Please do not type in capital letters because it's difficult to read and considered to be shouting.

You can right-click on any update and hide it in Control Panel - Windows Update.

Then run this:

  • Windows Update failure and & SFC /scannnow results

Hello, Win7 64 bit home edition Premium user.

I restarted my PC with an old XP OEM from my previous PC drive and he started to move - I stopped it at first, but he replaced my startup file, I had to be replaced by reinstalling my backup/dual boot OS, Linux Mint.  After spending a whole day trying to solve my startup files (Windows Repair on the Windows 7 disk did not work, System Restore was not available), I went into Windows by copying the necessary files from the drive via the command prompt.  At least, I think it's finally finished work - it was quite a long ordeal.
Fast forward to today: after being able to go back to Windows (if I have still two entrances Win7 on my Start menu that seem to do the same thing), I noticed that some of my mouse functions have disappeared (zoom button does more work), and my windows updates will install is no longer.  I tried to replace the mouse driver software, but after uninstalling it with "Program install and uninstall" Fix - It, I could not reinstall it because I got an error message saying that a newer version of the software has already been installed.  I raise this issue because I believe that it is a problem with Windows Update no longer works.  I even took the trouble to uninstall however much 100 + updates I had allowed the years to start from the beginning, and now I'm stuck with more than 100 updates failed instead of a dozen or two.
It getting to download 0% for a very long time sometimes hours, before finally download and try to install the updates many and always default.  I tried the troubleshooting Windows Update tool, and it did not help.  I tried to solve any problems by using the file system (SFC/scannow at the command prompt) checker, but no luck - I received an error message stating that there were records that he was unable to repair.  I created a sfcdetails.txt (findstr/c: "[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log > '% userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt'), but there is no listed in that document, *.dll files so that I could replace them.
TL; DR - Windows Update does not work and problems with the mouse drivers, I guess. What files should I replace and how
    ?
    Sfcdetails.txt content looks like this:

  • Cannot install Windows Update KB2728973 and KB2917500

    Hello!

The Windows Update KB2728973 and KB2917500 are appearing repeatedly on Help and Support Center, windows update and the automatic update check on purpose to get updates of high priority (recommended) button.

The update of windows KB2728973 will automatically appear on the notification area.  I installed the KB2728973 update.  When I check the latest version of windows update in Help and Support Center, the KB2917500 appears in patches of high priority (recommended).  I also installed the KB2917500 update.  Once again, the update of windows KB2728973 will be automatically appears on the notification area and install it again.  And even once, when you check that the latest version of windows update in Help and Support Center, the KB2917500 appears again in the updates of high priority (recommended).

As a closure update, only once you update, it appears again.

Looking forward to our experts advise on this issue.  Guys thank you very much in advance.

You only need KB2917500 since it replaces the KB2728973. Try to install manually by downloading it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=11534eba-01c5-42ad-8254-3123fe204661.

  • Vista - windows update broken (and then some)

Hi everyone, maybe you could help me with this...

My system is a laptop running vista home basic service pack 2.
The laptop is also on a wireless network without proxy.
all moving parts are functional, I would say... (ram hd etc..)

It seems that this update of windows is quite unable. Common symptoms are
-When you try to search updates notice occurs that the service is stopped.
-A separate statement occurs informing that a host process has stopped working.

The most recent update I see is 11/09.

A quick glance around my services leads me to believe that BITS is the problem, because I can't seem to start the service without stopping quickly. It also reproduces the host process error notice.
Event Viewer shows a consistent error listed as follows...

Failing application svchost.exe_BITS, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x47918b89, failed module qmgr.dll, version 7.0.6002.18005, time stamp 0x49e037de, exception 0xc000001d, offset 0x000587e7, process 0x2d8 id error code, start the application time 0x01ca8c8b35264f9f.

The error also occurs with windows defender.

I tried the fix for BITS of http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/940520 including the manual fix suggests the page.
I also tried several methods which included manually stopping and restarting the windows update service and other services that I considered relevant.
System restore failed me on all accounts, Startup Repair can not find anything.
This error is also reproduced in safemode, but also a clean boot.

An interesting thing that I met just used the fixit found here
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058
I ran it automatically with the aggressive function checked.
After the reboot, I found that windows update worked but then the two BITS and windows update services stopped.
There is also a message in the editing window:

    Code 800706BA (unknown error)

I did a considerable amount of research on the internet, including the knowledge base and I can't seem to find a solution for this. So I turn here. After watching a few discussions, it seems that people here are knowledgeable and helpful.
In all sincerity at all any help is GREATLY appreciated.
    Thank you for your time.

