Windows Update is not well spent!

I have Vista ultimate, sp II, 32 bit op system.
After doing a windows update yesterday, my computer has lost all connection with my touchpad, keyboard takes a hammer to get most of the keys work and start-up, the fan runs constantly in law! I have Norton Security 2009 and have done multiple analyses, defragmentation, and a restoration is not an option and still no joy! Not sure if it of a common problem or not. Any help would be appreciated.
Andrew.

Hello

It could be a hardware problem that is indirect for the updates.

1 try a restore of the system back to before the updates

How to make a Vista system restore
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-System-Restore-how.html
Or

2 make a Restore Point

How to create a Vista System Restore Point
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/76332-system-restore-point-create.html

Then try refreshing the battery keyboard drivers - control panel - Device Manager - keyboards - double click
Keyboard - tab of the driver - Driver Update (do not expect anything to be taken) - right-click on it - uninstall
Untick box if offered removal pilot - you will lose function of the keyboard - mouse for the RESTART and
the driver stack will be refreshed.

3. If you cannot restore the update does help not can you withdraw more updates now. Where
all the drivers? Control Panel - updates of Windows - settings - value download but you can choose so nothing
quickly returns to cause new problem - lower left updates installed: UNINSTALL completion queue
and REBOOT.

4 Control Panel - keyboard - check the settings

5. go on the site of the manufacturer of the system and get the latest TouchPad drivers and reinstall them and othes to aid
These methods. (Get latest if possible and if not reinstall the same those who still use the below.)

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system. For
each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver, description,.
version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - Device Manager - Display Adapter - note the brand and complete model of your
video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now click on UPdate Driver (this
cannot do anything as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then do a right click - Uninstall - REBOOT
This will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party with their
own the software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now go to the site of the manufacturer of system (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) (restoration) and then of the manufacturer of the device
(Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for the BIOS, Chipset and software)
updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - tab drivers version you install actually shows up. This
because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (particularly that audio drivers) so install a
pilot - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat if necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW on device at the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER - manually check by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

How to install a device driver in Vista Device Manager
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-Device-Manager-install-driver.html

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver in the Windows updates,
This leaves ONE of Windows updates, but it will not install the drivers who are generally older and cause
questions. If updates offers a new driver and then hide it (right click on it) and then go look for new ones
manually if you wish.

Thans for the answer, I understand what you say, it's just that, until I discarded the computer a few days before (by foolishly following a tip to youtube to speed up computer that has totally stopped it start) windows update worked very well and it has been since a windows 10 installation and a removal of windows 10 the next day a few months ago. The folder c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution/windows/download exist with only 2 files with names very long gibberish and it is only 15 kb and the other file is 39 k, which seems to be far big enough for any update. I was wondering if instead of the clean install from the recovery partition would be any different doing a clean install from the recovery disks that I did when I got the laptop? see you soon

Made no difference with update disk and these 2 small updates are only updated Adobe and after 3 off straight, the bar is still meandering along, my update history shows only updates from 2012 when win7 was installed everything first... * beep * Microsoft!

    P. S.

Yesterday, I decided I had enough and started to install windows from a download 10 earlier, but after it began, I thought "no you know you hated" so I canceled the installation. That's about 3 hours later when I went to stop the laptop it says close and install the updates, so, after 4 hours of installing updates 251 and restarted then installed another 41 updates, then again on the next closure, so basically, I think that the few installation the windows 10 made seemed to start updates to speed?

  • Windows Update does not properly

I am running windows 7 on a hp Q8300 quad core desktop computer processor.  Windows Update (do not remember the official name) has worked well up until now.  2 days ago it downloaded updates and and asked to close at the end of a session, as it is often done without any problem.

Now when you start again it says something like "processing and installation of updates 0% complete, do not turn off your computer.  It was 0%.  Finally, it will start in any case, but updates are not yet installed.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Download and save the Fixit on this page - How to reset the Windows Update components?
Once the download is complete, close all open programs and browsers.
Now Configure the system to boot .
NOTE: If a 3rd party firewall was previously used, open Windows Firewall in Control Panel to make sure that the native Windows 7 firewall is now on.
In the clean boot state, all the firewalls of 3rd party will be disabled. Using the Fixit the system must be connected to the internet.

Now run MicrosoftFixit50202.msi and choose the default mode. Reboot the system to the same State of clean boot and see if he can find, detect and download updates now. If it is possible, then Cancel the Clean boot steps and restart in normal Windows mode.

In normal Windows mode, can the system installs updates now?

If this isn't the case, configure the system to boot once more and run the Fixit by using aggressive mode. Restart when it's done and follow the steps above to see if the system can update now.

  • Windows update - Windows Update is not restore my windows/desktop computer after installing updates

When running Windows Update is not reproduce my office and rather trashes everything.  Ysterday I left to work with over a dozen research Internet Explorer open and this morning, I get to a Windows auto update cycle, which wrecked all.  Well Yes, they are lost and of course, I can spend an hour or more to find once again but my boss is breathing down my neck, as if it was my fault.  Microsoft how inconsiderate!

