed to install this 12 times now!

  The update was for an incompatibility between VS 2008 SP1 and Windows SDK 6.1, but I have same SDK 6.1 installed, only V6.0A SDK (which came with VS) and V7.0.

  I understand a computer running Windows 10, which had the printer installed using a Setup disk, now knows the pop ups. My best advice would be to uninstall the printer completely from a PC, the HP printer install wizard for Windows instead, to ensure that the most current drivers for Windows 10 are installed.
