Windows Update says I need 53 updates, yet he cannot install even the premiera.

I've lightened up to the os disk space and scanned several times for malware (Microsoft Security comes always too clean). I took it to a repair guy and it didn't fix it! When Microsoft Security try to update, it cannot, and when the Windows Update Web page is trying to update, it can also.

Even when I try to install updated myself one, it fails.

Hi again. Well, my little girl was walking as I struggled with this and she sat and fixed a bunch of stuff so fast that I couldn't follow even with my eyes. She never even had a single computer course. What is - this with this generation? Thanks for your help! She read the report here and knew exactly what to do.

    Hello

This problem can occur if a program (most probably antivirus) interferes with the automatic update process.

Perform the steps in the following article and check:

You receive error 0 x 80070020 when you use the Windows Update Web site or the Microsoft Update Web site to install the updates

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/883825

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Let us know if it helps.

I noticed that whenever I install a patch/update of security, it installs only 30% updates so that the closing and the rest is installed after the boot upward... Screen shows the exact percentage similarly whenever an update is installed. Is that percentage means that is to install a module of some and it displays the percentage? Curious to know the details behind it.

    It installs only 30% updates

You are misinterpreting what you see. The update or updates are installed. During shutdown or restart, updates are always configured to 30%. When the computer is started then complete configuration with the percentage rising from 30% to 100%. What you see is normal for a successful update.

Restore to factory state out of the box. Can I install all updates from Microsoft using Windows update or can I install antivirus first before to connect to internet?

Currently Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 x 86 (no patches since 2008). Currently, it has no AV and has not been connected to the internet yet. It will be behind a router.

I had to redo the factory already reset after be connected to the net for 20 minutes and then a bunch of programs kept crashing saying Data Execution Prevention had to close the program StackHash and BEX error when executing update for HP drivers.

Maybe I installed Kaspersky first next time?

    What should I do?

    Thank you!

No problem. Install the updates. You can install the anti-virus later.

Just don't start browsing the inet by updating.

  • Windows Update continually wants to install Sql Server SP3...

I have a 64-bit system running Sql Server 2005 (64-bit) and Sql Express (it seems that it is 64-bit).
Windows Update said I needed sp3 for both versions, but after making a stop, I always get the message that he wants to apply the service pack.

I went out and manually d / edition and installed the service pack for both servers, but Windows Update is not in agreement that the service pack is applied.

This makes my machine windows 7 have a stop for 5 to 10 minutes every time because it's think it's to apply the service pack.