Of course, I have a solution, TURN OFF Microsoft Update but is this really what Microsoft wants?

    Please people think.

    Hi jbeech,

No, I don't work for Microsoft and I am not associated with them in any way (other than to receive awards and certificates I earned on my own).  I'm a volunteer civilian gift free time to help other people.

I meant nothing personal, per my comments of workflow.  I was just trying to do my best to help you avoid this problem in the future and apologize if you took it the wrong way.  I agree with you that he must restore it things automatically (as it does when you use the hibernation), but maybe that can be done (at least not always) because updates may affect items that are open and to update these programs must be closed (which makes saving them more difficult because if they look different after the update) It may not work if we try to restore them unless they can find a way to save ONLY the information and it is a much more difficult task).  This problem does not occur with an accident or an unexpected shutdown (and a complete restoration in cases does not always work as well and completely that we hope - at least I had problems back exactly where I was with all that every time).

While you can choose to turn off automatic updates, you don't want to not go for very long without updating your system, so checking periodically (although if you want to do on a daily basis - I would try at least every Wednesday at least since most updates are released every Tuesday) is important in all cases.  The option I suggested (i.e. automatic downloads but no facilities) would at least them already downloaded (you would not need to check - that they would be there) it would take much less time to choose and install if you show if off completely - and when you decide to install, you will find it takes MUCH more time because you need to download and install (unless they are already downloaded).  But it is entirely up to you.

    Good luck and best wishes!

  • Cannot access control panel or Windows updates and not more sound

Yesterday, I restarted my computer and a message keeps popping up that I am victim of software counterfeiting (in reference to Microsoft Windows) when I bought the computer at Future Shop just a year ago. Also, now there is a red X on the speaker icon in the corner and said "no audio output device is installed". I followed the instructions mentioned in another post, as well as other Web sites, and nothing seems them works. Above everything else, I can not access the control panel. It appears and disappears immediately. If this were not already enough, Windows Update does not work or the other. The icon is there, but whenever I click on it, nothing happens.
I only bought the computer a year ago, and there is already a long list of problems with it. I'm at the end of my rope! If someone is brave enough to tackle these problems, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

  • Windows Update does not install the updates from 14/04/2009. Error code 80070002.

I'm running 32-bit Windows Vista Home Premium on a Dell Dimension E520 PC desktop with processor Pentium dual core and 3 GB of RAM.
Reasonably up-to-date hardware. Well protected and all software security entirely to so far.
My problem that goes from Windows Update is not install updates from 14/04/2009 and returns the error Code 80070002.
I followed the advice and went in the Windows Software Distribution folder and remove all the contents of the data store and records downloads and tried again about thirty times now.
I get regarding the acceptance of the license agreement and clicking on, ok, when Vista dims the screen and asks if I started it and then the error message in Windows Update, saying: "some updates were not installed."
Is not a computer expert, I guess that what is described in help Windows Update error Code 80070002 is the same as 0 x 80070002 for which I found advice on a Microsoft page to save these commands
    net stop wuauserv
    CD %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution
    Ren Download.old download
    net start wuauserv
as a windows batch file and run as administrator.
I now have a download folder and Download.old folder. Fascinating but no help at all!
I infer that the numbers of 0x0 are my six error codes failed attempts to install Vista Service Pack 1, a few months ago who always ended up with an unusable computer suspended with a black screen and the white writing showing 46 thousand of 96 thousand file and something, followed by a number of 0x0.
The only way I could get of these attempts was by booting from the Installation of Vista disk, masking the Service Pack 1 update and using the system restore, but that's another story.
Have an impact on my current problem, I wonder?
For absolute clarity are the updates that won't install:
Explores update for Internet Explore 7 edition (KB963027) 14/04/2009 (Just editing that.) Typed a wrong number in a first time. Sorry).
Four updates of security for Windows Vista (KB952004) (KB956572) (KB959426) (KB960803)
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - April (KB890830). (I downloaded it manually and run it from my office and we found no problem).
Update of security for Microsoft Office System 2007 (KB960003)
Update of security for Microsoft Office Excel 2007 (KB959997).
I'm at a loss what to try next.
FYI, I use Uni-bleu Power Suite 2009, McAfee Total Protection and Ad-Aware Anniversary Edition with Ad-Watch Live on.
I tried to do everything that it with Ad-Aware died, but my hunch is that the problem is in Vista ot the updates themselves.
I'm quite competent with guests of orders, not to mention manually editing the registry!
However, any help would be received with gratitude and I guess that if the instructions are evidence of fool I have very carefully follow step by step.

I have the same symptoms: from a distinct point in time updates of windows works more and every time returned the error code 80070002.
After a few hours, I found the solution: sfc/scannow reported the wuauclt.exe file.
And the reason was: McAfee virusscan put this file in quarantine. He is falsely W32/Generic.worm.aa in there.
Restore this file from the GUI of McAfee completely solved this problem.
