You are prompted to install the security update even if the update is already installed
I use a laptop which has downgraded from Vista Home to Windowx XP Pro w / SP2 (although maybe it's not relevant). Issues installing security updates through Windows Update before today have never known. I am prompted to install the update from a security XP KB956744, what I have done. I installed it through Windows Update and automatic command prompt directly. I even posted the update as something to ignore, but I am always prompted to install it. I also tried to uninstall the version on my machine, and then reinstall the update, but I am always prompted to install it.
Two questions:
1. because I received a prompt saying that it has been successfully installed and it appears in Add/Remove Programs, I can safely assume that it has been installed successfully even if I continue to prompt to install it?
2. If my previous question is true, how can I window update to ignore this update even if I have already reported as such by the normal means?Thank you.

Go to add or remove programs and look for the KB956744-security update and remove it.

After opening closed, be prompted to install the update. Accepted the request of updates install, still continue to receive demand updates install on each request to stop.
Hi DTIRDT,
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft Forums.
First, I suggest to install all updates manually by running the Windows updates and check if all updates are installed.
Once installed try turn off the computer and check if you are always faced with the question, if so post back so that we can help you further.
It is best to install the updates when the computer is running.
I hope this helps.

If the installation program itself fails to open and run. Download it again maybe your current download is corrupted. Also, what OS you are using and you are an administrator with permission to install.

If I buy windows 8 (any OS windows) now and install in my computer and after a year when I change my computer, can I install the SAME operating system in the new computer?
You can if you buy a commercial box full of Windows 8 version.
If you buy a computer with Windows preinstalled, or a version OEM of Windows 8, 8 No, you can't.
If you buy a version upgrade, you can, as long as the new computer has a licensed version earlier of Windows on them.

The automatic update keeps eager to download and install the same 5 updates daily. These 5 updates are KB979909, KB982168 KB982524, KB983583, KB2418241. I looked at the log of update and it showes them already installed. This has happened since November. What can I do?