Try to install some other updates and then reboot your PC and run the update again. If the problem has not been resolved, and then run this tool:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/windows_update/

  • Windows Update repeatedly and prompt to install the same updates: KB 2686828 and KB 2656369.

I have exactly the same problem as you cyclingchris.  I spent hours with no result.  Ready to throw this old laptop XP and upgrade, but it still works for what I need to.  Please report if find you a solution.  I tried pretty much everything recommended with no luck.

    Hello

    Hide updates and check:

Note: You must be logged in as an administrator or have an administrator password to do so.

    (a) click the Start button, click all programs, and select Windows update.

    (b) select updates Important or optional and verification of the list of available updates: KB2604092, KB2656369 and KB 2656369

    (c) place your mouse on each update you want to hide, and then right-click on it and choose 'hide'. Follow the same to hide some other updates, providing several times after successful installation.

    It will be useful.

  • Access user (UAC) shield appears on a large number of my programs now after Windows Update download and cause problems with some programs, no one knows how to fix this? (Windows 7) (Windows Update post a coupe of weeks)

    Hello

Windows Update recently made a lot of downloads on my computer about two weeks ago (I run it automatically and it works usually weekly) and he has made some changes to my system that create errors or difficulties with certain programs. The shield of the UAC is now appearing on many more programs for some reason any and now I'm a guest whenever a program is available. which is also appear on my AntiVirus program. Action Center flag appears almost every day now with warnings saying that my AntiVirus program and spyware is off (not sure if this is related to the UAC shield), but when I check my AntiVirus program everything works and after access; the flag of the Action Center shows while all right. Nobody knows how to solve this problem and get rid of the ecu of the UAC on programs (or at least some of them I want to be invited on)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I'm sure I've upgraded to Vista SP2, but not absolute, I can't find a lot of information in the case of the newspapers with the service pack level... only vista combined with some process is perceptible. I bought July ' 09 new and it came pre-installed with Vista on it. I think this is the tool I used to remove McAfee on this; It also came with Norton as an alternative option and both have been removed using their tools to uninstall BitDefender installation instructions walked me through the location and the removal of two of them before installing BitDefender on the computer. My user account is configured as an administrator, but when I right click on programs with the shield of the UAC on them, I'm not running as an administrator. The UAC slider is set at the 2nd ranked (by default); but I do not know how it was listed previous, I wondered about moving down one notch (but he advises not and I don't want to spoil anything).

  • KB976569 offered via windows update again and again, properly installed

    Hello

I have XP Home Edition SP3.  I installed this update several times, but he continues to appear in my list of updates on the site of Microsoft Updates of the software to install.  Whenever it says the installation was successful.

It appears in Add/Remove programs as if it has been installed, so why is this update continuously displayed in the list of updates must be installed on the Windows Update site?

Any suggestions or explanations would be appreciated. Eric

What is KB976569 listed in Add/Remove Programs [Yes/No]

    Yes

Automatic updates (or the Windows Update Web site) still offers KB976569? [Yes/No]

    Yes

The following may solve the behavior:

    1. stop the automatic updates service:

    Start > run > services.msc (enter) > [OK]
Double-click Automatic Updates > click Stop
(Stopping the service will take a moment)

2 remove the contents of the download folder:

    Start > run > %windir%\SoftwareDistribution (enter) > [OK]
Open the download folder and delete its contents
    Close the window.

    3. go to the Windows Update Web site. Select CUSTOM and allow the analysis to be performed. Uncheck/unselect KB976569 and hide ("don't show me this update").

    4. start the automatic updates service:

    Start > run > services.msc (enter) > [OK]
Double-click Automatic Updates > click Start
(Starting the service will take a moment)

NB: If you are running a manual check for updates at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com, you will see a prompt saying: 'you have hidden a significant update. You want to install it now? "Answer NO to this prompt.

  • Acer Aspire V5 - 572G windows update, net and virtual disk problems.

So I installed w7 x 64 ultimate on my laptop and notiiced windows update does not work. It shows that he can not connet to the server. After trying to fix it I discovered that I need to install net framework, which I tried, but he also failed because when I download the framework and before I press on install it shows me how much to download and it is 0. After I press on install it loads a little and it is said that he was not successful. Also tried to download some programs, such as driverpack, drivers search for and he found this lack gcdbusdevice and dcbusdevice im. When I tried downlaoding them, they seem not to exist. And when I try to install daemon tools or some simillar programs, it will fail to install, or fails to create a virtual disk, and after that the laptop can not stop lights. I have to use the restore point, and then he turns then on.

So yes, some advice or help would be nice, thank you.
