Windows update - Windows Update is not restore my windows/desktop computer after installing updates

When running Windows Update is not reproduce my office and rather trashes everything.  Ysterday I left to work with over a dozen research Internet Explorer open and this morning, I get to a Windows auto update cycle, which wrecked all.  Well Yes, they are lost and of course, I can spend an hour or more to find once again but my boss is breathing down my neck, as if it was my fault.  Microsoft how inconsiderate!

Of course, I have a solution, TURN OFF Microsoft Update but is this really what Microsoft wants?

Please people think.

Hi jbeech,

No, I don't work for Microsoft and I am not associated with them in any way (other than to receive awards and certificates I earned on my own).  I'm a volunteer civilian gift free time to help other people.

I meant nothing personal, per my comments of workflow.  I was just trying to do my best to help you avoid this problem in the future and apologize if you took it the wrong way.  I agree with you that he must restore it things automatically (as it does when you use the hibernation), but maybe that can be done (at least not always) because updates may affect items that are open and to update these programs must be closed (which makes saving them more difficult because if they look different after the update) It may not work if we try to restore them unless they can find a way to save ONLY the information and it is a much more difficult task).  This problem does not occur with an accident or an unexpected shutdown (and a complete restoration in cases does not always work as well and completely that we hope - at least I had problems back exactly where I was with all that every time).

While you can choose to turn off automatic updates, you don't want to not go for very long without updating your system, so checking periodically (although if you want to do on a daily basis - I would try at least every Wednesday at least since most updates are released every Tuesday) is important in all cases.  The option I suggested (i.e. automatic downloads but no facilities) would at least them already downloaded (you would not need to check - that they would be there) it would take much less time to choose and install if you show if off completely - and when you decide to install, you will find it takes MUCH more time because you need to download and install (unless they are already downloaded).  But it is entirely up to you.

Good luck and best wishes!

    Hello

You're confused system recovery and system restore.

System Restore makes the settings from your computer to an earlier date; It will not reinstall the operating system.

System recovery reinstalls the operating system how much you bought your machine; as for the new State.

You can reinstall by the HP Recovery Manager if your computer is still running or by pressing F11 at startup.

You can also make your own recovery discs.

All these information are the included HP link.

    Hello

Welcome to the Forums Community Microsoft and thanks for posting the question.

According to the description, you get an error message "FAILED CONNECTION USER INIT" after installing Windows updates.

From my research, this problem occurs if the Userinit key in the Windows registry has been changed. For example, this problem may occur if the Userinit key has a value, but no binary data.

I suggest you follow the steps mentioned below.

    Method 1:

Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Step 2: Check the value and binary Userinit registry data

Important: The following instructions contain the steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information, view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    Back up the registry
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/back-up-the-registry

    a. start Registry Editor. To do this, click Start, type regedit in the search box and press ENTER.

    b. click continue.

    c. Locate and then click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

    d. in the right pane, right-click Userinit, and then click change.

    e. in the value data box, type hard disk:\Windows\System32\userinit.exe, and then click OK.

Note: The placeholder of the hard drive refers to the drive on which Windows Vista is installed.

    f. close the registry editor.

    g. restart the computer.

    Method 2:

Restore the system to an earlier point before installing this application.

System Restore can return your files system to a point in time before you noticed a problem, without affecting documents, photos, or other personal files. If the system restore does not resolve the problem, you can undo the restore operation and choose a different restore point.

  • P7-1299cb: no sound for desktop computer after update to windows 10

I have a desktop computer that used to run windows 7 and finally decided to upgrade to windows 10.  Update had no problems, but I have no sound.  I tried to update the driver through windows update and HP support assistant, both did not acknowledge the problem

Windows update, I get the following message: IDT - Audio Device - IDT High Definition Audio CODEC - error 0x8007001f

Please any advice would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hello:

The page sheet product indicates that your PC came with W7 64 bit.

I can tell you that there is no audio driver W10 32 bit.

If you have inadvertently posted the wrong bit version, see if this W10 64-bit IDT audio driver works...

This package provides the Tempo IDT High Definition Audio Driver for assumption of office models that are running a supported operating system.

    File name: sp71717.exe

Otherwise, there is a workaround solution that you can try to get at least the noise at work...

Go to Device Manager and click to expand the category of audio, video and game controllers device.

    1. Select IDT High Definition Audio CODEC under this category.

    2. Select the driver tab.

    3. click on Update Driver... button.

4-> select Browse my computer for driver software.

    5. Select-> Let pick me from a list of drivers for devices on my computer.

    6. Select Audio device high definition (not IDT high def...)  "This is important). and click Next.

A warning message may appear, but click Yes.

7 Windows has updated your driver software.

    8 restart the PC.

    The key is step 6.

Alternatively, you can try to reset Internet Explorer by default, see if that solves the problem.
    1. click on START

  • Firefox will always be a way course surf the web using a Windows XP computer after that leaves Microsoft support Windows XP?

Windows XP is still my favorite operating system, but Microsoft will give up support in the coming days. If I understand correctly, shortly after which using Windows Internet Explorer to surf the web on a computer running Windows XP (or can) make the computer vulnerable to piracy. It will be the same for the use of Mozilla Firefox on a computer that is running Windows XP?
I think I saw an ad for Google Chrome with that they would continue to support the browser for use on a Windows XP computer. I think that Google said they would keep releasing patches to secure the Chrome. Can anyone confirm that and more importantly, is Mozilla Firefox secure? Also, should I uninstall Internet Explorer on my Windows XP computer when leaving Microsoft support?

Note - I am posting this with a newer computer that works under Windows 7 64-bit.

Firefox will continue to work with Windows XP. At best, in the near future, I could see the required configuration to encountered to Windows XP with Service Pack 3 (obligation is SP2 for now). Security in Firefox patches are the same, regardless of the version of Windows you are using.

Keep in mind that without security updates, the operating system itself will be precarious. What browser and software security that you use will not change.

Internet Explorer is a component of the system, and you should not attempt to remove it in Windows Vista and lower. From Windows 7, there's a way of kind of uninstall from the control panel.

    Hello

    ·         You receive an error message when the system crashes?

But wait, this means it that I'll be stuck with spybot as my only protection if I can have only one anti-virus application? Are you sure I won't need Tea Timer?

And thank you very much, I must say that you are the most useful person, that I went about this all day - the best part is that you don't try to sell me a 200 dollar fix and rather try to help me.

Edit: I just noticed that I have Windows Defender. I get it updated and put in place now. Can I still get Microsoft Security Essentials in addition to this and keep Tea Timer off without getting into trouble?

Spybot is an anti-spyware application, not an antivirus application.

Trust me: you're not the kind of user who must have the active Tea Timer (no offense).

In fact, you could even make a dump Spybot, too, given that Windows Defender (another anti-spyware application) is included by default in Win7:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Using-Windows-Defender

You are welcome & thank you VERY for your comments! It really made my day.
